  1. Wait! Eder wasn’t gay in POE1? Sheesh.... that changes everything.
  2. I play PoTD and never/very rarely max Might scores. Amazingly I still get through all fights. How is this even possible? Strategy, party synergy and mostly just using common sense.

  4. Psychology is not necessary the reason. Maybe for the millenials but most gamers that I know are older and definitely are not into the BG/PoE style CRPG style games for DPS outcome. They are into the game for the RP experience. Of course there are ALOT more younger players compared to us old timers so who knows....
  5. I always try to play an unusual class and after getting my ass kicked a few times in the first fight, I start over as a fighter (or a rogue so I can scout ahead and don't get stumped by traps or locks). I'm doing it right now in the Deadfire beta. If you have to count on magic protection and good attacks that run out mid fight you have no choice but to hang back. That's a little like you're in the game's game if you know what I mean. I look for characters that promise exciting interesting play and storyline. I don't play dwarves because they are (traditionally) slow and don't feel different enough to be compelling in spite of that. I've played Godlike in PoE but (I don't think) you can change the appearance so it hasn't become my thing. Everyone who plays is playing the same character and that doesn't appeal. I don't think I've ever played a human in an RPG. I've also never played as a white dude though I do in fact make the character resemble me as much as possible. I currently have 3 play throughs as a dwarf. A Barb, a Battle Priest of Magran and a Chanter (Solo). I love Dwarves. Borreals for exceptional DPS builds and Mountain Dwarves for more of a RP/Story experience. BGEEs brought us Dwarven Defenders. Played that class first upon the EE releases. I have 3 close friends who played PoE, they all played at least one completed game with a dwarf. I guess they can track metrics these days via Steam and what have you but that they are saying no one plays dwarves and no one plays Priests seems very odd to me. It doesn't seems odd to me. Play any MMORPGs and watch how many DPS they are compared to tank and healers (answers: healer and tanks are super rare) and the race distribution: dwarf is always at the bottom. But this isn’t a MMORPG. I fully understand the DPS solo play of the MMORPG. POE is a completely different type of monster.

  7. These armor systems would balance better if some type of encumberanced is used to balance out heavy armor abuse. My weakling Wizzy would have all kinds of trouble moving aroundin Plate. Hence give him a negative mod to his defense because of it. It’s not a class thing, but a stat thing.
  8. The Planar Sphere in BG2 with it giving us D&D fans an experience with crossing of the various PnP campaigns. Knights of Solmania and Cannibal Darksun Halflings, plus the whole Valugar storyline of him being a hater/hunter of mages due to his evil ancestor. Cool....
  9. Definitely rescuing Imoen which springs Yoshimo’s betrayal. On my first play through it totally caught me off guard. I was PISSED at him and myself for not seeing it coming! Also my first BG run. I had both Khalid/Jaheira and Monty/Xzar combos in my party. Once they bantering and I realized I had Harpers and Zhents in my party then they start fighting. Also the same with the Minsc, Dynaheir and Edwin triangle. Games just didn’t include that level of NPC interaction back then. Those moments were Unforgettable to me....
  10. There was Enter the Ninja back in 1981. I think a real old ninja movie was Castle of Owls or something along that line. As a kid in the late 70s/ early 80s I remember Wizardry 1 having a Ninja class and many old Japanese movies with ninjas by the scores. Hell, even AD&D had a ninja class in the original Oriental Adventures. Everyone should of known all about them by the time TMNT came about...
  11. That was the problem with the WM for me. I preferred to play it upscaled content style but that meant going there early as possible to build my party. Devil was a bitch to get to. I would of preferred picking her up in he town, maybe on a mission to add a second smile to someone’s, just located a little lower in the neck.
  12. No need to cheat to get a full party at the Black Hound. I can always sell all my unused equipment and hire 5 level 1 hirelings. Then you rest and then talk to the hanging dwarf and voila they are lvl 2.
  13. Quick! Think of a word that describes someone who hangs out with you all of the time, but isn’t a friend. “Companion” is already taken. First word to come to mind is Bit..
  14. Any melee class with the fire sword from the gauntlets or the belt works. Add in Scion if Flame and our good to go.
  15. Cernd was powerful in SoA. Not as useful in ToB though. It’s great when he stomps Faldorn in the Druid fight. For me that is why he is memorable.
  16. I rather liked the keep. Stats boosts were a nice touch. Bounties were awesome. The attacks could of been better scripted. The dungeon needed just a little more fleshing out, but was still more than efficient on my first run thru.
  17. I make a completely different PC every run. I like to try all races and classes and I like to match their aesthetic choices to the Pic I choose for them. I like Dwarves a lot. Usually choose them as one of my first 3 runs.
  18. Ding Ding.... Round 3 (couldn’t find a pic of a bubbly scorecard girl in a string bikini, sorry guys....)
  19. I find my Rogues get easily plinked by Archers. I try to make sure their armor has the pierce proof enchantment. When your Rogue engages in melee he usually chops any opponent down very quickly, so I don’t worry about the other defense types for his armor. Any missile defense item/spell is a good defense for a Rogue. Makes me think it would combo well with Monk in Deadfire.
  20. I say we engage Josh concerning the lack of characters who have disabilities, shortcomings and outright bad gas/loud belching issues. Possibly body odor as well. These shortcomings, like a lazy eye that really creeps out everyone around them, should be utilized to the players advantage. Possibly causing a fear effect. Or some butt explosions that definitely cause an AoE incendiary cloud. Bad BO could cause ACC Malus for the enemy.
  21. Not a problem for people like me who always switch party members. There were 11 companions + the player character in PoE1, so I had plenty of use for most of the good weapons I found. I'll do the same in PoE2. Good point. I found I had a ton of non-usable weapons in PoE1 by end game because of my build choices. But I didn’t mind it as it did leave open many more runs for use of those extra weapons.
  22. Profiency systems work if you have enough teammates to cover most if not all weapon types. For example Wizardry 8 with a 6 man team plus 2 NPCs did a fine job in that regard. Limiting the team to 5 makes it way more frustrating when you find the Pollaxe that rocks...
  23. What about the Monk? Torment’s Reach does AoE correct? You can get that in Act 1. What can you stack with that ability?
