  1. OK, I stick with barbarien/soul blade for my vampire ( all barbarien talents with "blood" and mind control from the cipher ) The ranger/rogue would be a different build.
  2. regarding carnage: For my blood countess build I want to make enemies bleed as much as possible ( and also drain, but thats another question). If my goal really is just bleeding and draining, mayabe I should go for barbarien/rogue (deep wounds and more full attacks) instead of barbarien/soul blade. Lets say I got a barbarien/rogue with blood frenzy, axe modal, a wounding weapon, deep wounds and a rogue full attack that causes a dot (sorry, name forgotten). - Do all of these dots stack? ( with each other and with themselves ) - Only blood frenzy is apllied to all carnage targets, all other effects apply only to the main target, right? It might be interesting to have a char that focusses on causing as many dots as possible and max attack speed over high weapon damage per hit. I think the dot damage ( except wounding ) does not depend on weapon damage but it has its own base damage and it is influenced by might. For more vampire stuff: Draining gives you 20% of weapon damage done as healing. It does not do extra damage and it does not heal from dots or lashes. Since we do not have weapons with wounding or draining in the beta, we know only the stuff from talents and how it was in PoE1.
  3. We already do have bears and other animals in the game. Would it be posible that we replace the shapeshift form we have now with a regular bear? The bear already has attack and walk animations. When it casts spells, it just stands there and glows. I cannot program the game, so I have no idea if its possible. Edit: In Baldurs Gate druids did transform into a regular animal.
  4. If you want to be good, paladin, 2h and tanky, I was thinking about a kind wayfarer/monk who fights with a quarterstaff. Kind wayfarer is the obvious choice if you want a classical good paladin. Game mechanics wise if you want a tank, use shieldbearer if you use a shield or goldpact knight otherwise. Quarterstaff would fit to a monk ( RP wise, in PoE no class is connected with a specific weapon, except monk+fist maybe), it has the +defense modal and if it is like PoE1, monks have abilities that makes them tougher if they have more wounds. A paladin/monk with a staff might not be the best tank or the best damage dealer, but it may be above average in both things. For the ultimate tank I would multi class a shieldbearer paladin with either unbroken fighter, wizard or priest of wael. Those casters have lots of self buffs. I have not played PotD, In PoE1 veteran was very easy except dragons and archmages maybe.
  5. My 2 cents: There is no ultimate definition of role playing game For me, RPGs have usually the following things: ( no specific order, not a complete list, there will be exceptions) - You have one or more characters in this game, usually they are humanoid. - There is a main story ( and maybe side stories) and you lead your char through this story. - Your character(s) get stronger during the game. - You have stats and equipment. - You talk to other chars and there is lots of text in general. - There are quests and you get rewards for doing them. - There is combat and success in combat depends on your stats, equipment and tactics. By my definition, "classical" RPGs like BG or PoE, JRPGS like Final Fantasy and "weird stuff" like undertale or south park are all Role playing games. And now comes the most importent thing: I do not care if a computer game is considered a role playing game according to the definition of you, me or anybody else. The most importent game for me is that I enjoy playing the game. Many games that I like have been called RPG by many other people, so it looks like I really like RPGs. But I like also many games that are definitely not an RPG and there are also tons of bad RPGs I would never play.
  6. We had already a thread like this, but I cannot find it at the moment. The result was a beckoner/wizard. Chanters can summon skelletons and other creatures. Necromant is usually a wizard subclass and wizards in PoE have several spells that would fit the necromant theme. There is necrotic lance, to take an obvious example, and at least one of the archmages was a lich.
