I may have to lower my expectations again, and settle for coffe-fetcher. Feargie, watch out. I'm profficient in chai, soy lattes, and pure black Jamaican Blue Mountain roast.

I hope Obsidian never gets bought out. There was a rumor last year that Microsith was talking about buying out Bioware. EA bought out some of my favorite companies and then laid off most of the staff.

While I'm a fan of ATI, and advocate ATI products in general, it seemed people with NVidia cards had a better time with KOTOR on the PC. I think it was due to bad ATI drivers at the time. Hopefully those problems have been fixed.

Was the Xbox version a Christmas rush job?
EnderAndrew replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If it was rushed for Christmas I blame LucasArts for pulling the trigger when the original Feb release date could have been fine, and I blame the fans for screaming for an early release. I'd rather have a good release rather than an early release. Who releases games early in this industry? -
What faults from the Xbox version need to be
EnderAndrew replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'd love to see these bugs tracked down and fixed, but shouldn't this topic be in the Technical area, or the PC area so the developers can spot it? -
PC version more "polished"?
EnderAndrew replied to GhostofAnakin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well LucasArts have supported their games fairly well. I dig the fact that you can still download patches for ancient games of theirs. -
I've seen several developers come forward and speak out, saying that they don't "consolize" their programs. Morrowind got ported exactly to the XBox. It's just like it's PC counterpart, and that's a fairly complex game. I've never seen a tactical RPG on the PC, yet they are quite complex. EA Sport's titles made up over 20% of the console title market. How many 9 year olds play Madden 2005? I've never seen a single one. But the national Madden Bowl competition is filled with a bunch of 30 year olds. The fact remains that most PC releases can be played almost entirely with a mouse, while XBox controls for most game are far more complex than what I see on PC releases. If you don't have an XBox, and don't play XBox titles, I think you may mistaken a bit on what console titles are like. KOTOR was a built upon an engine originally designed for the PC. And then it was designed for the XBox, and surpassed the original PC title in it's story depth and role-playing. Yet everyone swears that people want to design simple, dumbed down games because they have to be marketed for consoles, and only kids play consoles. I have younger cousins, neices and newphews. They all play gameboy, while all of my adult friends own XBoxes and Playstation 2's. The XBox marketed and sold a Mech Combat game that required a $200 add-on, which was this mamoth set of controls that effectively acted as the ****pit of a Mech. Yep, aimed right at 9 year olds. I can't recall the last PC title I've seen marketed with near as complex of controls. I'm not anti-PC. I love my PC, and build a new one every year. I just don't understand how everyone is so judgemental of the XBox as being some kid's toy. The top selling console titles right now are Halo 2, Grand Theft Auto: SA, Metal Gear Solid 3, etc. Those games come with a M rating, and are marketed to adults.

I think you're confused here. Most PC games I've played in the last 5-10 years have gotten increasingly simpler, while console games have gotten increasingly more complex. Console games rated M have been selling far more copies than any games aimed at kids. The Nintendo Gamecube is the console aimed most at a younger audience, and it hardly sells at all. Kids don't pay $300 for a new console, and then spend $50 per game. The most recent stats I've seen on a console gamer pegs him/her at the average age of 27. I'm an avid PC gamer and all, but most PC games can be played almost completely with a mouse and the directional keys (or WASD). Most console games lately have more and more complex controls. Edit: I'm just curious. Do you have any idea how many buttons there are on an XBox, and how many button combos you can press?

Ghost Recon was a bit a stealth FPS game, with small unit tactics, and realism. I'm not super twitchy, and I enjoyed using my head in Ghost Recon.

By my math, there may be a small crew doing preproduction and tossing around ideas on their next project, but last I heard NWN2 was getting a large bunch of the KOTOR:2 crew, including MCA. My guess is that they'll hire again for their next project real soon if it's KOTOR:3, or if it's a new IP of their own, they'll wait to hire until they get a publisher lined up.

