There isn't a completion percentage but you can gauge on the world map- there are around 30 marked locations you can travel to, with another 10 or 11 added by the White March expansion if you got that. Your level might be a good indicator as well; you get 12 levels in the base game and 16 with WM installed, you'll reach the cap before the end of the game but not that long before

Did you kill Harmke?

Sounds to me like the government was tying itself in too many knots with red tape to carry out justice so it was up to good honest citizens to do what had to be done. -
I figured Abydon basically just incarnated himself into a giant because he thought a big rock would need a big person to stop it. Or maybe the gods did just walk the earth as giants in the old days. Also yeah, they do seem to have some strange limitations in what they think and do. Ondra commanded the Eyeless to destroy anyone who knew about the White Forge... after you turned it on and the news of the White Forge spread all across the Dyrwood. It's not until you point it out that she realises the scale of what would happen if they're not stopped. Eothas knew about Woedica's plot to steal the souls of the Dyrwood to restore herself to power... but wasn't able to just tell the other gods, and had to march on the Dyrwood himself to stop it. This is probably done for the sake of narrative, but it works well with the ending reveal that the gods are basically AIs. Finally you can indeed die in the crystal cave. I had low Constitution, no diving helmet, hadn't sent the souls of the Pargrun back to the Wheel, and don't know how to make Ondra save you herself, so I got a special ending slide about how I died stopping the Eyeless and the credits rolled.

Did you kill Harmke?

How about C.) Stay home and not commit a massacre of civilians? He didn't consider them civilians, he considered them traitors. So did he or did he not think murdering them was the right thing to do? If they're traitors it's not murder, it's capital punishment. -

Never underestimate the strength of peer pressure. Mob mentality is a powerful thing, and it's clear from the flashback that he was worried they'd turn on him if he looked weak. What was he supposed to do: A) attack an angry mob by himself with no weapons trying to defend a town of craven traitors and be instantly killed. OR B) throw a damn torch at a house and at least look like he's taking part -
Update #106: New Obsidian Game Announced!
house2fly replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Well? Only the highest, highest level of detail has been provided about the game thus far, and I assume a lot of that has to do with the fact that there's a publisher in the picture this time. It might be a while before you get any information about the religious leanings of the game world. We still don't even know if this is going to be a real time vs. turn based game, 2D vs. 3D, Isometric vs. some other perspective. We're a powerful evil guy though... so likely not going to be making attending Sunday morning church services too great of a priority. Well the Devs, surely know, they can say either 'Yes' or 'No' to what I asked, not asking them to divulge any more than that....... Honestly, not looking forward to suffer any pontification from Josh and his people about their personal convictions, this time around.........PoE final act was a bad enough experience already.... There is nothing wrong with being evil, I have played evil characters in other RPGs and served evil gods and enjoyed it very much but my problem is when someone start shouting their personal convictions in my ear, pushing me into the dark narrow corridors of their personal ideologies with no windows or doors to an alternate or opposing thought system. PoE final act was literally a horror in this regard, definitely not looking forward to go through such horror all over again....... That is why I asked what I asked and would sure love to know the answer with either a 'Yes' or a 'No', don't care about any details. lmfao that you were literally horrified by encountering an atheist in a video game -

He isn't a psycho killer who just loves burning down houses. If you want to punish a dangerous serial killer, punish Devil Of Caroc. -
I think Avellone said that if he was in charge they would have done companion romances because they're an Infinity Engine thing people wanted. Different people have different tastes, I personally like Durance and find him interesting, but they let you create custom NPCs specifically so if you don't like the pre made companions you can still have a priest/cipher/druid or whatever in your party. So just go to the nearest Inn and create your perfect moƩ priestess and kick Durance to the curb.

It's impressive that you could beat every non-dragon fight without casting spells, to the point that you've somehow got the idea that casting spells is an exploit. -

Pillars of Eternity 2 questions
house2fly replied to Daermon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If you can just use your companions to pass skill checks for you then there's no point in having skill checks at all. The point of them is that you, the player, get feedback through conversations reinforcing the validity of your skill point investments. I prefer stuff like Grieving Mother in Blood Legacy, where a quest can resolve in a different way only if you have a certain party member with you. -
Thaos leaves standing orders for the Leaden Key to do stuff in his absence. Anyway, rather than tearing it down stone by stone and wire by wire why not just destroy it when you're given the option.

1 Year
house2fly replied to Xaratas's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I started a new playthrough to experience all the patched stuff and expansion stuff with a fresh character, what good timing that it was a year to the day after the game came out. Thanks for a great game Obsidian, and I hope I get to play a sequel. -
Main Story, an atheist cliche?
house2fly replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Well, just telling people wouldn't be much use because where's the evidence? You only know because you can look into people's souls. Eder has the right idea in the only ending I can ever get for him, when he decides that people are better believing in other people than the gods and tries to be the change he wants to see. "We maybe don't really need the gods and shouldn't have to rely on them" is a better message for people than "the gods aren't real! Bohemian Grove conspiracy! Infowars.com!" -

it should be off the east exit: http://game-maps.com/PoE/img/Pillars-of-Eternity-World-Map.jpg If you don't see it that may be a bug. Did you rest at the Gilded Vale inn and speak to the ghost about being a Watcher? -
Main Story, an atheist cliche?
house2fly replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
The gods suffuse a huge amount of the game, half your companions are defined by their relationship with their gods and they crop up in quests frequently, to say nothing of the driving force of the main plot being the gods involving themselves directly in mortal affairs. If someone didn't care about the reveal after 65 hours of that they wouldn't care three games in either. -
Original NPC portraits by Obsidian
house2fly replied to Messier-31's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Galvino's portrait is great and he's a great character so I don't mind him having a portrait. I agree the leader of the Iron Flail should have gotten one.
