  1. Well, of course no leader in our history is perfect. George Washington didn't really view blacks as equals until he fought and lived with them in the Revolutionary War. After that, his entire outlook on them changed. Every leader has flaws, but you can't erase every good thing they did because of their flaws. I'm not accusing you of doing that, I'm just saying it to make a point. My education system may be unique, but I was taught/am being taught about our leaders' flaws often. Both of my history teachers in the past two years were big patriots, yet even they pointed out the fallacies of America and its leaders. I don't know which school you go to Calax, but my school never potrayed Kennedy as a saint. I don't think it's even fair to say America as a whole potrays Kennedy as a saint. There is a difference between patriotism and blind patriotism. As for our education, I do think it needs serious reworking, history being one of them. We do need to be taught about our leaders' strenghts and weaknesses, but most of all we need to be accurate and fair in our portrayal of them. And of course, you won't be seeing Kennedy or Nixon embedded in Rushmore. As for dubya being scrutinized by the press, it's already being done. God bless the U.S.
  2. Um, no, Lincoln was a great leader because he actually did things for this country. " George Washington wasn't killed in office, yet many consider him a great leader. Many historians agree that if Lincoln wasn't killed, he would have done a better job of restoring the country and mending relations with the south. He used the theme of "with malice toward none" for repairing relations with the south. Unless you're a south/slavery sympathizer, I don't understand how you could call him a BAD leader. He's one of the people who helped make this country better. :D Go America.
  3. Hey, SOE, if you think that's good, I found some nice K3 screenshots right here. It's looking pretty good.
  4. Oh, please, no matter how smart he is, Atton could take Disciple in a fight any day. Actually, Mical just might run away crying after the first punch was thrown. :D Heck, Bastila could take him in a fight.
  5. Is it just me, or do most people who win these kinds of contests be lightweight? I've seen a 103 pounder beat a 400 pound guy in a fruitcake eating contest.
  6. And we all know what happened to Kennedy... " And Nixon, of course, had to resign or else he'd be deep-fried. (watergate scandal)
  7. Well, Metadigital, if you even bothered to read my posts, you would have realized that I did recognize Greece as a democracy. As I said, though, their empire collapsed a long time ago. The U.S. was one of the first countries to put Democracy into successful use in the more modern times. That is what I meant, but you're putting words into my mouth. I never said we were the founders of democracy. We are not soley responsible, we just contributed. I know all about the age of enlightenment, but we were among the first to actually put it into practice AND make it work in the modern age. As for the Iraq war, if you still think we're in there for economoic interests, you're wrong. Any $$$ we hoped to make from it is now drowned out by the billions of dollars it is costing us now. And the last time I checked, we are still paying over 2$ a gallon for gas. And of course, our soldiers are dying almost every day. Ironically, the highest number of casualties from terrorists in Iraq are actually Iraqis. The main reason we are in there is the "you break it you fix it" policy. We went into war based on faulty intelligence that Bush based his theories on. Only after the war did we realize our huge mistake. I'm not 100% behind Bush in all his actions. I felt he made many mistakes in the Iraq war, in fact. But we can't change that now. All we can hope for is to be able to work with the Iraqis and stabilize their country. If we can't, then all our work is in vain. When Saddam's regime fell, you saw Iraqis dancing in the streets and defacing statues of him. He was not liked. Unfortunately, many of his loyalists, foreign extremists, and even some Iraqis are trying desperately to undermine our efforts there. That, and many Iraqis are discontented with the situation there. It's been proven that most terrorist attacks are commited by foreign extremists. As I said, most casualties from TERROR attacks have been Iraqis. If we pull out now, we will leave their country vulnerable. We learned that lesson back in Afghanistan - we left them to fend for themselves after helping them defeat the Russians. Big mistake. Oh, and as for the electoral college, I am heavily in favor of getting rid of that. I doubt we'll see it happening any time soon because the bigger states don't want to lose influence. And please, people, can we stop turning this into a heated political discussion? Please?
  8. Really? Yes, I know that. And I know plenty about the French Revolution, thank you very much. Thank you, France. Oh, and the last time I checked, the American Revolution ended way before the French Revolution.
