  1. Was emo actually ever as huge as nu-metal in the first place? Hell, was emo ever even big? The only emo bands I can remember hearing that weren't from far before the 'emo explosion' are Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy and From Autumn To Ashes. Well, and Straylight Run, but that's basically Taking Back Sunday anyway. Not too big a deal. It's just a flow of music instead of a phenomenom. Emo seems way bigger because, though nu-metal was way more huge, their followers are not nearly as annoying as emo kids.
  2. Is that even a real Panda? It looks like a plushie.
  3. ...huh? Wha? I've seen Pantera being called a lot of things. Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Jock Metal, Proto-Nu Metal, even plain Hard Rock. But Trash Metal? They don't have the SPEED for Trash Metal.
  4. Emo is gone already, replaced by annoying brit-rock. Incubus was not nu-metal in the days of S.C.I.E.N.C.E., because S.C.I.E.N.C.E. cannot be placed into a single genre. The diversity is too great. Incubus pre-Make Yourself is pretty much Mr. Bungle 2.0. Also, I can see why you'd hate Crow Left Of The Murder (which is terrible with the exception of one song, pretty much), but but I like Morning View a lot. It may be basically a pop-album, but there's some great songwriting on there.
  5. EElS - The Medication Is Wearing Off The medication
  6. Uh. Wow. CNN called it an alien face? Woe is the world. Everyone is stupid.
  7. Kate Beckinsale saves a lot of bad movies by just standing there and looking pretty. I saw Aeon Flux. Horrid.
  8. Currently unemployed, going to study animation next year.

    Comics

I recently started reading about the best comic book hero ever in the world. DEADPOOL.
  11. Ditto. Make an album, learn how to sing, get better at playing guitar, make a movie, do comics, write a novel, write children's books, work on a video game.
  12. I use Flash, mostly.
  13. Beck - Devil's Haircut
  14. Why is 10 thousand fists hard rock? It sounds like traditional metal to me. I suppose that also works, but they're not 'metal' in any contemporary sense. For the record, I actually like Disturbed. It's one of the bands that helped me to get into music in the first place.
  15. Nu metal stands for New Urban Metal. Slipknot and System of a Down are not and were never nu metal, they are alternative metal (especially the latter), and Disturbed hasn't been nu metal since The Sickness. Believe and Ten Thousand Fists are just hard rock. Hell, all these bands (Disturbed as of recently) do guitar solos, and better ones than some 'classic metal bands' might I add. Most notably, Slayer. Kerry King never learned guitar scales, and his solos end up just being random notes which sound like utter dingo. I feel sorry for half the bands with downtuned guitars that started playing music during the nu metal time, because they were all lumped into the same group. Incubus (whose genre varies - 'Morning View' was pretty much just pop rock) and Godsmack (post-grunge, most notably ripping off Alice In Chains) are prime examples.
  16. EElS - Mental "They say I'm mental 'cause I'm not amused by it all, not at all."
  17. what are your favorite albums of theirs? Kamelot? Epica is their best, but Karma and the recent The Black Halo. I don't dig much of their earlier stuff, because they had a different singer and guitarist who both weren't that good.
  18. You pretty much have all the trash metal you need in pre-Black Album Metallica and Testament. If you need some more good Power Metal, Kamelot is the best Power Metal band I have ever heard.
  19. Whoo. Hooray for abuse of human rights!
  20. Tom Waits - Barcarolle
  21. Foamy has a good deal of true things to say about Atkins.
  22. Wait, Baley, since when are the Melvin's metal? I thought they were punk rock/proto grunge. Broken Social Scene - Finish Your Collapse And Stay For Breakfast Broken Social Scene's selftitled got a lot of crap it didn't deserve. HORGH! I quite agree with this. Also, Burzum is pretty hilarious if you forget the stabbings and church burnings and nazism.
  23. Personally, I'd go for Opeth's Blackwater Park, but I'm not much of a death or black metal fan anyway. Isis, Pelican, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Mastodon and Finntroll are pretty much all the 'extreme metal' bands I listen to. EElS Live At Town Hall has not ended. Currently on: Spunky
  24. The EElS Live At Town Hall
  25. I saw Doom - which was... okay for an action movie, but totally not Doom. At all. It was more like, Resident Evil: The Movie, in Space. (Resident Evil was also okay for an action movie, but totally not Resident Evil. This seems to be in keeping with the game-to-movie trend.) Serenity - which was AWESOME. I didn't know this film was enjoyable for people who haven't seen Firefly.
