  1. At least Bethesda have plenty of money to throw at F3, if they throw enough at the dialogue and story they'll (hopefully) be halfway there.
  2. Discworld had a good story, but the puzzles were so bloody difficult and nonsensical that it spoiled the game. I'd say story, puzzles and setting are all equally important.
  3. Yup BG had the best level progression, levelling up was a HUGE deal especially since there were only 7 (iirc) levels in the game. I don't expect to see this in NWN2 since it would mean the game would have to be massive to get anywhere near the level cap but it would be nice. The Jefferson project was going to be along those lines before it was cancelled - huge pool of feats and skills, limited levels.
  4. Funnily, I don't ever recall seeing a toilet in NWN.
  5. Yeah Homeworld was a stunning game when I first played it, though it may have lost some of it's sheen over the years. Great story too. Ooooh! Play Mafia! It's a GTA type game with a gangster setting except it's a better FPS than GTA ever was. It was also a major inspiration for the upcoming Godfather game which gives me some amount of hope that it won't suck.
  6. Have you played Aliens vs Predator 2? It rocks.
  7. You need a girlfriend. So do I.
  8. I agree. This game was very underrated, in my opinion, better then both HL2 and Doom 3 which came out around the same time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Definitely, HL2 was more impressive but I flat out enjoyed Riddick more. Of course once you factor in Counter-Strike and mods and stuff HL2 wins but Riddick is still the dogs bollocks for the single player game.
  9. The NWN campaign was so boring and repetitive after two chapters I could hardly go on, the only thing that kept me going was levelling up my character. The only thing that was really good was the Charwood Village area. The two expansions were much better, especially HotU. Since you like FPSs, The Chronicles of Riddick game had a good story and great atmosphere, especially if you like the whole stuck-in-a-prison thing and you don't mind hard violence and naughty words.
  10. I like tiddlywinks. (Is this amount of sarcastic answers healthy?)
  11. Sewer for president!
  12. How are Obsidian supposed to do anything new with their product if they have to include every little thing out of a multitude of things that are 'essential' to the D&D experience? I've been playing in CRPG sewers since Eye of the Beholder, losing them isn't going to bother me too much.
  13. Nonsense! Jump in with both feet, what can possibly go wrong? Is she a witch?? Burn her!! (or lop her head off)
  14. Have they announced any new classes?
  15. It's also a tasty snack.
  16. Fun game indeed, apart from constantly getting the smackdown from those barbarians. The swine killed a crucial settler of mine one tile away from his building site.
  17. Even if we barely make it out of the ancient age it might be fun just to test it.
  18. Since there seems to be so many CIV players here we really need a proper Civ 4 (or CIV) thread. I was hoping we might be able to get some Obsidian games running, whether by doing the play-by-email thing or by normal internet, it'd be nice to culture bomb some of your towns sometime. As far as my civ experiences go I played the first and second when they came out but I only briefly dallied with the third which didn't seem much fun and quite teeth-gnashingly unfair against the AI. CIV, on the other hand, is just great so far. Religions are a cool addition along with great people and unit customisation but the whole game just seems to have been refined to a degree which allows for many different options for developing your civ that actually work. My hat goes off to Fireaxis for making a game so complex and yet intuitive and easy to get into. I'm still pretty much a n00b at this stage but I'm getting hopelessly addicted. I recommend reading Sulla's game walkthroughs if you're a beginner. They're insightful and quite funny in places. http://civ4info.com/Sullla/civ4.html So if you're up for a game of civ please post your time zone and Xfire name if you have one. Name - bigbottom Timezone - GMT
  19. Jeez, I often can't get into a game if it takes itself too seriously, especially if there's lots of good and evil going around. A Vampire game with no humour would be sheer hell for me.
  20. Was that an premonition of things to come for Origin?
  21. Great news Llyranor! But I thought he'd been sitting on the license for ages.
  22. What I wouldn't give for a straight up remake of Xcom. UFO:Apocalypse (or whatever it's called) looks pretty average and doesn't have the same funky style.
