  1. so a dictatorship is a semi-democracy? but without elections? ^_^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. Democracy is an illusion.
  2. Democracy is a semi-dictatorship. The Dictator is(theoretically) elected.
  3. The problem with the actors in the PT is that they weren't given anything at all. The main job of a director is directing the actors. The term "Director" comes from this. All Lucas did in the PT was oversee the special effects, the CGI, the models. You can see all this in the truly excellent extras on the Phantom Menace DVD#2. Lucas even says that "we hired good actors and we let them do what they do best. I'm not worried" or something so very similar. If Lucas would've put as much effort in the direction and depth of his characters(who are full of potential, even Jar Jar) as he did for his little toys, the PT would've been fantastic. But in the end, the PT is a six hour toy commercial, nothing more. Oh and by the way, George Lucas wrote, produced and directed A New Hope.
  4. I'm pretty sure history predates rifles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  5. Is Osama the only terrorist in the world? I think not. And if he falls, someone will take his place, that is a 100% certainty. So if the War on Terror is the true motive behind America's actions this is far from over. However, it's not the true motive. No one is fighting terror anymore, unless one counts increased homeland security and files filled for what one's having for breakfast and stuff. And apparently ithe motive is not oil either. "
  6. One can NEVER watch too much Battlestar Galactica. :D
  7. The OT's story is actually quite common. Save the princess, fight an opressive ruling regime. What made Star Wars was the characters, the conflicting personalities that worked great together. The special effects served the story instead of being the story. Also, John Williams' score is MUCH better in the OT than in the PT and music was extremely influencial in the success of the OT.
  8. I voted Grievous because he is neither Jedi nor Sith. <_<
  9. My guess would be no. :D
  10. Certain apes, dolphins and elephants can see that it is a reflection and not another animal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Certain cats, dogs, hamsters and lizards can do the same. Just like humans, some animals are smarter than others.
  11. And I'm pretty sure they don't have rights... *runs away*
  12. If you kill an animal in Iowa in a cruel and inhumane way you will not get fined. You will get years in prison. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And if someone murders a child in a similar way, would you be for the death penalty in this case?
  13. Whats the recoil like? Kicks like a mule? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's kind of interesting, actually. It's an open-bolt rifle and the bolt is so heavy that when it slams forward the whole weapon actually sort of pops forward before the explosion of the next round drives it back again, so it actually recoils in both directions. It doesn't kick hard but it sort of "chugs" like a jackhammer, and if you don't hold on to it tight it'll pull away from you and you won't hit a thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes but... Can it cut a man in half?
  14. Animal rights are a joke. If someone kills a dog in Texas, he will get a fine. If someone kills a human in Texas, he will get fried. Animals should have the same rights to live as humans do, with much greater penalties that are given now. They are living, breathing creatures that contribute to the lives of everything on this planet, which is more than anyone can say about humans in this day and age. Robots on the other hand are and will always be a product of humans. They will never develop a conscience of their own unless this faculty is programmed by a human. Do cars have rights? No. And neither can robots.
  15. Children have rights, from the day they are born. If they can't speak for themselves, someone will. I don't see why no one can speak on behalf of animals who's rights have been violated.
  16. You think animals have no conscience or thought?
  17. So how did NWN2 play with you?
  18. Animals should have more right imo. At least before robots do.
  19. Too bad we don't get any voices in that trailer. Too bad the trailer is a seemingly random mess of images. Still, it looks better than I thought. 7 months to go.
  20. Fascinating! <_<
  21. What if you are the parent of Freddy Kruger? Happy Holy days everyone! (w00t)
  22. I didn't mean to offend you. Being concerned does not equal being stupid. <_<
  23. I prefer the first one for a variety of reasons. The main reason being the fellowship is together. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I actually like the first one the best myself....partly because it is all about establishing the world....and a very mysterious world it is at that point. still haven't seen the extendeds for any of them though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First, rent the extended asap. The first one is my favorite also. I find it more magical, mysterious, fantastic(as in fantasy). My favorite 2 scenes in the entire trilogy are in FotR: From the end of the history lesson to Frodo leaving the Shire and the Moria scenes. Also, In my head, Gandalf is grey. I don't know why but that is the image I have of Gandalf, the wizard in rags with the pointy hat. I don't like most of what happens after they reach Lothlorien though.
  24. Well, I just have to ask... You're not planning on visiting any schools with that thing are you? Also... Are you American?
