I got my Gears of War copy today, and I'll give it a test drive tonight. If it manages to pull me away from NWN2, even if for only 10 hours, the game will be a smashing success.

10 hours of action gaming is not the same as 10 hours of RPG gaming. Action games have much less text, which means more fighting. Plus the combat tends to be much more difficult causing a need to reload; thus increasing the game length. Now, if it takes 10 hours including reloads, I'll be pissed.

Well, depending on how things turn out, there will be a plethora of NWN2 PW/multi-player games running.

Complaint thus far: Running the game in windowed mode kills my gameplay. Characters look like they're skipping, audio skips, dialogue sounds chopped. Doesn't seem to matter what I change my settings to. Conversely, if I crank my settings all up to max I can play in full screen with a solid 30fps and no hangs. Then, there is the 6-minute loading after I launch the game and it just sits there. Cool stuff thus far: Spell icons. Seeing character in different class clothing. Casting animations and AOE indicators.

Wow, only took me about 5 minutes the first time and my system is below the minimum requirements... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mine is above. It hates me, clearly. So I quit the game and reloaded it, to see if it would happen again. It seems to, and this one is taking longer... Meh - I'll just use these as beer breaks or something.

It took me 6 minutes and 37 seconds the second time I loaded the game up. Do I win some type of award?

Some people have mentioned that the first time they play the game, the copy protection does something goofy (and LONG) at a black screen for about a minute or so. Try waiting it out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I waited about 3 and a half minutes. The time it took me to microwave a Mama Celeste pizza, eat a handful of grapes, and open a Blue Moon. It left me hangin' dawg. It's actually still chillin on the black screen now, as I type this.

Wish I could discuss, but the game loads to a solid black screen and sits there. I can move the cursor, but the game never loads. C'est la vie.

No. The 360 controller is much better than the old Xbox controllers, or even the Xbox S controllers. The 360 gamepad is the best default console gamepad I've used to date. Great thing about the 360 gamepads is they use USB by default and work immediately when plugged into a PC (at least Windows PCs).
