H.G. Wells was a genius. :D He was way ahead of his time. Having read "The War of the Worlds", it is one of my favorites. In it H.G. Wells incorporates machines, space travel, extraterrestrial life, heat rays, flying machines, and even chemical warfare! This year, a low-budget DVD movie made by Pendragon based on the book was released. I thought it was pretty good and very close to the book, even with its mediocre special effects and sometimes weird sound. I'll have to wait and see what the new movie is like. I'm not keeping high expectations for it (and that's not just because of Tom Cruise). The recent "Time Machine" movie was horrible. And many movies of that type today are just special effects shows.

Re: Question/Thoughts On Kreia Ending
Dark Moth replied to Lord_Peter's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think she had to die. When you defeated her first (as a LS) she activates the 3 lightsabers and says "You will not show me mercy". I can see it being a test, but why did you have to kill her? I guess Kreia felt she had to die by the exile's hand for some strange reason. One thing I hated most was the True Sith revelation. For me, it was like "You are beautiful to me, exile...You must leave Visas/handmaiden behind...the Republic will fall...oh, and by the way, the True Sith are out there" *falls over and dies* If the storytellers wanted to improve it, they would have made the True Sith the game's big revelation and focused more on that than Kreia and Revan. You finished the game not knowing anything about the true Sith, just that they are there. -

Sion to Kreia: Mommy mommy! The exile is being mean to me again! Make him stop! Nihilus (looks in mirror): I'm gaining wait. I think I'll get some force Snack Wells from now on. GO-TO: I also make a quite versatile bowling ball if you ever are in need of a strike. Atton to female exile: Can I tell you a secret? I hate pazaak. -
I agree. Before Malachor V, she probably was good in the Jolee Bindo sense - always asking questions, challenging the assumptions of the Jedi masters, genuinely trying to open her students' minds to new ideas. But on Malachor she found the wrong answers, and stopped asking the right questions. After that, whether as a Sith Lord or exiled from both sides, she went on to make more and more evil choices. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kreia was, at worst, amoral, not immoral and evil. Big difference, because Kreia is more a chaotic good; she seeks to save the universe from eternal slavery, shackled to the monstrously meglomaniacal Force: Kreia is single-minded, not evil. You'll see, when you realise your destiny is controlled by something else, and you are just a actor forced to follow a script written by someone else for their own benefit. ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Geez, how many times must I say that the force does not control you?!! The force can, at most, influence, but in the end, you make the choice. Jolee Bindo said it himself: destiny does not mean your future is written. Kreia was, I think, dillusional because she thought she had no free will. You are not an actor following a script! Look at Anakin: he had a destiny, but he rejected it until the very end; only his son could convince him to reject the darkside. If the force could control everything, why would it create someone who wants to kill it?!! Kreia wanted to blame everyone else but herself for her actions, and the force ended up being her final scapegoat. Join the anti-anti-force coalition league!

I thought I did use red... Maybe it's my computer, but his DS side looks dark red. As for is armor, his cape is covering it. I think. :"> Woops! I thought you were referring to me, for a second. Nevermind.

Thats not true because in Kotor 1 you could still make darkside choices in the end and still have a light side ending. Based on popularity alone Kotor 1 would win. But imagine if these two stories were novelized? I would bet that Kotor 2 would definetly be the better of the two Novels. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True, but I'm saying that if you take the endings alone, lightside or darkside, they are very different. I am also including the very last part of the game as well, not just the ending cinematic. K2's endings were different too, but not as much. Depending on your choice of an ending, you accomplished different things in the end in K1. In K2 the difference wasn't as pronounced. I do agree that K2 would make a better book, though. However, the stuff I got in K2 I would rather get as reading a book, not playing a game. K1's would probably also make a decent novel, though maybe not as good.

I do believe that Kreia may have been good before Malachor V. But after her corruption and being betrayed by the Jedi, she turned evil. I think at the time she was hiding behind a mask of neutrality, or she really did believe she was neutral despite her true nature.

