  1. I second that....... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thirded.
  2. As was said before, what you're using as an example is an example of poor AI, not the turn-based system itself.
  3. Then again, potential developers know it's going to be a pretty much guaranteed seller. I'm not sure if developers get paid more if the game sells better, or if they get a fixed sum up front regardless of how well the game sells. If it's the former, then even with Lucasarts' "pushy" style, I'm sure a lot of developers would take on the project if it would get their company both revenue and notice. I think of it this way: Lucasarts is like working for a big company. Sure they are demanding and sometimes unrealistic with their schedules, but they pay you a six figure salary (just an example, no Obs developers correcting me on this figure). On the other hand, you can work for a less demanding "boss" like, say, McDonalds and make $7.50 an hour with no stress or headaches. I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to take the stress and headaches with a big salary over a carefree $15 grand per year.
  4. I'll go with what this guy (gal) said. Until I see Obsidian or Lucasarts actually make the announcement, I'm not going to get excited. There's been tonnes of rumors floating around that proved inaccurate, so I'm adopting a wait-and-see approach.
  5. MY EYES! TEHY BURN!
  6. Jags, you know I adore you like a long lost puppy dog, but that was bad.
  7. Admit it. You bought RE4 because of that dude on the cover's tight pants.
  8. Just because people tihnk the engine is good doesn't mean they want it used again. You're drawing too many conlcusions. It's not implied that Good is the same as Good enough. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What he said. I was satisfied with the graphics, and I personally didn't have any slowdowns or performance issues thus I gave it a "good & good" vote. Sure the graphics could be better, but if that were the case I would have given it an awesome vote.
  9. 42 hours the first time through. About 28 to 30 the subsequent play throughs.
  10. I'll just add that I agree with Azarkon's post.
  11. That's blasphemy! Sorry about the molar thing.
  12. Volo, what did your parents let you play when you were growing up? I want to make sure I avoid letting my kids play that stuff. :D
  13. I think I'm the only one on this site that hated the Episode III game. But the fact that NumbersMan and Nur agree on something tells me perhaps I'm in the right this time. :D
  14. It's a toss up. On one hand, I wasn't a big fan of the prequels. However, they "fleshed out" the Star Wars saga and the story of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader so in that sense they were good. On the other hand, I thought the KOTOR series was a bit more enjoyable.
  15. The thing I hated most about the Ep. III game was the camera angle and how you were stuck with the same angle, unable to change it. Often times you'd be getting shot at and couldn't adjust the angle of the camera to see who is shooting at you until you were practically right beside them.
  16. That's a whole rant in and of itself. I can't begin to explain how annoyed I am with parents who either do a terrible job, or just outright avoid raising their kids, then immediately lay the blame on some other media, such as games, movies, or whatnot, when their kid does something wrong.
  17. Depends on the game. If it's a Star Wars game (or anything based off of "PG-13 or lower" material), then no. But if it's a dark game, something like Fallout, or even Vampire, then there should be a lot more things you can do.
  18. Weird. I could have sworn I met those criteria and still didn't get the dialogue option. *shrugs*
  19. Ruin her career? Star Wars is her entire career. Without it, she'd just have been the daughter of some former famous people.
  20. Same, although I have recently gotten into the Jedi Academy/Outcast games.
  21. You just proved my point to that other guy. The fact is you rate KOTOR II IN COMPARISON to what you expect from a game, just like you rate JE IN COMPARISON to what you expect to see in a game.
  22. But that's what you don't seem to get. It's "quality" is always in comparison to something similar. Take the game Pong for instance. In comparison to the quality now, is it a great game? No, of course not. But at the time, when it was the standard for games, it was considered a lot of fun. Try and come up with why certain games are fun for you. I doubt you can go through the process without atleast relating the positives to some other game or games that you played that didn't quite match up.
  23. Yes and no. What defines "greatness" is a comparison to something. Why are some women "beautiful"? Because they possess physical attributes that are "better" than other women. Why is Barry Bonds a great baseball player? Because he can hit more homeruns than the other players.
  24. I dunno. Of the current gaming companies, I'd say Bioware and Obsidian are responsible for my favorite games (yes, Obsidian only has one to their credit). But I suppose it's subjective, however IMO, Bioware DOES create great games. Atleast in comparison to what else is on the market in that genre.
  25. I see. My mistake.
