Toyota and Honda are huge sellers in the USA. Toyota and Honda also make several lines of trucks and SUV's. As has been explained before, there are considerable differences living in a vast country which is more rural than urban which makes vehicles capable of ferrying more than four people at a time in wildly different weather extremes more of a necessity than a luxury.

And only people who really need them have them!
Ok, my country may be an extreme case of SUV and "sports" car use (I mean, the terms SUV and sports car alone already imply their uselessnes), but I think there's a global trend to buy these overly heavy, high air and/or roll resistance, dangerous to smaller vehicles, pedestrians and cyclers, type of cars. I have no idea what this has to do with the stock market (which here currently is wildly fluctuating - chance to make big money, or lose it all, if you're stupid enough), but it's always a fun theme to discuss