  7. I am happy about this. In some sense WM1+2 were better than the base game, but putting a big big amount of content in the middle of the game gave you one problem: No matter what you do first, you are completely overleveled for the other thing (Act 3 or WM). OK, even before the expensions I reached max level when getting to act 3, but I have the feeling WM made thid issue worse. Getting stronger is an importent part in RPGs for me. All games became a bit more boring for me once I had max level and at that point I just wanted to finish them. I bought the complete edition of Fallout:NV, and I liked the expension. All 4 of them were really nice. A good story that keeps me entertained for some hours and an increased level cap are fine. The deadfire setting makes it much easier to add new areas. It felt strange in PoE1 that you had something to do in the main story, but you had all the time in the world to travel to a completely different part of the country and do something completely unrelated (WM1+2). A big expansion after the main story ( like ToB or MotB ) are also fine. PS: We need the following things: fishing mini game ( I play Okami at the moment ), fighting see monsters, Ydwin as full companion
  8. Now I am not so sure anymore if I want a kind wayfarer/beckoner or kind wayfarer/troubadour as army general. More summons is nice, but less HP and shorter duration. As troubadour having damage shield or healing twice as often is also nice. I guess I stay with beckoner and the fire lash chant. Summons stats increase with player level and duration with power level? As long as some summons survive until I can cast again, strengh in numbers and increased damage are nice. My main char was a kind wayfarer in PoE1, so this class is fixed. Does dual wielding with FoD heal my party members twice?
  9. I eat myself alive: https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/983407829477244928 Was this already posted? Thanks to the guy who found it for the other tread.
  10. Breaking News: Finally barbariens have found a way to trigger vengeful defeat at will: They eat themselves! Finally we have suicide bombers eaters in Eora
  11. In PoE1 you could deactivate gib in the menu. This means that enemies are not destroyed when defeted. At some point Boeroer said he did this when he used the chanter spell that lets corpses explode ( white worms, I guess ). I think the option to deactivate gib is in PoE2 too, but I am not 100% sure right now.
  12. In my first playthrough I want to be a kind wayfarer/beckoner and I want to use companions only. (no hirelings, no sidekicks) Aloth: single class wizard Eder: fighter/rogue Maia: ranger/rogue pallagina: all options seem nice. It depends on the high level paladin talents you can have. Serafen: barbarien (things would be different if the cipher was a soul blade. Takehu: single class druid (my main char is a chanter and high level druid spells would be nice) Xoti: single class priest I will not have sidekicks in my party, but anyway Fassina: OMG a conjurer, why should I play that Konstanten: chanter/barbarien Rekke: I am not sure Ydwin: cipher/rogue
  13. For once, I would like to know whats the difference between the different difficulty settings. In PoE1 the lower difficulties only changed the number and types of enemies, not their stats. Only PotD increased enemy stats and gave them more abilities, plus having much more enemies. Is it still the same?
  14. OK, you got a point. Being able to read is always a good idea.
  15. I agree. Enlightenment is not required for industrialisation. An oppressive dictatorship that considers progress as the absolute will of god and sticking to old traditions as heresy could be an interesting setting.
  16. Munacra Arret is a monocle. You can buy it when you join the dozens in PoE1. Edit: oops, JerekKruger was faster.
  17. @Rensom: Maybe "unarmed" is not considered a weapon and so devoted have 2 profiencies but only 1 weapon profiency. Anyway, I think you should not get unarmed profiency automatically and you have to select it.
