I believe our judges here in CO are appointed but have to face a retention vote after their first 2 years and then every 4-10 years (depending on which court) after or something like that. Regarding DX:MD, there are already trainers and hex editor tables so I doubt they really tried to lock it down It reminds me of the NBA 2K series since 2K sports sells virtual currency which is used for upgrades and such but the player files are all stored locally so you can just edit it and cheat without spending money
