  1. They have already stated that there will be no "revelation." Then again, I would take that with a grain of salt. Anything that the devs say about "revelations" half a year from release should not be fully believed.
  2. That I can't argue with. Or they may simply not think you were superior. However, it is hard to stomach the ones that DO know you as Revan. I think that can be simply explained by the word "stupid." Does he know at that point that you are a Jedi? Perhaps he thought that if Nord wasn't caught unawares and with backup he would do a better job. From the impression I got, shields were a new thing. Take the first merchant you see, he made it seem like shields were barely invented, telling you what it is, how it functions, etc. If this was true, I doubt that shields existed that could protect entire battleships. In some respects, I guess you are right. However, since this is 4000 years before Episode IV, I doubt they had the technology. In addition, there are some aspects of the Star Forge that the Death Star did not have. Perhaps he assumed that Bandon could finish the job. And besides, those planets proved valuable to the Sith. I doubt he wanted to blow up Manaan and the supply of kolto anytime soon. That I can't argue with. What's even worse is that none of those idiots knew what Revan looked like. Malak is a likely choice, especially since the two are childhood friends. Why not, he helped you find all the star maps. And he is another trained Jedi. Sure he's dumb, but he's got other qualities. Can't argue with that. Perhaps there's a technical issue that technology had an easier time picking something up coming out of hyperspace. Kinda makes sense too, it would probably be easier to catch a slowing car than a speeding one. And I doubt Revan's ship sucks, it's infamous throughout the galaxy as one of the fastest ever. Can't argue with that.
  3. This has been asked before with a dev response. And the response simply is, it is not an Obsidian artist and a Lucasarts one. So therefore, they would not know who he is. I doubt they would bother to check. However I wouldn't be surprised to see him continuing with new Masked/Atris art in the future.
  4. The PC is given a history. Namely, you are one of Revan's soldiers during the Mandalorien Wars. You have been exiled or something for an unknown or yet to be revealed reason. You wind up waking up on Peragus mining facility without knowing why. This is where the game begins.
  5. Yeah, in cases like this, it feels kind of ridicilous. They often explain it away by "We serve Malak", but I ask you since when have Sith been known for being foolishly loyal when clearly out-numbered and out-powered? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, since most of the Sith have shown themselves to be quite stupid throughout the game, I would say the Sith have been known to be foolishly loyal even given bad situations Or they're excuse is that they're stupid.
  6. Ever since they released that wallpaper, it has been on the desktop. I never changed it since. And I likely won't in the near future. UNLESS of course they offered more wallpapers of Atris None the less, I do not recall the name being revealed. However, it is an artist from within Lucasarts. I don't recall of the artist was part of the marketing division or...?
  7. Light, or Dark. There is no grey. I suppose that since Force users are divided primarily between two varieties, namely light and dark, you won't have much of a choice. You as a player may be given a wide variety of possible choices you can make, including neutral ones, but eventually we will come to that point in the game where a side must be taken. Take Oderon for example, you have all three choices as a player. However, the ultiimate decisoin is, will you join the Light or embrace the Dark? It's difficult to have a proper ending when you character doesn't believe in anything except in believing in nothing.
  8. I am hyped about this game and especially learning of all the improvements being made. The character is behind the mask for a reason, he want's to hide something. Or maybe it's because he's fashionable, I don't know. I don't suppose it'll hurt if they divulged SOME info on him, quite similar in style to that of Sion or Mira. They didn't reveal much about the characters' past or motivations, but it was a good snippet.
  9. I found it hilarious that the Sith that DID in fact recognize you as Revan were just as stupid as the everyday grunts. In case they weren't aware, there have been stories spreading about Revan's power dwarfing other force-wielders, even Malak. To think they had the audacity and stupidity to attack me and TWO other Jedi required a suspension of disbelief.
  10. I thought some of the KotOR attack animations were somewhat cheesy. They got repetitive after a while and some were bland from the very beginning. For example, some of the single lightsaber animations were quite un-exciting. I also despised the default wielding position of the double bladed. It looked so lame holding it like a long pole or pike. I wanted to hold it in a manner similar to Maul. Some animations I would REALLY love to see are Malak's one-handed style and Revan's scorpion style. I wanted to use Malak's style so bad, as it was screaming "cool" as you battered him with a bunch of boring swings.
  11. I disagree. Sure double bladed held less crystals, but essentially each crystal in a staff will fuction twice, since it is a two handed weapon. With the crystals you save, you can give them to other party members so that the overally party is a lot more balanced. In addition, the standard lightsabers had less overall damage, with the only thing going for them being that of the critical range. Double bladed however always has high average damage and need not rely on "chance" attacks.
  12. Personally, that would do nothing but confuse the player. I think the player knows and expects what answer his character would make. Mixiing it up would only delay the flow of the game and confuse the player.
  13. I remember back in the golden days of PC gaming companies offered these large, in depth manuels full of every single detail you want to imagine about the game. I remember those days a the "story" section was like a novella. Yes, a much better manuel please. Neverwinter's manuel was good, although I think it could sitll improve a lot on that.