  18. I agree that "unarmed" profiency should be selectable on character creation or level up, not automatically. Devoted get only one profiency and monks (or other classes who want to fight unarmed) have to select it when they want to fight unarmed. Except for devoted, nobody gets a penalty for using a weapon without profiency. You can miss some bonusses that work only for profient weapons, but thats part of how profiencies work now. Monastic training is junk at the moment. I suggest the inclusion of fist weapons, like Fallout or PST have it. I mean something like gloves or brass knuckles in a broader sense. PST even had a spell ( something like stone fist, I am not sure ) that increased unarmed damage for some time
  19. Here is my list of all classes. Its more about my personal preferences than their ingame power because I could not test all combinations. If you include all subclasses there are over 1000 possible combinations of classes. Until we know the high level abilities and we can test them in the game its hard to make a final judgement. - Barbarian: frenzy, speed buff on kill and some other things are good for every char. I think they are good for multi classing. They seem good for multi classing. Will heart of fury and other high level stufff be good enough to use them as single class? + berserker: The best subclass. For power gamers thats the only barbarien choice. Probably I will not play them because I dislike a confused main char. Multi classing them with paladin can remove the downside completely later in the game. + corpse eater: +1 rage cost is a big penalty and eating takes forever. Bad choice. + mage slayer: halved buff duration ( including frenzy ) and being unable to use potions and scrolls is bad. I did not use a mage slayer in BG2 and I will not use it in PoE2. - Chanter: Very useful support class, both single and multi class. + beckoner: More summons is great. Summons depend on character level, not power level so its best multi classed with another support class like paladin or priest to buff your army and other party members. great class. + skald: very good when multi classed with a melee class that can give lots of crits, like fighter. Offensive invocation have short casting time and can be very powerful. I like it. + trubadour: I would use this as single class. You can use your high level spells earlier. Use chants you want to re apply often, like the damage shield. - cipher: Useful spells and more weapon damage, I like it. + ascendent: Being able to cast some high level spells in a row is nice. Multiclass with a class that increases weapon damage to use more low to mid level spells. When single class, I think once you cast reaping knives on another damage dealer you are in permanent ascendent mode. + beguiler: Gaining focus when casting on enemies that can be sneak attacked sounds interesting. I think its useful for some niche builds but I will not use it. + soul blade: Spend your focus for extra raw damage. Great when multi classed with another melee class. - Druid: healing spells, damage spells, buffs and fighting like a beast? Why chose when you can have it all? Druids are great. I think I prefer the base class. + fury: I found the elemental form not very effective. You lose healing for more elemental penetration. I do not think I will play this. + lifegiver: Other players say their healing power is great. But I do not play on PotD so I guess the healing power of a normal druid should be enough. Not my first choice. + shifter: Good when multi classed with a melee class that lets you hit faster and harder. Your claws depend on character level, not power level. - Fighter: Great choice for multi classing thanks to constant recovery and disciplined strikes. Lets wait for the top talents to see if single class is usefull. + black jacket: I did not switch weapons a lot in PoE1 and losing recovery feels bad. Not my favourite choice. + devoted: Absolutely the best choice, especially in later playthroughs when you know what equipment you can find. + unbroken: If you want to be a tank, this looks like a good choice. Multi class to get more defensive stuff from the other class. - Monk: Hit fast and hard with your fists or with weapons. It looks like a good choice. I dislike that you have to take damage to use your powers, but there is a cure. + Helwalker: Do more damage and take more damage. Can be powerful when multi classed with another class that profits strongly from might, but this is not my playstyle. + Nalpazca: Generate wounds when stoned. Many players say its very powerful, but I do not like to take drugs all the time. + Shattered Pillar: Deal damage in order to deal even more damage. Thats a concept I like. This is my favourite monk class, even if Nalpazcas are more powerful. - Paladin: Very useful class, especially when multi classed with something else. Lets wait for the top talents to see how useful single class is. All subclasses feel useful depending on your playstyle. I guess bleak walker are the best (FoD more damage + affliction) - priest: They were masters of buffing in PoE1 and their spells are still powerful. I like that the different subclasses have different spells. I would multi class wael with a martial class, else go single class. - ranger: A pet, more acc and bonusses for ranged weapons. Pet power depends on character level, so single or multi classing is OK. + sharpshooter: more penetration and crits, nice. In an earlier version of the beta you could have both bonusses at once, not depending on the distance. I reported this as bug, not sure if it is fixed. + Ghost heart: I did not play this, so I do not know how powerful the pet is compared to a normal pet. + stalker: You have to stay close to your pet. I think I will not play this one. - rogue: Full attacks, invisibility and more damage? Count me in. Best multi classed I guess, because high level talents in PoE1 were not so great. usually I would prefer the base class. + assassin: More damage from stealth/invisibility but more fragile. I like to play this a multi class back row shooter/caster, but I am afraid to get in the middle of the action. + trickster: some mage spells but less sneak damage. I would prefer a combo of martial class + priest of wael or wizard. Trickster is not my prefered choice. + streetfighter: Some players say its very powerful, especially multi classed with barbarien. I dislike being flanked or on low health, so I will not play this. - Wizard: They were a very powerful caster in PoE1 and they are still very powerful. The base wizard is usually best. The subclasses lose 2 out of 5 spell shools which is really bad. I would only take a nature godlike evoker if I want a char who can do nothing but nuking and some self buffs. In general I like the class system of PoE2 including multi classing a lot.
