Anybody heard of Elex? It's supposed to be a semi-open world RPG by Piranha Bytes so it could either be amazing or a complete trainwreck, but it looks very intriguing. Just look at the screenshots and you'll quickly understand why. Official website Edit: These are screenshots from the same game:

Ran into the same issue. Turns out you need to have your profile set to public in order for the API to detect your games correctly. Which is ... Well it makes sense I suppose, but it's still weird.

I found the game's designed so that, at the end of it, you should be roughly at lvl 30, no matter the amount of content you do before it - so no amount of optimization does much good, really. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine completely throws it all off tho, I'm pretty sure at the point I'm fighting Eredin, I'll be a God of Death (who defeated bandits who are somehow 10 times more powerful than said Eredin in Blood and Wine for some reason). TBH I'm not a big fan of how levelling in W3 works - I'd much prefer a system where you'd get far fewer levels, but much more interesting skills and weapons, instead of being the same thing +20 (which leads to ridiculous end-game sticks which are somehow much more powerful than a Witcher's sword). Well, I would, personally, be quite glad if CDP got rid of leveling altogether and made more distinct fighting styles instead, but eh... (For crying out loud, Geralt was an elite warrior at the end of the books. Even the most powerful beings in Witcher universe had great trouble besting him. And then two more Witcher games happened in the meantime. Yet at the start of W3, a drowner can kick his arse. wtf?)

You can tell an amazing game's got released when my wife starts nagging that I don't even speak to her anymore. Guess what keeps happening since 31 of May... Oh damnit, she's right, I'm taking her to a walk around the nearby forest and then a dinner out. And what'll happen after, when we get home? I'm playing more Blood and Wine of course.

A short story analysis for Hearts of Stone. Needless to say: Spoilers!

Just tried the GOG version on Windows 10 and it works fine. I'm pretty sure I used to play it on Win7 too since I finished the game about 4 years ago for the first time. If you don't feel like rebuying it I'm pretty sure just messing around with graphics options should do the trick too (I think disabling transparency effects or some such helped me when I was trying non-GOG version? Not sure now.)

I used to be pretty... But this place... It changes you. It takes away who you were and turns it upside down. The bleak ports. And mysterious tombs. At least the people are very welcoming, I mean, what the hell man, I wouldn't want to be my friend! I'm wearing someone's face! And I can go for a pleasant walk in a forest! -
It sort of requires you to be familiar with the original, more specifically with what happens during the last two hours or so. I always considered DayZ an MMO-lite, so that doesn't really help :-P I'm just not a fan of multiplayer.

Is that the game I thought looks really cool until they said it's actually an MMO and so I promptly forgot it exists?

This is so incredibly fun! And it's gorgeous! Bosses are a bit on the easy side, but at least they're impressive. -
Which is an argument that would make sense if main character was a drooling idiot at 3 int. Alas, 90% of conversations play out the same and PC's comprehensive skills don't change at all, so clearly, intellect doesn't necessarily directly equate to intelligence. Similarly, keeping NPC stats unchangeable would make sense if they had unique interactions tied with their stats inside of conversations but that never happens, and scripted interactions literally just check base attributes/skills/spells of all party members regardless of their personality so there's no issue there either. Attributes in Pillars of Eternity are so incredibly vague and gamey that direct correlation to personality is often difficult to make as is - and since they don't serve any practical purpose in interactions with NPCs anyway, they might as well be tweakable by players. To be fair, you can make balanced unique traits, which would make stock companions just another option.
-
Because gender, background, class, diety, their unique traits, looks - all of those things are actually used in interactions with NPC characters. Their base attributes tho? Not at all. The common argument seems to run along the lines of "Well Durance wouldn't be Durance without 200 resolve!", but if Obsidian opted for a different arbitrary number for a semi-arbitrary stat-name, the argument would suddenly become "It makes sense that Durance with his low resolve would hate his god!" The attributes have next to no bearing to how characters interact with PC, which is why allowing players to change them is a fairly logical step, whereas allowing them to change, say, gender, is a completely illogical one.

Gigantic hammers are no excuse to not look pretty! -

I have fixed that for you. It devalues translation work across the board, it produces pretty crappy results and since it's collective effort, you can't even really use it on your resume. -

It's mostly the former, actually - if you try to put in a direct link to a Steam image, forum software fetches the image and displays it in the editor just fine, but when you try to post it, verification decides that it can't possibly allow for an image without an image extension. The only weird thing Steam does is servicing images without extensions in url. -
I feel offended by you suggesting that I could be offended.

Infiltration'll work even in most right-down unwelcoming communities, but it's not for many temperaments. I don't really mind TBH, my approach to getting into communities can be summed up as Forum posting: Prepare to Die edition, still - my definition of "welcoming" is "community which'll embrace people who act even in ways unusual to it". Which I observed this community to do some of the time, true enough. Oh not you, I just don't like pointing fingers at people (we all have bad days after all. Or... Well, months) and so I won't.

You arse, now I can't stop playing Dark Souls 2 and Salt and Sanctuary. It's 100% your fault. Actually, I'd say I'm enjoying Salt and Sanctuary a good deal more than DS2. Anyway... Are these players? And now for something completely different... -
No, you indeed are not particularly welcoming with new members. I had to annoy everybody with my obnoxious arse for prolonged periods of time so that certain someone would go from pretty much calling me a worthless piece of s**t for absolutely no reason to ignoring me, that was fun :-P
-
I'm enjoying combat in DS2 a decent bit. I'm not necessarily enjoying some of the opponents, but I find the power stance for dual wielding to be a very fun addition.
-
Oh nice, that looks worth following, wishlisted. I don't usually buy stuff in Early Access (not because of some moral objections - I just don't want to burn out on a game before it's even feature complete), but I might make an exception - how far into development is it? Is the game still missing a lot of features?
-
I did. It was. I did. I made it trough the area, it just made the experience longer :-/

I'm loving this. "Creating an action shooter, as opposed to all the non-action shooters and/or non-action RPGs that we tots made in the past 10 years, is really lucrative! Just look at the graph, IT DOESN't LIE!" Somebody should go to EA execs and tell them to create an action sports RPG shooter with racing strategy and sim elements which includes casual fighting. Now THAT'S a potential market killer, innit?

Dark Souls 2 is like crack. Help.

Just curious - and do feel free to just not answer if you don't feel like answering - are you religious? I feel like the word "God" would have a largely different meaning to a person actually believing in some and those for whom the word doesn't actually hold any special meaning, that's why I'm wondering.
