What car would you like to have if you could pick anyone
samm replied to Nihilus5078's topic in Way Off-Topic
Yeah, a moon buggy would be cool. Especially if it comes with the means of going there and a little cottage and stuff. If you've got enough of the people on earth, just take a trip to the moon, drive around, and come back when you've had enough. But in black, obviously. -
Yes, they're fun at times Madrugada - The kids are on high street (youtube) I love that album (the deep end). They should be really big in pop business with those melodies (also see Hold On To You for what I mean).

ooops, wrong thread....

I was surprised to see someone who actually likes them Bauhaus - Kick in the eye

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elRctbs76GQSorry, it's what I hear in my head, when someone says 'harmonica'. Also, those Beatallica Titles are awesome. "everybody's got a ticket to ride except for me and my lightning"

then listen to Blood Stain Child, Sonic Syndicate, Scar Symmetry. they are all melodic death metal bands, but many of the melodies are electronics. Thanks for the hints! Anyway, I'll give them a closer listen! I listen to both (though I prefer Loreena McKennitt when going into the Enya-direction) - that makes me mid-twenty? Well, I am...

I think the Fuze could be counted as a 'mini'-player (though it's reasonably larger than an iPod shuffle or a Clip), but as long as you don't plug 300 Ohm headphones, you're fine. I think with the high impedance, the battery wouldn't last long, but don't see how it would affect sound quality - just the volume. Is there a mistake in my reasoning? [edit] On second thought - the volume is probably what you're getting at - if you have to use maximum volume of the player, and the player doesn't have a good amplifier, you'll get distortion.

Just to differentiate: 4WD doesn't mean SUV or anything. I life in a 4WD-dominated country (thanks to a lot of snow ) and despite the recent run on truck-like vehicles, there are still many Subaru Justy and the weaker versions of the Impreza around. 4WD but normal sized an acceptable use of fuel. I find the concept pretty cool and hope that one of the approaches will be a clear winner soon (like, finally, bluray vs. HDDVD has ended), so we'll see useful distributions of stations

Well, my answer won't make you happy I have a Sansa Fuze and I must say it's a top notch piece of hardware. The Good Things: Sound quality is very good. It plays all the music formats I want (flac, ogg and mp3). It was very affordable. Its storage of 8GB can easily be increased by adding an SD card. I like the looks and think it feels good. It runs very long without recharging (but I had a Discman before, so I'm not sure how it compares to other mp3 players). Downsides: Yes, it may be cheaply manufactured, but I keep it safe and so far, nothing bad happened: Neither card-slot nor usb cable-slot come with a means to close them so I'm responsible to keep it free from dust. There is no gapless playback, at least not with ogg-files, not sure about mp3 and flac. Weak bass must be manually compensated with the EQ*. Menu-handling is not too intuitive. Run time is long, but only as long as you have the screen on minimal illumination and fast standby. You can't create playlists except "favourites", but it can play from playlists created in Winamp, for example. You cannot navigate by filename (or I haven't found out how), only by tags, so keep your files correctly tagged. Unknown: I don't know how video-playback or textfiles are handled, because I don't use those features. There seem to be a lot of downsides, but that's only because I'm a critical person so I really wrote everything I noticed Most of them can be circumvented by a small effort. The only thing that bugs me personally is the lack of gapless playback. I would recommend this player to everyone with a budget that doesn't allow for something like a Cowon for its sound quality, battery life, format support and expandability. *: I'm using my small Sennheiser PX-200, which has a less dominant bass reproduction than my previous pair of PX-100. So maybe it's not Sansa's fault, but my being used to (overly) powerful basses.

What I like rocks , and if it has a male singer, his voice should be low pitched (Madrugada). Also, there should be a melody and preferrably distinctive bass. That's why I like many things gothic (from the post-punk roots onwards, Souther Death Cult, Bauhaus, Fields of the Nephilim, Faith and the Muse) including death rock. I'm picky with metal, some gothic (Tristania (Ashes)) and less clearly defined dark metal (Rotting Christ, Moonspell, Atrocity (Atlantis), Nefilim) really does it for me, melodic death metal (Dark Tranquillity) can be really great, as can progressive (Vanden Plas, Ayreon even with singers from the following description). Anything that sounds like castration is a no-go (a great deal of the male fronted Power Metal stuff, also some Progressive). Psychedelic stuff like later Beatles, up to progressive rock (Pink Floyd, Aphrodites Child), and where the genres merge it really gets as interesting for me as it can (-> Fields of the Nephilim - Sumerland (from the album) is an example). I love some electronics thrown in the mix in the case of rock and metal (ASP, Zeromancer, Samael) or trip hop (Portishead, Tricky, Massive Attack) and aaaargh sod it, this is going too long. I hate this forcing into a genre-idea. I just love "my" bands, and I'm sorry for not having mentioned Collide, The Eden House, Project Pitchfork, Nine Inch Nails, Lamb, Fischerspooner, Rubicon, Sentenced, Radiohead, Beck, David Bowie, Elbow, U2, Dead Can Dance, Faun, Gary Numan and other stuff that is among my favourites.

