  1. You know... I'll just let these tell their own story Bioshock Infinite is one of the most expressive games I've ever played when it comes to enviromental storytelling.
  2. I dearly hope this does not mean they're making Mass Effect: Inquisition - revenge of the checklist
  3. Why do you guys assume I said anything of the sort? Where? Of course it doesn't delay the patch, that would be silly. And yes, absolutely, communication with a customer is a great thing at any given point. I'm pretty sure Obsidian would have announced the patch anyway, sooner or later, trough a bit more official way. I just don't particularly like bullies is all and the "concerned customer" act Gs11 is throwing around here is just that - an attempt to bully the developer trough riling up people on the boards. Majority of you didn't fall for that which is great, and developer opting to respond is even better, but the bully pretending it was due to his whining makes me vomit a little on the inside. No. No, you do not prefer facts :-P
  4. Well... Without Bethesda, we wouldn't have Dishonored and Wolfenstein: The New Order. I guess remaining members of id were sacrificed to the Dark Gods in order for these two absolutely stellar games to happen, and the price we have to pay is the new Doom. Anyway, thanks for warning.
  5. You're quite correct, thanks to your whining some poor soul had to waste time creating an account and writing up an update instead doing more productive work / resting. This won't get us the patch any sooner mind you, we just know they're working on it. Which most of us knew anyway, so uh... Yay?
  6. It seems like units fielded by AI in missions are usually not predetermined by developer but rather chosen by AI before each mission, so even when replaying the same mission, you won't encounter the same kind of opposition. It can sometimes lead to some really tight situations when AI decides to field units that your particular composition has trouble with. I also found that when I tried to keep using similar tactics for all missions, I started losing horribly soon enough - like I got a battlecruiser in a mission where I really wanted to try my new toy out, but it turned out fielding a bunch of way faster light cruisers would have done the job significantly better.
  7. Eh, about a year ago I think? I'm not sure. At any rate, it's by NeocoreGames, developers of Incredible adventures of Van Helsing, so it's likely going to be solid at the very least - and the destruction does look impressive.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwNjuXG_DKo&ab_channel=NeocoreGames OMG WH40K INQUISITOR RPG I'M getting progressively less and less interested. *sigh*, why should a bloody game about a WH40k Inquisitor, which is a character mostly interesting for investigation and potential for a very unorthodox look at WH40k world outside of front-line warfare (which is something Dark Heresy thankfully realized), be all about shooting things all the time? We already have Spess Marine, we don't need more of these.
  9. So there was a tiny little line ship that I used to draw fire while assaulting a space station and jumped it to warp at the very last moment. The tiny little ship is now lost in warp and I'm not entirely sure about quality of its shielding.
  10. Riiight... Just how much time of your life have you spent debugging software? :-P
  11. Pretty much, yeah. I wouldn't say the original DoW was completely unremarkable, after all there's a reason as to why I have hundreds of hours played on that game, but it really did not bring anything particularly new to the genre - it's just an extremely well executed RTS with some amazing attention to detail. There's nothing else quite like DoW II tho, with its weird mix of tactical strategy and ... Well, Diablo.
  12. How on Earth was DoW2 a MOBA-wannabe?
  13. Is that a Warhound? Isn't it... Kinda tiny?
  14. ... and you get a wizard which depends on said buffs to work properly. Companion builds are quite simply designed to be as generic as possible while sticking to themes given to them by their stories. It's really cool that we get a system in which such builds can work just fine, eh? But yes, this topic is not really supposed to be focused on story companions.
