  1. Has anyone played the Crusader Kings and its expansions? It's on sale for about 6 bucks and was curious if it was worth it.
  2. Wals, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. It's always hard to lose a loved one. I also lost my mother to cancer... 10 years ago now, she was 44 and I was 19. EDIT: It's unlikely that she will beat it given her age (91) and that she's pretty world-weary now, having outlived 4 children and 2 grand children.
  3. Sorry to hear that. I hope she is able to make a full recovery. Thanks.
  4. I found out that my grandma has bladder cancer... she's in good spirits about the whole thing though and I think that I'm more torn up about it than she is.
  5. Sorry, I meant pick one of their abilities for yourself.
  6. It's been a while, so my memory might be faulty. Can't you drag/assign them to number keys? I'm pretty sure you can. Though much of the interface got dumbed down for the PC sequel, I think they left that alone. But whomever decided to remove keyboard shortcuts to your codex or you quest log is an idiot. One thing I'm kinda disappointed about. I don't intend to play through this game 6 times, one for every class, and I want force powers, sniper rifles, grenades, cloak, the works, but I can't have it. The leveling trees seem pretty limited for all classes. If I remember correctly you get to pick one of your squad members special abilities for yourself after you beat it once. I would always take one of the force powers on my infiltrator. Also, you get to pick up another weapon skill somewhere along in the story I think.
  7. Nope, it creeped the heck out of me for a while.
  8. Except that Trump is not exactly self made, he took over the family business.
  9. ...you have to purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka
  10. That's pretty cool. but it really makes me want a Shadowrun game
  11. They fought the law and the law won, big surprise. "Yet, we know exactly who was responsible for that attack. Anonymous believes it is unfair and hypocritical to attempt to put these 5 arrested anons to trial without even attempting to find those who DDoS'ed a website which you oppose." This is a stupid quote. Yes, but the internet is not supposed to have consequences.
  12. The FBI executed 40 search warrants around the US to gather evidence on the Anonymous distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks in defense of WikiLeaks last year EDIT: In the UK too
  13. Egypt cuts off most cell and internet access
  14. It's a somewhat recurring high thoracic spine issue from an injury years ago...although it does create muscle tension as a by-product. Heating pad/stretching helps some. If it gets bad enough I see a doctor/chiropractor, but not there yet. I'm not a doctor nor have I played one on TV but I would think you should have it checked out before it gets that bad
  15. Basically how it works is that The American Council on Education reviews the courses and the training you receive and assigns a credit value to it. For me and in what I did, I got a little over 30 credits but that includes boot camp and MCT (Marine Combat Training - infantry school for non grunts) as well as MOS (military occupational specialty) school which took about 8 to 9 months total. Most of the credits only went towards electives and Mickey Mouse courses but it was a decent head start. EDIT- I also got a Journeyman Internetworking Technician thingamabob and a handful of certs but that wasn't until a few years later.
  16. Things have changed then. When I was in they were exempt. Of course I turned my rifle in almost seventeen years ago. That is an eternity in the Corps, a lot has certainly changed. Do they (WMs) have to go to MCT now? They were exempt from that too. They go to MCT now as well. I didn't have any with me as I was a Hollywood Marine so I don't know how well it is integrated but I heard different things, some say it's the same and some say they had to make it easier so they didn't have to split it. Also, our CFT is not your CFT, it's much easier and counts towards promotion and speaking of promotions our whole system would have to be reworked because women would rarely get promoted if they were held to the same standards as men. For those not familiar with the Marines, PFT/CFT is a huge part of getting promoted and we don't have written exams like the Navy(sorry that's the only other branch that I'm remotely knowledgeable about) does. Here is a wiki link that runs down the PFT for men and women (I know some people here don't like wikipedia references but it's easier to read and follow that the official military site).
  17. I don't think anybody here is suggesting that women can't serve in war zones on active service. This is a role-related issue. With respect you are missing the point slightly. And in most western armed forces bayonet technicians (inf) are usually on the lowest payscales. The technical roles (like Guard Dog working in aviation tech) tend to get articifer NCO status and higher pay increments to recognise their training and skills. The role we're talking about is infantry and armour. The pointy bit. It's just different. Actually, we get all get paid exactly the same depending on rank and time in service. There are things that will alter your pay slightly like speaking some needed language or diving or flight pay and there is also the different things you get while deployed. EDIT: I would also like to point out that women run the combat fitness test too but are graded on a different scale just like they are on the regular physical fitness test for obvious reasons. I'm not opposed to women serving in combat roles but I don't know how well it could be implemented in the Marine Corps.
  18. I was just thinking about Matrix Cubed and Countdown to Doomsday last night and thought that Buck Rogers would be an interesting setting to revisit. As for Shadowrun, I thought the SNES game was more fun but the Genesis version was closer to the rules but I enjoyed them both and I would love a new Shadowrun game.
  19. Last day of work then two weeks off. It's also my birthday.
  20. I'm just wondering why they limited the ability to zoom out so much, was there ever a reason given?