  9. Just a quick note: This is not something that's unique for the USA. Every rich country in the world that has poor neighbours has the same 'problem'. Immigration always goes from poor to rich, that's quite natural. Not every nation in the world is so vocal about their problems though. Those damn finns keep sneaking over our borders! Curse them! Curse them all! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Almost every western country has immigration problems. Italy for example has had similar cases with immigrant from Africa. Immigrants are trying to get from worse to better in one brief leap. I would say USA has probably the biggest problem of all western countries, but that
  10. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of course we can. We can't take all credit for it of course, but some. And don't ascribe motives to people who were long dead for hundreds of years. I have read history a lot, and I know that not everyone had virtuous motives (Sam Adams for one), but we fought for the right cause, and in the end, won. I am referring to the American Revolution. And for your last comment, if that were true, why would we have a huge immigration problem? Why would we be recieving all these illegal immigrants from Mexico, the Carribean, the Middle East, and other places? Why would we have immigrants who die try to come over here if this country isn't worth it? There was an incident earlier this year where Cuban immigrants died trying to reach Florida's shore. Why don't you go and ask them why they died trying to get here? Or maybe you could ask the Mexican immigrants who died trying to cross a river to get to the U.S earlier this year. Mexico is a democratic country, last time I checked, but they still seem to want to come over here. " In fact, it's because of immigration that Hispanics are now the largest minority in the U.S. As for my quote, I meant that only recently have we actually given equal freedom to all. In the begining, most rights were for white males. Only until the 20th century did we give blacks and women the right to vote. Not until the civil rights movement did we give blacks equal freedoms as whites. We are not a perfect country. We were never a perfect country. But I think we are far better off than we were, and we are definitely better off than many countries in the world.
  11. Being a cynical bastard I would say that above statement is the pure effect of the Straussian notion of "necessary illusions to uphold a sense of national pride and purpouse" and " to propagate myths necessary to give ordinary people meaning and purpose as to ensure a stable society". In reality, the US is no more a bastion of freedom than any other democratic country like Canada or France or Finland. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No matter what you say, we were the first. (you could say greece was, but their empire collapsed long ago). Of course we're not the only one anymore, but we are the spark that started it all, and we are the second-biggest democracy in the world (under India). And it is no myth-it's fact in the sense that we are a free, democratic country and have represented that ideal for a long time. Unfortunately, only recently have we truly begun to realize that ideal. @Lucius: It really depends on your concept of defeat. Sometimes, as in Vietnam's case, defeat can be a hard adjective to use. IMO, it wasn't defeat as much as a stalemate. We gave up because of the lack of support at home and the mounting casualties. We as Americans tend to place a greater value on lives than some other countries, and tend to frown upon casualties in any circumstance. Because of that, we weren't defeated military wise, but were defeated mentally-wise. The Vietnamese in the end had more stamina, and we decided to pull out. As I said, though, that's my opinion, and it's difficult to interpret it one way.
  12. Very well. Here it is! Oh - and be warned: it's a kind of sick. And as I said, I don't think it's as fun.
  13. Hey, that's not funny! I knew it was too good to be true.
  14. Are they different? I never noticed. It could be just another of the game's inconstancies. As for Bastila, as I said, she was in hiding, so the Sith couldn't find her. The exile wasn't in hiding, and was made a quick target for the Sith. In the end, you find out it was Atris who leaked information of your return to the Republic and that's why the Sith are on your tail. Atris was sick of being historian and also wanted to lure the Sith out so the Republic and she could fight them.
  15. Not really. We realized it was not worth the casualties and resentment and pulled out. If I remember correctly, the number of enemy casualties outnumbered the amount of American casualties. In the words of George Washington: "Strategic retreat over honorable defeat". But that's my opinion, and war can be kind of confusing at times. Go America!!!!
  16. 1,355 feet!! Oh yeah!! There is a game kind of like this on AlbinoBlackSheep.com - it's called bloody pingu throw. (instead of a cannon it's a yeti with an evil-looking bat). But it's not as fun. :D
  17. 1. Do you mean, in the game? It was never rebuilt in the game - it was ruins left over from Malak's bombardment of the planet. It never says if the Enclave is ever rebuilt after K2. 2. The mass shadow generator is a device Bao-Dur helped build and was used on Malchor V. It multiplied the planet's gravity so much that all life on it was crushed (Mandalorians, republic soldiers) and the planet imploded on itself. That was what won the war. As for the name, I have no clue. The device actually contradicts the K1 storyline, which stated the Mandalorians were defeated by Revan's forces in a huge fleet battle. 3. The exile inadvertently cut himself off from the force because the pain felt from Malchor V was so great that he needed to do it to survive, although he had no clue he actually did it. It was never really fully explained, though. 4. Traya lied to the exile and made him believe that if she killed herself, he too, would die. When she went to Malachor, the exile was afraid she would kill herself and he would die also. That, and she was trying to destroy the force for some lame reason. 5. Not entirely sure. I think they used that model because that's how Revan looked in K1, and it would't be possible to show Revan's face because he really had no official face (I'm assuming you've played K1). 6. Once again, it's something not explained by the game's genious developers. <_< The belief out there is that she knew that something bad was going to happen and that she left the order and went into hiding. She says in the message left in T3 that she had seen glimpses of the future and the bond she shared with Revan didn't allow him to hide everything from her. Some also believe that she left because of her love for male Revan and knew the Jedi order wouldn't accept their relationship. Hope that clears some things up. I don't have all the answers, but that's what I've gathered from these forums and the game.