  15. I nearly got a refund for that game, let's say my first impressions were less than stellar. It really grew on me tho, it turned out to be this fast-paced real time tactics game which shows me that yes, RTS genre still has new experiences to offer which have not been done before in this particular fashion. (to my knowledge anyway) That said, even controlling just three or four ships and making snap judgements in the heat of a battle is a little overwhelming even for me and I played RTS games for a bit over 20 years now. And the game sure doesn't do much to help me - UI is often not very informative to the point I have to manually zoom in on ships to find out which turrets were destroyed and which side of the ship should I therefore face towards the enemy to get the maximal firepower, there's lack of mid-mission saves (which is mostly fine as most missions don't take longer than 10 minutes, but... That's not a universal rule) and I miss finer controls of individual ship turns (for instance, I would sometimes just like a ship to turn in place without burning the extra thruster fuel. You can do that to an extent, but the AI sometimes decides it'll fly around instead of just turning in place) There's actually a whole list of stuff I find questionable about the game but I won't got into details unless someone really wants that information. On the other hand, combat is really satisfying and the devs said that they plan to work solely on this particular game for at least the rest of 2016. As a bonus, all early adopters (who bought the game either in beta or up to 2 months after release) will get all DLC for free. Apparently it's an astounding success so I do hope they'll work out the kinks with the game. And just... Watching as massive space ships are ripped to shreds by volleys of broadside cannons while Dawn of War-like soundtrack is blasting in your ears is a joy.
  16. Battlefleet Gothic: Armada. I have won the last defense mission by ramming an enemy cruiser and towing it out of its weapon range since my last functional ship had no functional weaponry.
  17. Doing Iron Man runs is great and all, but as long as the game features non iron man runs as a default and fully supported setting, it should be considered a semi game breaking bug and taken with that kind of severity. I know you don't care, Torm, but I'm willing to bet majority does not play Iron Man and would like to see the bugs fixed without being told to play in a way they don't enjoy.
  18. Well they certainly have writers capable of creating characters with no critical thinking and almost fanatical devotion. After all, it is better to die for the Emperor than to live for yourself!
  19. What'll we get next? Call of Duty 40k?
  20. Generally I perceive it as an attempt to somewhat hasten the entire experience - Arkham Horror was utterly unique, but also tended to be incredibly contrived. I tend to just show people this flowchart just to point out how contrived it actually is. By adapting tried mechanics from other board games, Eldritch has been made more accessible and less complex while retaining the emergent storytelling aspect of the original. From what I have seen thus far, it's been reasonably successful at doing that - various encounters are still as fun as they've ever been and a fair bit more dynamic than in Arkham (each Ancient one adds his own deck of encounter cards, for instance, and you can't win the game quite simply by collecting clues and avoiding all encounters as in order to win, you have to resolve three randomly drawn encounter cards of the ancient one. Oh and to collect a clue you have to go trough a random encounter, you can't just snatch it from the board, adding a bit of background to each clue token. A small bugbear I've had with Arkham resolved right there.) Eh, I'm beginning to ramble, simply put: It's faster and simpler while retaining the core of what made Arkham Horror special, but it does sacrifice the insanely intertwined self-balancing set of systems to more traditional means. Storytelling elements seem a little more personal when you're mostly working with known locations around the globe, I find that particular aspect really cool. As to whether we're enjoying it more or less than Arkham... Idunno. I have incredible amount of nostalgia for Arkham, I've been playing it for a year on pretty much weekly basis, so I guess time and which box we go for when we want some coop fun will tell which one is better. Edit: Oh and it uses the same success/failure system as Arkham, so I finally found a second game to use these with!
  21. This. That's what I was doing the whole day after work. Just bought it. I am very happy about all this.
  22. It's not that bad for the most part. That said, I wish they just got rid of most of the corridors - fights on some of the more open maps are the most enjoyable that game has to offer, and then there are the maze-like sections in the vein of the original which are really cool. And then then there are the corridor sections which are remedied by amazingly fun shooting, but are still the weakest part of the game. The other thing I'd complain about is that enemies tend to get bullet spongy, especially on higher difficulties. Sometimes it's so bad that you empty all four barrels of your shotgun into an opponent with a satisfying OOMPH, but then your attack has absolutely no effect, that sucks. Still... Probably the best shooter of 2014 for me.
  23. I'm pretty sure I've stumbled upon a research which pretty much confirms that couples which actually face their issues have a tendency of being a fair bit happier. After 8 years my wife still won't let me go to sleep until we resolve whatever happens to be wrong between us and I still consider her my ideal partner, so I guess it works well enough. Meh, it excludes every man on the planet too. There are certain activities I don't ask my wife to rationalize every time she wants to partake in them. ... Know what, actually, that's exactly what I'm going to do one of these days.
