  1. It might be nice to have a brief denouement period at the conclusion of the "last battle," but playing the game past the ending has always been incredibly anticlimactic for me. I guess it all depends on the nature of the story they try to tell in the game.
  2. Isn't the point of masochism the pain? Honestly I'm half surprised the iron-man, path of the damned options won't have reduced experience.
  3. So 315 votes in and we're still pretty much 50/50 split between like/love and loath/ambivalence, with only about 36% firmly for the inclusion of romance in the game. And most agreeing that cRPGs usually handle these things poorly or clumsily. Does that look about right to the rest of you guys?
  4. I love unique environments, here's a few more that could be cool: Ancient impact crater (with a dungeon at the bottom!) Grand Canyon-esque rift Active volcanic plains/mountain Glacial dungeon/cavern complex(es)
  5. but why do you care if I break my immersion in my single player RPG? Having a toggle like that would break immersion for me ... just knowing that there was a "feature" like this in the inventory screen would irritate me. If you want to modify equipment then there should be a corresponding skill or the ability to hire a smith/echanter to alter magical equipment for you. It comes down to this for me, if this were a tabletop game and I was GM there would have to be some plausible explanation for altering the physical properties of an item.
  6. I suppose if a crafting system is implemented and if the appropriate perks/feats are taken for smithing and item enchanting, then you could come up with a plausible reason for magical or legendary equipment to be altered in appearance, but to just be able to do it willy, nilly seems stupid to me and frankly immersion breaking.
  7. I like the idea of scalable spells. There should be no reason a high level mage can't use the cantrips and invocations from lower levels to greater effect than a novice.
  8. I think I just found a better tool for the job
  9. All I ask is that the devs name 'easy mode' 'Candy Land mode' so people are properly shamed for taking the easy way out
  10. modding tools are even more critical for single player games like this. That's purely a matter of opinion don't you think. Lack of mods never diminished my fun in planescape, icewind dale or Baldur's Gate. ToEE's circle of eight mod pack was must, but even then I enjoyed the game without mods. I'm certainly not opposed to mod tools, but I just don't see them as critical. Which is just my opinion.
  11. I've pledged all that I'm comfortable putting up at 65 bucks.
  12. I'm sure easy will be easy enough for most that play that way, but the real trick will be hitting that sweet spot for 'normal' difficulty.
  13. It's not critical for a single player game like this, but might be nice. Who knows, maybe it will be part of a future stretch goal or a post release feature if it really sells well?
  14. I've always found in-game romances to be a little bit cheesy, so I tend to prefer they were not included in a game ... with one notable exception: When the romance is in someway central to the story or plot. Planescape handled this pretty well, Bioware has typically done a poor job IMO, particularly with their Dragon Age stuff (DA:2 still turns my stomach because of how badly it was done). So I don't think my way is the only way and I have no objection to their inclusion if people really want them, but I would prefer that Obsidian put those precious development resources elsewhere in the game.
  15. Indeed, any game that only gets played once is a sucky game. And then no other game out there is likely to get close to having the insane replay value that all Obsidian games have. As far as "just playing again"....I suppose that's a worst case scenario if an NG+ feature isn't implemented but I very much would like to see the option to carry some of the hard earned goodies into a new game rather than starting from scratch every time. After all gameplay is nothing more than a roadbump to slow you down on your way to the next epic bit of story and pondering the next philosophical issue as you are faced with the next difficult and interesting moral choice. I would be super pissed off, if game items from one playthrough could be carried over to the next. SUPER PISSED!!
  16. I totally think mini-maps make sense in an FPS game or a close in 3rd person game, but how exactly do people envision a mini-map implementation in a game that uses a high oblique camera angle ... the screen will practically be a mini-map in and of itself won't it?
  17. I'd rather not see humans get the Elder Scrolls treatment, however if they do implement cultural differences it might be kind of cool, but damn that could really multiply their development costs (in terms of branching dialogue) for a game with such a modest budget.
  18. Some people really love grinding I guess? Personally I can think of nothing nastier and more soul sucking
  19. Soul Survivor Soul'd Out Soular Babies Soulyent Green
  20. New character, new class/race and back to square one for me
  21. There's a difference in my mind between good animations and what kill moves have become in a lot of games: John Woo-esque, super slow-mo, anime influenced, kill porn. I'm looking forward to some well animated characters and combat, just not over the top kill moves.
  22. You like fallout but dont like finishing moves? interesting... That's not what made fallout great IMO.