  20. I have not played all of this, but those are the classes I want to play at some point: - general of my private army ( kind wayfarer/beckoner) I finished PoE with a kind wayfarer and I want to continue with him as my first char. Summoning an army of skelletons, healing them with FoD and buffing them with chants and auras sounds nice - the blood countess (barbarien/soul blade) The classical DnD vampire, though she does not turn to dust in the sunlight. Barbariens have so many abilities with "blood" in their name. Use all you got to make enemies bleed, drain their health and use your cipher powers to drain their strengh for yourself or to dominate them. Corpse eater would fit RP wise, but the increased rage cost is just bad. - The beast (berserker/shifter) Become a monster, enrage and tear everything apart with your claws. - assassin/wizard Start with powerful AoE spells from stealth or invisibility, then cast combusting wounds and dual wield blunderbuss. - Mad Max, the road warrior (devoted/sharpshooter) Dual wield blunderbuss and have your loyal dog ( well, its a wolf) with you - spam your powers (single class nature godlike shattered pillar) Bash everything with your fist, spam torments reach and interrupt everything by spamming rooting pain by the way. - missle monster ( single class nature godlike evoker ) Use some instant buffs, than open fire with tons of missles. I will play with a full party and not on PotD. Since I do not replay games that often, i doubt I will play all of them.
  21. I was asking myself the same question in DnD. I had a problem to determine what constitution means. I run marathons and sometimes even longer races, so I got tons of endurance. But I am rather thin and I cannot take much beating and I do not have good resistance to poison and such stuff. Do I have much er little constitution? NAME: Madscientist RACE: nerd (unique human subrace) CLASS: Wizard STATS: might: 12 constitution: 6, I assume running belongs to atletics skill dexterity: 8 perception: 18 intelligence: 20 resolve: 14 BACKGROUND: scientist ( bonus for mechanics, arcana, history and metaphysics, penalty for social skills ) DISPOSITIONS: Honest: 5 Passionate: 1 Rational: 4 Aggressive: 1 Stoic: 4 Benevolent: 3 Diplomatic: 1 Clever: 1 Cruel: 1 Deceptive: 0
  22. The upper image looks nice, but do we have any cloth for woman, like a dress? There must be female nobles in the game and I guess not all of them wear a plate armor. Perverted as I am, I really want to see a man in adress Imagine Conchita Wurst fencing with a rapier. I hope you got nightmares now
  23. - I finished Trails of Cold Steel 1+2 recently and the games are great. You should play the other Trails games too. But why do those japanese devs always think that its a good idea to fight tanks, gian robots and soldiers with automatic guns with swords? DonĀ“t try this at home. - Considering what type of game PoE2 is, Arcanum might be a better example for industrial revolution in a magic world. There are dwarfes and elves, we have a conflict between magic and technology and much open world exploration. There were several ways to finish the main quest, tons of side quests and lots of things to discover. People react on your gender, race, stats and skills. Playing an orc with low int was super funny, especially with the dumb dialogue. Ok, combat, leveling up and balancing were terrible, but I enjoyed the game a lot. Great setting, story and reactivity.
  24. Whem creating my vampire build I had the follwing question: Do we have noble cloth, like a dress or a suit? I do remember lots of cloth from different parts of the world, but I do not remember any noble cloth. No need for special properties, I just want the look. And I really want to know how a male wild orlan looks in a fancy dress. Googling for cats in a dress might give you some ideas.
  25. Thanks I want to play an assassin/wizard at some point. Dual wielding blunderbuss seems to be the best choice. Start with an empowered fireball from stealth, cast combusting wounds, use a full attack with your guns and see the enemy bleeding and burning.