Alright, thanks for the help, so here it is. :D This pic is a rendering of Revan in his robes. It's to show his dual nature; how he can be both good or evil depending upon your choices. He is whomever you choose he is! I had to sort of make up what I thought his robes would look like if he were lightside. I know it's not great, but give me a break, I'm using paint. I edited this cause I noticed Revan had no neck! Fixed.

Can someone help me out here? I want to post an image as a thumbnail, but I don't know how. :"> I'm not even sure exactly how to upload a picture from my computer.

T3: Beep boop deed-deet. (why yes, I do know where Revan is.) GO-TO: On second thought, you don't have to take me along. Just drop me off at the nearest cantina. Kreia: OK, you're right. I'll stop bitching at you for the rest of the trip. Mira: Oh exile, I love you! Hanharr: Aww, a puppy. Can I keep him? Vrook, Kavar, and Zez-Kai Ell: Let's go fight the Sith! Vrook: You're right. I am an arrogant, opinionated schutta. Visas: Step into the cargo hold, and I'll show you real "force sex". -
Actually, I never thought of it that way, but you're right. Revan could have used the darkside's power to try and fight the Sith, but in the end became controlled by it and lost his purpose to protect the Republic. That is still open to interpretation, however. I hated how after KOTOR II, Revan seemed less like your character. To say that he was still LS when Malak betrayed him is still, I think, rediculous. Even if he left many worlds intact, that was because he wanted to use them for his own ends more than he cared about the life on those worlds. By the way, Arch Enemy, how are the Jedi as evil as the Sith? Enlighten me, please. If you're using KOTOR II as your background, then remember this: the developers twisted the Jedi to make them less good and fit their own perception of the Star Wars universe.

Even with the lack of an ending, confusing and yet razor thin plot, and the virtually nonexistant Sith. KOTOR I may have been cliche, but I think it was still better by far. One of things I disliked most was that whether light or dark, your choices didn't matter, because you still accomplished basically same thing in the big picture. In the first, the last part of the game as well as the ending were very different depending on your light/darkside alignment.

You scored as Yoda. You are master Yoda. Yoda's teachings are far reaching within the Jedi order. Ever the diplomat, scholar and teacher - Yoda seeks to enlighten through wisdom, experience and discipline. Yoda employs the lightsaber form Ataru in which the practioner uses The Force in conjunction with his own physical prowess to achieve unparalleled acrobatic skill, accuracy and speed. Skill is stressed over raw power. He has trained many Master Jedi - most notably Count Dooku, Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi and is one of only four Jedi to have preserved his personal identity after death. Yoda - 89% Luke Skywalker - 82% Qui-Gon Jinn - 82% Obi-Wan Kenobi (Pre Death of Qui-Gon Jinn) - 79% Obi-Wan Kenobi (Post Death of Qui-Gon Jinn) - 71% Mace Windu - 68% Darth Revan - 57% Exar Kun - 54% Anakin Skywalker - 50% Darth Sidious - 50% Bastila Shan - 46% Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus - 46% Darth Maul - 32% Darth Vader - 29%

Being neutral doesn't equal being some static dolt, never doing anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True, but his intentions sided with the lightside. He warns you (as a DS) that the darkside leads to death in the end, or something like that, and he tries to stop you. Having thought over most of his actions, I think he was very lightside, despite what he tried to make you think. If he were truly neutral, he would be unjudging and let you make your own decisions, even to side with Bastila and join the Sith.

Revan= wizard Kreia = witch Exile = dorothy Mandalore=Tin man Hanharr = cowardly lion Disciple = scarecrow (if I only had a brain) T3 = Todo HK-47 = himself -
I've always held the belief (if you play LS) that Revan was a very LS Jedi before the Mandalorian wars. However, because of the corruption brought onto him by many things (the Mandalorian wars, the Star Forge, Malachor V, Kreia's teachings), he turned evil. That, and his lust for power drove him to try to conquer the Republic and eventually the True Sith empire. The idea that he fell to the darkside because he had too doesn't make sense. The darkside is not something you break open in case of war. <_< I think Revan wanted to destroy the power structure of the Republic and replace it with his own empire. In reality, though, that is still not saving the Republic, it is destroying it. Darth Sidious did the same thing. He didn't destroy any worlds, but he destroyed the Republic and replaced it with the Galactic Empire. Revan tried to do the same thing, but it was not saving the Republic, it was still destroying it.
-
Which is one reason (among others) why I think he was lightside, despite what he said. He sides with you as a LS and tries to kill you as a DS. A truly neutral person would have stood by and watched.