  14. I joined earlier as well, I simply didn't post much. And why must the join date be so important? Back to the topic on hand--personally I think the art work is great. And I agree that it need not follow Luca's vision EXACTLY, but I guess that's a good thing, given Episode I and II. The new artwork has a grittier, more stylish feel. Check out that wallpaper and Sion's design. That's some pretty good stuff.
  15. Yeah, that's what I meant of course. I do not believe the theory of having them as rivals for the title has been mentioned before. If this should prove true, it would definitely add a lot more flare in the relationships between the Sith Lords.
  16. It is nearly guaranteed this masked guy is not Sion. However, he has yet to be revealed as a separate character. Though even if he was, that doesn't mean they aren't the same entitiy. However, the possibility of them being the same is immensely small and unlikely. If you look at what is noticible of the hidden facial features of the masked Sith (on the main KotOR2 site), you will see that he seems to have a scarred face of some variety. This doesn't mean he is Sion. Judging by the wallpaper, it seems that the rest of his body is in decent condition, or at least his arm. I am assuming that the reason the masked Sith is hiding his face is because of a type of facial disfigurement. It may even be possible that Sion and this masked Sith are rivals for the title of undisputed Dark Lord after the fall of Malak. Assuming that the masked Sith has a facial problem, they both have disfigurements, with Sion choosing to accept his appearance and with the masked Sith hiding it. Perhaps this could be a possible issue between the two characters vying for power, if they are at all. Then again, this Atris and the masked Sith may not even by real characters at all. The possibility exists that they are simply "cool" renditions of the idea Jedi and Sith used for marketing purposes. Those two look interesting and I dearly hope I am wrong on this part.
  17. I think that you will indeed be able to "join" the Sith much earlier than the first game. One of the key features the second game enjoys is the fact that your party members will follow you on whatever path you take. Or at least most of them. This is implied by the recent trailer. If it was late in the game much like the first one, then this highly touted feature would be highly useless.
  18. Do you know when the release date is? Officially it was February 2005 and now it seems that the recent trend is "Winter 2004". When is the actual release date? You guys aren't rushing the game to be released in the holidays are you? The last batch of KotOR2 info was released I think a few weeks ago, mostly regarding Darth Sion. When is the next batch of info gonna be arriving? I am dying for more info on the NPCs that join your party.
  19. Your point has some merit, although I highly doubt this is the case. However, I find it interesting that in every shot we ever see of Kreia she seems so secretive and the hood just gives an aura of mystery about her. I doubt in any way that Bastila is related, but you're point is interesting.
  20. If there are Selkath, I sure as heck that they are nothing more than a minor cameo appearance. If not, I better be given the chance to slay them with a Jedi-based party.
  21. Will you guys give players the option to choose the pose thier characters would default to when wielding melee weapons? I don't know about you, but when I played KotOR I thought the pose for holding the doulbe-bladed lightsabers were rather lame. I loved the Darth Maul/Jedi Academy style wielding style, with the staff in front of your character. Simple, effective, intimidating, menacing, cool. So yeah, can you guys give us multiple poses to choose from for different styles, such as single-saber and duel wield and of course lightstaff?
  22. I think those were excellent suggestions. However, I am most concerned with depth. I remember in KotOR the romances were like a one dialog burst and then it is never mentioned ever again. Bastila gets captured or Carth only admits his interest near the end of the game. They were certainly lacking in depth and I would like to see the romances affect dialogue and gameplay more. Certainly the romance must affect the ending of the game, unlike KotOR.
  23. As far as I know, the engine will not support such a massive amount of models on teh screen. If you are thinking massive armies a la Troy or Lord of the Rings, I do not believe that such a task is possible. Besides, how would something like that fit into the storyline?
  24. My biggest disappointment is that the game length is not being significantly increased. One thing I can definitely say about KotOR is that it was so good I never wanted it to end. In addition, since KotOR II is just reusing the engine, I expected a much larger amount of content and gameplay improvements. The news that the game will be about the same length is extremely disappointing. As for the graphics, I expected a jump in quality. Judging from what I have seen of the gameplay footage, I was once again slightly disappointed. As far as I can tell, the game doesn't look any better if at all. Perhaps one of my biggest gripes is in the attack animations. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but is it true that the new animations are only played if you use a combat feat? Does that mean that normal attack animations are going to be exactly the same? In addition, it was said that your skill with a feat will change along with your animation. Doesn't that mean that you are still relegated to staring at the same animation over and over again, even if it is supposedly a "stronger" version? At least give us a variety of animations for each level of a combat feat! As for as music goes, I'm not sure what to think. I'm slightly worried as this next composer is not very distinguished and ultimately we will not know how the score will turn out until it is permanently integrated. However, what we do know of the story as been very solid. I love all the characters that have been shown to us so far, all except for Atton Rand. If this guy is gonna be another Carth... well, his annoying whining got to me. The return of HK-47 and T3 are nice, but I don't care very much for T3, if at all. Still, having a story that references back to the original is a big plus, as a huge amount of sequels don't even acknowledge the existence of the original. So far, it seems to bring additional depth to the original game as well, which is definitely a plus.
  25. To be frank, I really was not impressed by the footage that has been released at all. The footage looks pretty sloppy to be honest. I was most looking forward to the new attack animations, but was severely disappointed to find a repeat of the old animations, which grew tiring quickly. Hopefully this is just a relatively early build. When will a proper trailer be released?
