While BG has the biggest nostalgia bonus (being the second game I've ever bought), Planescape: Torment was such a moving experience that I'd recommend that above all others. But if you cannot appreciate it for its deviation from standard fantasy and unique focus and text heaviness, then IWD would be my first recommendation. There's always something going on, it looks gorgeous, it sounds good (though the effects in PS: T are superior imo - clicking on a new spell was always awesome xD ) and the narration is great. I think I know it almost by heart IWD2 if it's somewhat believable villains and good tactics you're after. Or TOEE for the latter (with COE mod). BG2 if it's size that matters, and the beginning of Bioware's decline into consumerism above atmosphere or well told and developing stories (slay dragon after dragon, romances and strongholds). The rest isn't my cup of tea so I won't recommend it.

While I've read some negative comments about difficult collaboration in Unity as soon as multiple developers are involved, Obsidian certainly can judge this mcuh better from first-hand experience than some hearsay. Furthermore, as was noted in this thread, this is a comparatively low budget production (and man, am I glad about that!), so there won't be that huge a team involved in Eternity. Presumably The news about Linux is wonderful indeed! Another big PLUS that Obsidian has gathered with me, after the decision about DRM, and of course the decision to create the game at all, in this constellation of developers and with its focus on classic RPG experience.

So is mine... You're the one with the crates, aren't you? CS minor, literature major. But I wasn't during the time at BIS, must have been at school then (Junior Highschool I'd guess it would be in the US).

Not really old... but been on the BIS message board. Mostly as a lurker I guess, due to the effort it takes to write in Engish and especially so if one's quick to anger^^ I may have joined Missy's at some point, at least I do remember her. Don't remember much else from back then, just a few names and people. Ah, good to see some of the familiar faces nicknames here

[Merged] DRM Discussion Thread
samm replied to Arundor's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I would love for Obsidian to go the GOG way. Oldschool disk-keys or things like that are completely ok too. Other than that, DRM is always a punishment for the paying cutomer who has to deal with - malicious drivers or trojans (e.g. SecuROM, Starforce, ...) - limited activations, when switching components like processor or graphics card, or to a different PC, and see next point (e.g. Tages) - depending on the game's dev-studio/publisher to guarantee the continued existence of a server for always-online or online-to-start schemes (e.g. Blizzard, Steam, Origin, UBI-Launcher...) - removal of privacy sphere (e.g. Steam or Origin scanning the system) - there's more, but I don't want to waste time just to get upset about other forms of DRM The only people *not* bothered by DRM are people using cracked versions of games. Seeing that even chief-intrusive-DRM-guys at UBISOFT claim a 95% rate of piracy, this says all about the usefulness of DRM... not to mention the idiocy of assuming that a "sufficiently well made DRM" will make those alleged 95% actually *buy* the game, but that's off topic here. In short: Dear obsidian, please leave away the DRM! Your paying customers will be grateful. Your non-paying users will stay non-paying users, but you'll at least save your paying userbase a lot of nerves and gain kudos -
The way it left me thinking after almost each session of playing. I loved the lingering thoughts, the lasting taste of meaningfulness. I always had the idea that PS: T was less designed with the intent to "trigger emotions in our consumers" but rather with designing a genuinely interesting story, twisting fantasy convetions to the extreme and turning usual character relations around 180

 I don't believe it! There was NO profanity in it whatsoever - that's the whole joke. Sorry, but that was the dumbest bit of censorship on any moderator's part I've ever seen. And I come around on the net a lot. for your action. can't believe this *walks out of the board, shaking his head*

Install it again, over the old one, and uninstall it again could work.

Corrupting? Might want to check your harddrive, have you a tool that can read SMART values?

I'm looking forward to new technologies Id's engines are always good for interesting approaches to certain problems, even if not all of them are successful.

So they have some indivual traits now, names and such? I'm playing Overlord currently and it's a bit sad to always lose the cool minions. I had one with a slug on the head, one with a dwarven king's crown etc., and they just die Also, is it still only the browns who get visible equipent (except some basic armour visibility)?

Chick Corea Elektric Band. , but I just found out there's a singer sometimes. Heard more than one CD without one though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmjZToHAIhE. is from his akoustic band, great cover none the less, though it takes quite a while until it picks up speed and bass and stuff [edit]Man, I never get those "k"s right... And I like the CDs more than the live-stuff, more to the point I'm not a jazzer though

Power consumption of the 4770 is really low under load (except Furmark - I'm talking games here) for the power it packs. However in idle it's not good at all, which can be improved by drastically lowering RAM speed using some tools. Got one myself as an interim solution until DX 11 cards show up Currently the Alpenf

Didn't know Isis, but gave them a listen since I love Mogwai. Not bad I must say, even though I still prefer stuff like Earth when it comes to "slow metal". Got to listen some more methinks to get into them.

Probably not unmodded, the text is pretty flawed. I haven't got much time but I'll do that some day Thanks for pointing it out.

There's a distinct lack of "shadows" in that list