Play nice, children! (sorry) I voted KOTOR I as the better storyling. K2 had potential, but fell flat on its face and through the floor. K1 was just more appealing to me on many fronts. K2's was too dark, depressing, and confusing. I know, resurrecting an old thread, but I had to put my opinion in. :">

A classic line, definitively.

Oh, I understand now. For me, Kreia said it was Visas who I should leave behind. I kinda liked Visas better than handmaiden, though. She had a lot in common with the exile, and her character interested me more. Plus I thought she was better looking. What I didn't like was that she had the potential to be such an interesting character, but was given barely any history.
-
Actually, I think Jolee was very lightside. And he was very wise. Too bad he wasn't a council member. Just because he wasn't a member of the Jedi order doesn't mean he was neutral. Light/darkside is a description of your character. Kreia was more "Darth Sidious" evil than "Darth Malak" evil. A clever manipulator instead of a rampaging brute.
-
Actually, I got the big "name scene" with Brianna even when I allowed the "force sex" scene with Visas. I had really high influence with them both. You don't have to resist Visas to get that scene with Brianna. As for Mira, I desperately wanted to romance her but she called me old every single time. (force crushes the developers)
-
Well, I doubt you'll find many people who actually like Vrook. I hated the stodgy Jedi myself. But still, as a whole, I think the council you saw in K1 was wiser and less arrogant. But of course, K2 kills them off and leaves us with the bottom of the barrell.
-
Kriea didn't want them dead, but she couldn't let them strip the Exile of the Force, not after all her work. And she didn't simply "kill" them, she made them see death and the Force the way the Exile did on Malachor 5. They simply weren't able to make the choice the Exile did so the pain overwhelmed them. The Exile came close to the same death on Malachor, but was able to save themself by cutting themself from the Force. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Maybe, but it's kind of ambiguous. :"> Like about a hundred other things, K2 never really explained it. But yes, I can see your reasoning there. My point exactly. Even after all the exile had done (as a LS) the council still tried to cut him off from the force, mostly because they were afraid of him. I must say that the council in K1 was a heck of a lot wiser and a lot less arrogant than the one in K2. I didn't like the way K2 changed them into a band of bumbling idiots. Then again, perhaps the Jedi would have known the threat if Revan had told them instead of trying to kill/convert them.
-
I kinda agree with you there. While the council in K1 was a tad dull, the one in K2 was just plain retarded! I mean, the developers really dumbed them down in KOTOR II. Thank god the council wasn't that dumb in the movies. Still, ten years does seem like too long a time. However, it made sense that the Jedi were hiding. They had a new enemy of which they knew nothing, so the best thing to do would wait. What ticked me off was that they didn't even try to fight the Sith or find out more about them! Even in the end, when you confront all three as a ls exile, they still want to wait! Sheesh. <_< One thing I really loved was how as a LS exile the Jedi Masters you meet have a sypmathetic attitude toward you. Even Vrook says eventually that he may have misjudged you (that's as nice as he gets). In the end, however, when they all meat up, they're all like: "Yeah, you're a wound in the force. We gotta cut you off again. Oh, and you're still an exile." Complete betrayal. It actually made me happy when Kreia killed them. I think this all stems from the fact that the developers tried to make the Jedi less good and the Sith less evil. The basic lesson of K2 was that good or evil, your choices don't matter, because you'll accomplish the same thing. <_< Once again, just the opposite of K1. But yeah, the council was dumb. And back to Kreia, did you also notice that as a DS Kreia says that she didn't want to see the Jedi council killed, yet as a LS Kreia kills them herself. There's the old Kreia contradiction, again. And who were the schuttas who voted good?! (JK)