The Eden House - Freak Regarding metal, I'm looking forward to seeing Amon Amarth, Amorphis, Cynic, Deathstars, Epica, Equilibrium, Katatonia, Moonspell, Opeth, ... soon

Got bored and have no new games at the moment...

Gorgon, what are you talking about bucklers? They do not change the fact that BG2's animations are only one-sided. Could you tell us where that can be changed in Dalekeeper? Krezack: That would be unfortunate -
Indeed you are with your sentence Your statement is invalid on at least two levels: 1. Assumptions about the effectiveness of 'running themselves' before 'releasing the colony into maturity' are certainly not a main factor, this is viewing the colonial power through rose shades, an idea based on the old strategy of legitimisation that the occupants bring political and cultural improvements to the occupied. I'd say, with what little background knowledge I have gathered in the past few weeks of studying, releasing colonies is generally a process of liberation for political, monetary and military reasons (they do not generate money for free but need constant suppression, political attention, propaganda etc., and the benefits of prestige and the idea of having to possess as much 'ground' as possible, because 'ground' is the most valuable property, have worn off). 2. The postcolonial period is not concluded, unless you count neo-colonialism as its end. So what you say, even if it were true that this assumption was made etc., would definitely not be the crime in this period.

And that's definitely not the only quirk in that list Sentenced - Excuse me while I kill myself

I don't care if they laugh as soon as something funny happens, I'd even understand if they laugh in reconition of something that was already in the Evil Dead series (the car), but it was like 'oh, a fly, hahaha', 'oh, a bank manager, hahaha', 'oh, the man is wearing a hat, hahaha'.

Haha, you humble me I mean, if I were Walsh, or slug, or Archie (where the hell is he anyway? pulled a Xard?) this would be my sig. But you still are a lot ahead of me in many respects, believe me.

Yes, but that is not an obstacle in such cases, as I once pointed out and got moderated for it What I can say is that my gf is totally fine with it.

Went to see Drag Me To Hell in the night venue, thereafter to a party (fittingly called "soul massacre" ) where I hoped to meet a nice neighbour lady, but she had already left apparently by the time I arrived. Despite not being dressed (up) as good as it gets for the occasion - I didn't think I'd go anywhere but the cinema at first - got some smiles and long looks by some ladies, but that was as far as it went. Definitely need to train my Shryke-ness for such occasions , because this is not where it stopped for some guy who had a woman lick his boots and, well. Family friendliness makes me shut up here. Gotta cook some dinner before sun rises.

Drag Me To Hell. Despite some constantly chuckling idiots in the cinema, I liked the movie. There was not much suspense, but shock moments from the get-go. The end was predictable, but so drawn out it made me chew fingernails. Also, it clearly had some budget behind it, but totally is a B-movie, lots of clich

U2 - Dancing Barefoot (Patti Smith cover) I don't like fade-out endings Decent song otherwise

Totally depends on the mainboard In all of mine (which never were ASUS, but ECS, Abit and MSI), they should preferably be placed like in D_N's picture. And the colour-coding varies as well: Once some boards, different colours mean "RAM slot 1, RAM slot 2" (i.e., put sticks into slots with different colour), and on other boards they differentiate the channels (i.e., put sticks into slots with same colour). There should be a standard, but there isn't

I think Zelda's fabulous (then again, I'm a Zelda fan and even really liked Windwaker). Okami is very good imo, but hampered a bit by the imprecise control and the need of fighting a lot (I'd like to run around without being disturbed by monsters...). I also like Red Steel and Dragon Blade, while they may not be "good games", they drag me in thanks to the Wiimote control. I've yet to play Dragon Quest: Swords. There's a lot of classics to get via download (Donkey Kong Country! Secret of Mana!), even from systems like NeoGeo and turbografx. And I play Cube games on it, but iirc you already got a Gamecube, don't you? Oh, and there's Puzzle Quest. But that's on every console and on PC as well

Bhabha for hybridity, lest someone fail their googlin'. Shame be on Wals. Shame's all mine What interests me about it currently is not the products of integration (example that is in more advanced phase than those you mentioned, maybe except Indians in GB: Italians in Switzerland, which has no "colonial element" per se, just like your example of turkish people in Germany), but rather how much of the colonial mindset of European/western superiority is still left in peoples' heads, how many ideas of "well, in the end we brought them democracy", the idea of a mystical orient, pervasive mis-representations that still today influence politics etc.

I cannot imagine why that could be, both parts of it. Otoh, to each his own.