I have KOTOR:1 on the XBox. It never lagged. I also clean out my XBox every few months, and I've replaced the thermal compound on my XBox (this cheap, bubble-gum type crap) with Arctic Silver 5 and replaced the stock 80mm case fan with a Vantec Stealth.

yes :D dvd: need to plug in/connect 2 cables. need no drivers. g-card: needs 1-2(new cards use lots of power) and drivers. definetly hard work when compared to push the buttons of your cosole/tv. but hey, you ll learn something about hardware Oh, for the consoleros only: even in your console sleeps a crippled pc! (w00t) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It bother me how people are dismissive of people who play consoles. The work I've done to my XBox is by far more complex and difficult than any PC I've ever built. I own a PC and 6 different consoles. If there is a good game on PC, I play it. If there is a good game on a console, I play it. People who cut themselves off from good gaming experiences because of system bias are only hurting themselves.

A very bloated looking Cthulu was last seen leaving Obsidian's offices...

I think it's a fair question to ask if LA is so against modding, why they allow other games to be modded. I think it's a rumor that propogated. This is from my old Questions to the Devs thread. Why don't more games ship with mod/dev tools?

Halo 2 seems to be little more than an expansion pack. Same graphics, worse level design, same engine. It's just new maps, and poors ones at that. The combat has been tweaked, with dual wielding being a plus, and the other tweaks a big negative. Head shots are far too easy, and the pistol has been weakened signficantly, while the rocket launcher now looks on. Despite Halo 2 having the one of the worst endings in video game history, worse level design, and nothing really new on the table, every reviewer on the planet is giving Halo 2 a 9.8 or 9.9 Why is KoTOR:2 (a sequel in the same engine) being judged that much harsher? Halo 2 had more hype, a longer wait, and more promises. Many of the promised features were cut, the new XBox Live component features poor matching, etc. KoTOR:2 looks improved from KOTOR:1 in most categories. The engine isn't largely overhauled, but interface tweaks, a better art style, better characters, more dialogue, more feats, better implementation of skills, more villiants, tweaked minigames, etc. etc. etc. Other than the complaints in regards to KOTOR:2's ending (which I suspect I may like if the ESB comparisons hold up), most people say this is a better game than KOTOR, which swept 99% of the Game of the Year Awards last year. Why is everyone so down then? I'm truly confused here.

I don't care for FPS games, but I loved Half Life, and I plan on buying Half Life 2 as my next PC game. I may rent Star Wars Battlefield because it has been so well received. I think Republic Commando will be more up my alley. The last FPS game I enjoyed was Ghost Recon, actually.

My main gripe with TSL...
EnderAndrew replied to jaguars4ever's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sounds good. It has me at that much more excited to play the game. While I feel frustrated starting a new Final Fantasy game and I have to watch 30 minutes before I can play, overall I don't mind games with lengthy exposition. I rather enjoy them. I wonder how the 'tweeners will receive the game. -
Seriously, don't dog someone for introducing themselves. They were being polite. If someone acts like an idiot, or an ass, then flame them. But don't flame random people for no reason. It's uncouth. For what it's worth, welcome to the forums. I may suggest changing your avatar however, as I know at least two other people who use it here. Edit: But I do second the notion that you need to bring donuts, with raspberry filling.

Sadly, it is usually up to the publisher (not the developer) to determine when a developer can announce what they're working on. But I'm hoping for Pong 2, or Barbie Fashion Rancher. Cthulu: Dress-Up and Grue Tycoon also sound promising.

My main gripe with TSL...
EnderAndrew replied to jaguars4ever's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think KOTOR was one of the five best RPGs I've ever played. Maybe not even in the top 10, but it was one of the better games I played in 2003. -
There's an idea.

How long is the game? (no spoilers please)
EnderAndrew replied to GhostofAnakin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Just for reference, I had about 20 different games of KOTOR on my XBox saved. The average time for the final save was around 30 hours. These saves represent different players, and occassionally a second or third play-through of the game. There were a few saves in the 50 hour range, but I read everything and did every quest in 29 hours in KOTOR:1 I hope KOTOR:2 is a bit longer.
