IWD2 is a decent game, and the 3ed rules are a real improvement on the 2ed rules of IWD and make replaying it a lot more fun. You should be able to pick it up pretty cheap these days. But to answer your question, I don't know.
-
What game soundtracks do you have on your pc?
Jumjalum replied to roshan's topic in Computer and Console
IWD and Planescape: Torment, but I always feel like a geek when I listen to them regardless of musical merit. Edit - I admit I am actually a geek, just a closet one. I even made a proper cover for the IWD soundtrack, a pretty good one too. -
There's two of them, but they haven't been updated in years and they currently only play the second generation Sierra games. Basically I want to run Gabriel Knight and it isn't supported.
-
The Scumm games. I wish someone would make a ScummVM type project for the Sierra games (one that actually gets updated once a year).

Just cheat. Use Dalekeeper to give yourself temporary bonuses when you need them. Thats what I intend to do when I get to the forest maze, its impossible without wilderness lore.

If you're playing IWD2, 4 characters seems to be the way to go. With 6 you get a nice spread of classes but you don't get to see them at high levels. I'm considering restarting with 4 just so I can see my party get to that stage.

Yeah but why steal from a mob when you can kill it and then take its goodies.
-
Ehehe it turns out that all I had to do was talk to Shawford again, the mod cuts out the rest of the quest but you wouldn't be able to tell it by talking to Olaf.
-
Yeah true, it would be a balance nightmare. Even if it was limited to stealing from shops it wouldn't work, I guess they'll always be limited to opening the occasional lockbox and du3l w33lding.
-
Rogues would be a lot more interesting if you could actually steal things in WoW.
-
I'm yet to try (had a powercut yesterday) but I found it's got something to do with the mods I got from weimers site which make the fedex quests a bit easier. If talking to Olaf's dad doesn't solve things I may have to restart my game.

Creating your own entire party from scratch is probably my favourite thing about the IWD games, that and the tactical combat (better than BGs imo). I know you can create your own party in BG by playing multiplayer but it doesn't feel right.

I thought I'd load up a wee game of Icewind Dale II to while away the time until my main rig gets fixed but I've run into a couple of game buggering problems. 1) One of my tanks got hit by an energy drain by the ghost you encounter right at the beginning when you come off the ship, and the Targos healers don't have restoration as one of their services. Not even a full heal did the job, I think I should just kill him and then pay for his resurrection as he's not much use at the moment. Great I solved that myself (although I would like to know if there's an alternative), anyway onto number 2. 2) My first task for Shawford Crale at the palisade is to help some dwarf called Olaf repair the wall with some wood. He tells me to go and see a big fat guy called Lumbar and find out what the holdup is. When I ask Lumbar he tells me that everything with the lumber is fine now (even though I never mentioned lumber to him before) and gives me no dialogue that progresses things. Going back to the dwarf doesn't help as he just repeats his orders. I already fixed the crane before talking to either of them but I'm sure I did that last time I played and it didn't break the game. Are there any CLUA geniuses that know how to twiddle the right variables? I have Dalekeeper 2 installed if that helps.

I was joking. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, I see. Mumu.

They're all Pink Floyd album covers. I didn't think it would be too offensive to post but if it is then delete it by all means.

I'm leaning towards BG&E since I've heard it's great and quite short (my attention span is terrible so this is actually a plus point for me, I may actually finish it) but Anachronox seems to be held as a classic by lots of intelligent posters. Alternatively if you think I should make up my own mind feel free to tell me to **** off.

Do you have to pay Gamespot money to make a page like that?

Here's mine, my main PC is broken so I only have a few old games on this.

That's Krezack, not Karzak.

Natural Selection for Half-Life If you've never heard of NS, its a mod for Half-Life that's kind of an RTS where each player controls one of the units. The setting is a war between marines and aliens on board abandoned space stations and planets. If you play as the marines one person is the commander with a typical RTS top-down view of the map who tells all the marines where to go and what to build. The aliens are different in that they have no commander and can morph into different kinds of creatures, one of which can build structures. It's great fun although the HL engine is getting a little old these days, there's still some cool effects, the graphics and sound are very polished and the maps are mostly good to great. There are a few pieces of music that Jeremy Soule made for the mod that set the scene nicely. If you've never played NS before I recommend you start with the marines as they are easier to get to grips with although the aliens are considered more fun by those who are good at using them. http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/ for the 140 MB download

I was talking about the auto-shotgun, I thought that was the noob-cannon. I've heard it called that a few times, usually after a lucky streak of shottie death. The sniper rifle isn't for noobs and it's not a cannon.

I've been playing CS on and off for the past few years, I haven't touched it for a few months though, not since BF2 came out (and subsequently when my rig broke down). My highlights would have to be shooting a lot of people in one round and not dying, especially with the noob cannon. CS is great if you have a good server to play on, just like every decent shooter. Edit - I play on the PCZone server in the UK, the people there are fun to play with and there's a good mix of player skill so you can actually make the top end of the board with a little skill. Also, no sniper rifles are allowed - this may be a major factor, actually.

Have you guys heard of GemRB? I've just come across this project which could be the ultimate Infinity Engine mod. Essentially it's an open source engine like ScummVM for the IE games, and the potential is pretty great if it makes it into beta. The plan AFAIK is that you can apply any engine to any game, so you could be playing PST or BG with 3E rules. Everything will be highly customisable for modders like character animations and party creation screens. Check out the forums at Gibberlings Three if you're interested. http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showforum=91

You can download Wasteland at Underdogs as well, they have a host of old RPGs. Check the System Shock 2 link. Also Enemy Territory is an excellent team based FPS that plays like a tug of war with teams trying to achieve objectives while the other team stops them. It's only a couple of years old, so it's not as antiquated as most other free games..

Yep, it's the full monty. I think the movies are missing though unfortunately, although this doesn't affect the start of the game too badly since the intro movies aren't too great and most of the narrative is told through in-game radio messages and logs. I never quite finished SS2 so I haven't seen the end cinematic, anyone want to shed some light on the importance of the end movie? Of course, if you're really desperate, you can always try the electronic mule.