  18. Happy birthday, America!! Go USA!! And on this day, let's remember our troops overseas who are still putting their lives on the line in an unfamiliar country. Make sure we never forget their sacrifice.
  19. Well, it can be done, I think. The only problem would be coming up with a scenario where it can happen.
  20. So the dumb sh*t wants to play? Okay f*ckwit - let's dance! For starters, do you actually have any shred of usefulness to contribute to this forum other than your obvious inferiority? Seemingly every thread you visit you swark the same damn thing like a parrot, "Rwrawwwk. I think it'd be kewl to whore like an idiot because I enjoy seeing my spam since it's so realistic to not have a *real* discussion and I just bet every poster in the whole world will love it too. Rwark what's that? Not worth arguing you say? Nonsense! Why?... Rwark because I like it." After Numberman's ghastly pic I'm in for a good chuckle, so keep me amused fool. Dance puppet dance! MWHEHEHE! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, but you really have no room to talk because you posted the wrong picture. And now you're trolling by churning out insults and behaving exactly like you claim Jodo is. Dance, puppet, dance!!! And for the last time, stop spaming. If you can't stop, do it in the "Way off topic" forum. If K3 did a scene where you could take control of a fighter for one or two scenes, that might be pretty sweet. It could be for only one or two scenes, but I think it would be good, say, if it was needed to complete a certain quest.
  21. This thread won't be locked. At worst (?), it'll be pruned. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, hey, you never know. Better safe than sorry, I guess. @ Calax: you're probably right. If they included actual space battles in K3, it would be sweet. But more like the ones in X-Wing, not like in K1 where you were running from the same six fighters after you left a planet. the key here is trying to find a balance.
  22. Because he's a buffoon. And a hypocrite. He doesn't seem to like it when people get him to stop trolling. And yes, he does seriously need to grow up. Actually, in K1, I thought the turret was overused. In K2, it was underused. I'm wondering if they should just abandon it altogether.
  23. Shut up, buffoon! :D Back to business:  Oh yeah...I do remember Kreia saying the line "no game of dejarik can be won without pawns". Are there official rules for that? Has LA actually made them up yet, or is it something that can still be done?
  24. I'd like to see that holo chess they played on the Falcon. I just realised something. It's not that easy thinking up ,mini games for Star Wars <{POST_SNAPBACK}> (w00t) Agree 100%. They should try to incorporate that into K3. They could even put it in your ship so you can play it with a party member or a droid (T3). You could try playing with HK-47, but he'd probably shoot you if he lost anyway.
  25. And now, Metadigital, you've degenerated into insulting Jodo for trying to get you to stop arguing about something off-topic. You called him a buffoon. Hypocrite. <_< If anything, you should have shut up five pages ago cause you and ShadowPaladin are the ones who are spamming. And the GTA strategy guide is not the same thing as playing GTA. You still don't seem to be grasping my point at all. Not only have you acted in an arrogant, short-sighted manner, you can't seem to stop insulting others. You really are behaving like an ass. Go on and make some snide comeback. I really don't care anymore. Pack your bags and leave. And now for something on-topic: In K2, it had most of the mini-games that were in K1: Pazaak, swoop racing, and one turret scene. I think it might be a good idea if they try to incorporate other mini-games into K3. While i like pazaak, i think they could try something new. As for swoop racing, they should rework it so it's longer and a little less linear. K2 did this a little, but they might want to try something else in K3. While this isn't a mini-game (more of a sidequest) I wouldn't mind doing bounty-hunting like they did in K1. It would be an easy way for a DS pc to gain some credits. :D Or for LS pc's, they could play vigilante or work for the authorities on some planets to get criminals off the streets.
