Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
Blades of Vanatar replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I for one will be holding Sawyer to that commitment of not reducing party size any further in any future game.I'm hoping that, in the next game, party size will be reduced to 5 dwarves. So two-and-a-half character, depending on how you count them. Weight-wise it’s a 10 man party.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
Blades of Vanatar replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Example - Wizardry: Knight of Diamonds required imported characters from game 1. Later versions changed the requirement when the game changed to Wizardry II: Knight of Diamonds. I believe the part 3 required the same from part 2.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
Blades of Vanatar replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Or, at least, they assumed you read the manuals Back in the 90s it was safe for them to assume so as there were far less games and far less players, let alone no easily accessed info from the net. The net was blowing up back then, but still in its infancy. So players only had their manuals to rely on. I love manuals and hate today’s model of download the game and print your own manual or read the pdf file. (I’ll probably never shed my old school ways.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
Blades of Vanatar replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)What’s wrong with single story arcs? As long as they are in the same system/game world they could easily be completely fulfilling. You'll find I argued they are fine as long as certain efforts are made, just as you've done. Completely misread it. My bad.

Who else is doing there first playthrough with all single class?
My PC will probably be a powerful multi class Rogue/other melee warrior type. But I will play my spellcasters as single classes as I love top tier spellcasting.

Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers, part III
Blades of Vanatar replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)No one says this about anything but videogames. If someone chose to read Lord of the Rings starting with the Two Towers, you'd think they were crazy. It's only video games that are expected to have either little to no continuity or tons of recap. I don't know how this happened but it's universal to the medium and will prevent meaningful continuations from ever occurring. That assumption is untrue. Going back to early 80s (I’m old...) some video game trilogies required completion of game 1 in order to continue in game 2. Other trilogies did not. It all depends on the developer.

Need some advice getting back into the game (PotD)
Do you only use One Arquebus for your Cipher? Use many then switch to a pike to attack from back row or flanks until using Cipher powers. Switch Eder’s weapon to something that deals damage like Tidefall or start dual wielding. He is a lvl 9-10 fighter so his defense should already be skyrocketing. Make sure you are debugging with Aloth/GM nad buffing with Durance to start most battles. Immediate buff/debuff to start battles is huge.

rogues do not suck
Blades of Vanatar replied to Gromnir's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If your playing in a party buffs will still stack plenty of ACC to crit often with a Rogue.

OMG are Fighters powerful in Deadfire
...................yep they downgraded the one of the weakest classes even more This is a CRPG. Not every aspect of the game needs to be concerning how fast you kill your enemies. Rogues just do it differently than the Warriors. I think skulking behind the enemy lines, shredding enemies and disappearing back into the darkness is the most enjoyable part of using a Rogue. I find them more challenging and more rewarding. Weakest? Heck no....Just a different play style.

A Messy & Broken Launch
Blades of Vanatar replied to SonicMage117's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)What board member wields enough power to cast a Resurrection to bring Josh back? I think our archmages need to form a Wizard’s circle and start casting...

rogues do not suck
Blades of Vanatar replied to Gromnir's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Thanks for the insights Gromnir. A Very enjoyable read as always. Single class Rogue or one of its subclasses will be my initial choice upon release.

What class/build did you enjoy the most in PoE?
Mohawked Redheaded Mountain Dwarf Barbarian dual wielding Axes. Maxed DR(switched armors regularly for max DR, Binding Belt, etc...) with high Mig, Per and Int. Looked awesome and played awesome. Had a Warhammer Troll Slayer-ish look. Best part of PoE was the kajillion types of builds and looks you could create. All partybased crpgs should take note....

How much DLC is planned for POE 2?
Blades of Vanatar replied to Stardusk78's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Because listening to boring scripts is much more enjoyable... To be fair I like good voice acting for most of the script. At least, for the first couple of play throughs. THEN it becomes boring and gets in the way of rapid build advancement.

Blades of Vanatar replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)My experience of Philadelphia has been more: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/55215c2ce4b0e4ad50063b7d/t/59bac97018b27d192ced976b/1505413490961/?format=1000w The Eagle in the hyperrealistic dog mask did win me over a little---don't think I've ever seen Josh wearing an actual realistic Frog Helm (that looks a lot like a frog). (Frog with pickled peppers at Chili Szechuan in West Philadelphia is wonderful.) But back on topic.... Nah... Nothing beats Tony Luke’s chicken cutlet broccoli rabe samwich with the garlic and sharp provy!

How To Build The Devil Of Caroc?
I took her as an Assassin, dual wielding Stilletos. She was excellent. Maxing Crit and to hit. Siding with the Doemenals.

What are you playing right now?
I am revisiting the Gild box games of the 80s. Starting with the Champions of Krynn. Opened with a major encounter with a Taunt by my Kender Ranger. Black Dragon breath proceeded to rain down on him though he completely saved my party by drawing the acid to him. I proceeded to nuke them with fireballs from 3 characters, followed by 2 Knights with 2 handers. I love these old games....

Fearmongering thread
Blades of Vanatar replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)We find out Obsidian closed their doors and fired everyone 11 months ago. The real Josh Sawyer is actually locked away for good in an insane asylum and he walks around in a Barney suit, all the while eating Cheetos and leaving giant, orange, greasy paw prints on his co-crazies white hospital gowns.
