  1. The bigger concern in a Riposte build is the deflection malus that comes with Frenzy. I'll play around with it a little.
  2. This appears to be the thread where the cool kids are. Dr. <3, always a pleasure. I did eventually get around to getting my only Triple Crown Solo with my Anvil a few months ago - never did try for Frozen Crown - had a blast, thanks again. So, I'm playing a Warlock at the moment, Berserker / Wizard. I just picked up the Whispers Greatsword to test out a retaliation build. Remember the good old days of POE 1 when Retaliation generated Carnage? Goal of testing this week is to see how good it can be in this build. Whispers 100% Ripostes and adds +5 Deflection. Maxed out Resolve. Wizard's Double, Mirror Image and (nerfed) Llengrath's are incoming. +7 Defl Cloak. Working on the questline for the Casita armor. I took Berserker, but starting to regret that - probably won't want Frenzy active in a Riposte build. Separately, does using a Blunderbuss, each hit proc Spell Disruption? Because with 4 pellets that's 100% disruption if all 4. That would rock. Disrupt the mage in one full attack with dual wielded blunderbusses and proceed to wreck faces.
  3. Thank you for posting this. Solid, solid build. I am playing with a full team of five and its like easy mode on POTD.
  4. I can confirm this bug and can reproduce it easily. Hand Cannon in primary hand, fine blunderbuss in the other - off hand is +10 accuracy Fun bug but probably needs to be squelched
  5. Are you guys just reading the first page? Just right click on the game in steam and click on settings. Now click Betas. And here select the Beta Branch. I really hope the patch will go soon out of Beta. So many duplicated bug posts I did read the first page, yes. Eliminating the steam overlay is faster than downloading the Beta. I'll get the patch when it comes out. This was a post in an existing thread that I did not feel was duplicative at all - it was a thank you. Don't get your panties in a bunch.
  6. It's just ... easy and smooth. Probably not as powerful as a Monk build, but the early stage availability of constant recovery & disciplined accuracy makes things VERY noob friendly. Played both a Crusader and Battlemage to reasonable levels and felt challenged in spots but generally well equipped to deal with things. Crusader has to be the most noob friendly build I've seen. [NOTE I AM A NOOB IN DEADFIRE! ] Easy defenses, accuracy on demand, big crits from FoD + Devoted Weapon + Disciplined. Pop on the leather armor with recovery reduction, equip the whispers of the Endless Paths, profit.
  7. Thank you to the folks that advised turning off steam overlay - that fixed the issue. I was literally banging my head against the wall in frustration.
  8. Well Dr <3 haven't played in a while. But I loaded things up to try out the new DLC items, and I have to say the belt is great on the Anvil. Fireshield basically on demand instead of with a potion? And subject to INT? It's like candy on Christmas.
  9. I spent some time building what I thought of as the ultimate "low micro" party. That included two rangers - Sagani as a Stormcaller Ranger and a hireline NPC as a Plaguecaller Ranger. Twice is nice with less micro overall. Overall party was: PC Kind Wayfarer Zahua (the AI is *solid* for monks) Hiravias (the only character with meaningful micro) Kana Chanter Sagani Stormcaller Hireline Plaguecaller Add a few scrolls for various immunities / hard counters and you're good to go.
  10. Your defenses are clearly strong. I worry that the offense is going to be a little on the boring side. So. What to do to beef up the offense / make things go faster? Some thoughts: - Boeroer's Engineer build is a W/S dwarf fighter. He uses scrolls, blunderbusses, animancer's boots and prestigidator's missiles for damage. - I'll re-emphasize - scrolls rock. I solo'd a fighter for Act 1 and Act 2 and scrolls owned. Quaff a Spirit Shield potion to prevent interrupts, trigger Disciplined Barrage and unleash hell. Or at least a fan of flames. - I would pump up your might to max if possible to help with damage.
  11. one thing that I like that's purely aesthetics - the WHAM when strange mercy triggers is audio / visually amazing. Never gets old.
