There is no such thing as having it all in case of stronghold - you will always miss something, there will be merchants selling unique items, unobtainable by other means and if you miss chance of buying that item from the merchant at specific time you wont be able to get it anymore. Same with companions - there is practically no way thet you will be able to max levels of every single adventurer you have in your group (party + stronghold), especially that they can die and there are no xp for killing a mobs. And i will repeat what was said before - stronghold is non obligatory area, that you can totally skip and is rather added to fondle us with any upgrade of our fortress we make.
-
Yep - they will increase it. Sometimes adventurers staying in the stronghold can be send on a mission (eg. throw away beggar/drukard/mischief from your stronghold (strongholds will have random events)), or they can just help defend your stronghold in case of the raid on it (they can permanently die) and there may or may not be any other "uses" of adventurers. I think i heard some time ago that you can have up to 16 companions total - so 8 with soul (eg Hiravias) and 8 souless. Look for the vid from last PAX - some things were discussed there.

Volley and shock tactics
DarkWanderer replied to Verenti's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Even better - i heard that many of beta testers "developed" tactic based on multiple firearms and quickly switching them at the beginning of the combat and after they (firearms) were "used" they switched to melee/spells. -

Chanters chants
DarkWanderer posted a topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
How does phrases work (how much time)? I've watched videos from character creation and phrases didnt have any information about how long each of it works (base time - i assume its modified by INT) - i heard that phrases are overlapping so they obviously last longer than the time of chanting them, but do they last long enough that all of chants possible phrases will be stacked at once? What is the average duration of effect of one phrase - 2/5/10/20 sec? What is the max ammount of phrases stacked at once? -
Questions about gold
DarkWanderer replied to PBJam's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Correct me if im wrong, but i think that some monsters in specific areas (wilderness) ARE respawning (is some probably don't since it would be weird - like if you got a quest to extinquish all undeads in the cemetary and kill evil necromancer who was animating them - then after the quest is complete i expect the place to be undisturbed by monsters - unless the rats will start showing up and will start to spawn at that area). -

Best animal companion?
DarkWanderer replied to DruidX's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well i planned creating ranger as the last hero (or maybe before priest who will be very last) so by the time i'll create one, hopefully he will be fixed by patches/expansions Thane? xP But i agree it would be neat- 65 replies

Best animal companion?
DarkWanderer replied to DruidX's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That design decision was why I decided not to play a ranger. That sounded like a huge weakness and it seems like it is. They dropped this mechanic because it was terrible. They did? Any confirmation?- 65 replies

Best Druid Spiritshift?
DarkWanderer replied to DruidX's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well I dont really care that much, as im using the druid as the second wizard with the different collection of spells, but spiritshift should have similar effect to Tenser's Transformation with different bonuses for different shapes, but the ability should be sustained (work like paladins aura) OR spiritshift form could be customized and leveled as a regular character with its own perks to choose and such.- 27 replies

Yea i know - so just as i said - for now the only classes worth of putting heavy armor are warrior and paladin - warrior main role is being a tank so as much protection as possible and paladins greatest asset are auras which are after one cast constant till the rest of the battle. Chanter in the middle, and the rest are either "heavy" casters or dps which are better with light armor.
-
This game can be played with less than 6 characters so even if you have 6 and you wont use one of them you should be fine -> you can create wizard with light armor and dont use him if you dont need to ( stay far away from combat) at all or use him just as a magic projectile caster from wands/scepters/rods - which still would be better to do in light armor.
-
Well the restriction is that heavy armor prolongates your casting time, so its usually better to equip casters with the lightest clothing. I love heavy armors, but i love dealing massive dmg fast even more, so i think the only person im my party with h. armor will be tank (warrior probably, but paladin isn't bad option either) and the rest will stick with robes/light armors.

Darker nights
DarkWanderer replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well - PoE takes place on imaginary planet full of magic - so all things could be possible - green moonlight during day, purple sunlight during night and 3rd time of day unknown on Earth (Persona - Dark Hour xP). True - looks A LOT better now. I'm sure that it applies to all areas. After all they are all living under the same sky xP -
Kind of like "I have 3 swords with me - 2 on my back and 1 in my soul - and i need just one to kill you" xP Somethink similar was in some movie - can't remember what was it though xP But yea - "shield" should be taken symbolically in this case - i doubt that every single member of this order in game will be using shield, and i wouldnt also as i'm not a big fan of shields myself ;] You can always put a shield as your alternative weapon - so you will theoretically "bear" this shield on your back while you will fight with your weapon of choosing
-
Well - monks are OP (or at least were) xP They should actually make some "orders" for all classes ... For wizards - schools of magic (or somethink similar like Dragon Desciple, Wild Mage etc) - with different philosophy of magic. For barbarians - clans. For rogues - guilds. For rangers - tribe. For druids ... circle (?). Etc. There are a lot of names - federations, unions and so on. Each can propagate different philosophies of life, nature, magic, fighting, state of mind and so on.

Clever correlates mostly with perception? This makes it even more complicated. Can anyone else confirm this? I read that Lay on Hands is pretty bad so far, so taking the lower level ability instead of an aura doesn't seem very practical. Maybe I'll do it anyway though, a weak heal seems better than no heal.... but the aura would work better with high intelligence... ahh more dilemma. So now I'm stuck between a perceptive and intelligent Darcozzi Paladin, or a Standard Might/resolve Kind Wayfarer..... Why can't I just be good at everything by spamming stat rolls for hours like in BG?!? Well if you already know that you'll play several times in this game - maybe start by making class that is not such problematic to create. After one playthrough you should know the game well enough to figure out how you want to customize your future heroes Or - you can always start by making few test heroes - and quickly cheat to test out some attributes settings and talents -when you will familiarize yourself with the game mechanics and class - the process of creating your real HERO shouldn't be a problem xP