  12. I agree with your comments Torm51. I used Strange Mercy & Shod-In-Faith, and that was more than enough. I would also get rid of Healing Chain. My build looks like this - my focus is on as many passive abilities as possible - just go kick butt and watch the healing flow. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- difficulty: 3.06 POTD with a full party -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- class: paladin (kind wayfarer) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- race: pale elf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- background: white-that-wends explorer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ stats: mig: 18 - Always vital for a healer / damager con: 9 - You'll heal quickly enough dex: 10 per: 20 - I use the Firebrand and accuracy is critical; I ended up at 29 +3 Caed Nua, +4 Excavator, +1 Song of Heavens, +1 Hylea's Boon int: 18 - Need max to keep firebrand uptime high (base 30 secs) res: 3 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- skills: high survival and lore - I capped Lore at 10 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- abilities and talents: lv1: flames of devotion lv2: strange mercy [all the healing you'll need for the most part, now that it scales] lv3: zealous focus [accuracy for firebrand] lv4: weapon focus soldier [accuracy for firebrand - doesn't have to be soldier] lv5: inspiring triumph [passive buff which will kick in A LOT] lv6: scion of flame [damage for firebrand] lv7: coordinated attacks [passive buff for others] lv8: veteran's recovery [if shod-in-faith doesn't kick in, you're toast] lv9: liberating exhortation [or reinforcing exhortation, if that's your style] lv10: two handed style [damage for firebrand] lv11: aegis of loyalty [works so well in conjunction with sacred immolation] lv12: savage attack [more damage for firebrand!] lv13: sacred immolation lv14: bear's fortitude [honestly 14-16 can be anything really] lv15: righteous soul lv16: deep faith or bull's will or superior deflection ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- in terms of equipment, the only vital things are forgemaster's gloves, excavator's cloak (or Lilith's shawl) and shod-in-faith. everything else is player choice.
  13. I have completed the game on POTD with a Kind Wayfarer ... twice. Once under 1.06 ruleset, once under 3.06 / White March / White March 2. I admittedly built mine a little bit differently, but its a strong build. Regarding your question on max values for conversations: I have seen a couple of Res 19 (Serel) and Int 19 (Rymrgand) checks. Not everyone will see them.
  14. Yes they can be charmed but that doesn't necessarily make them easy. Unless you're Pro Player, they take effort (i.e., how to buff your accuracy correctly, timing, encounter nuances, etc ...). I can charm the Alpine Dragon and still get wiped for getting ****y.
  15. I tried the high CON Rogue build and liked it. Finished a Triple Crown run with it. I ended up following the Tidefall + Alacrity route rather than dual Edge of Reason, mostly b/c I didn't want to do the Endless Paths again. Very sturdy, high damage build.
  16. Well, Dr <3, I have to tell you that I got whacked. I got WAY overconfident and went into the Eyeless ambush unprepared. That battle is easily winnable with this build, but I did not prepare correctly. Having played the build through Act I-III, White March I, I am confident it is good for Triple Crown Solo & Frozen Crown Solo. As long as you don't screw around like I did! I am of course replaying from scratch, because a man needs a challenge! The only modest change I made to my earlier build path: I swapped Stunning Shots for Force of Anguish. I am going to want that long knockdown for the Eyeless. I may also swap in Deep Pockets to carry an extra set of figurines
  17. In general, Fortitude is the stat to aim for. But that said, you will see a few nasty disables targeting Will. The biggest one I've seen is the Paralyze that Cean Glwas use - incidentally, it uses the same icon as the Chanter's paralyze invocation. I kept getting critted by those big jerks despite have 130 Fortitude and Body Control AND Fenwalkers. Then I actually bothered to read the combat log and took appropriate steps.
  18. Pure weapon damage, Stormcaller should be pretty far behind, I think, but I'm basing that on MaxQuest's analysis. But I think that was for a Cipher so probably included the lvl 13 attack speed increase spell. Returning Storm is just so good. I'm personally partial to the Plaguecaller that uses Twin Sting, but that's just me, and it's probably not optimized. Love me lots of Plague of Insects.
  19. Good to see that twelve year olds are playing this game as well. Bodes well for the future of isometric RPGs.
  20. Regarding the fight with Adaryc: Cruel 2+ has inevitably lead to a fight, in my experience. He has a dialog line referencing Cruel 2, along the lines of (paraphrasing): "Your reputation precedes you - you cannot be trusted. Attack!". It may be something that can be avoided with higher Diplomatic / Rational reputation though - not sure.
  21. Redeemer is OK on a Paladin if you don't have anything better to equip. But usually you'll have something better to equip. I'm not personally as enthused about Redeemer unless you're leveled above the Vessel. If the Vessel(s) are a higher level than you, the "Destroy Vessels" procs as ~40 raw damage (or in that range), which isn't as fun
  22. Well the two best ranged crit classes that would make use of a Bow are Rogue & Ranger, so hmmm. I guess I would go for a high Perception Cipher. Focus on Crowd Control spells like Mental Binding that will lower your target's defenses and thereby increase crit rate. My Rain of Godagh Cipher had a pretty high crit rate.
