  1. I believe that the transit feature was to be the equivalent of a "rest" function in a D&D game. But the amount of med packs and force healing you can use made it slightly pointless.
  2. Actually, double bladed lightsabers should have the function to disable one end. Both blades are powered by one single crystal. But the only person with the final say is Lucas himself, or the people entrusted to decide what and who are considered cannon in Star Wars. Supposedly, most of the Star Wars games are considered official canon, part of a much larger story. In Jedi Academy, your double bladed lightsaber COULD in fact retract to a single blade. And since Lucasarts approved, that means that all double bladeds can do it.
  3. Well Atris is holding on to some sort of second place position. And as far as Atris goes, I think that the white haired female Jedi is still Atris. However, the white hooded Jedi in that early screenshot isnt. Perhaps it's just an early test on new hood designs? Then again, we see that same girl again later in the trailer, except she's in brown in the trailer. I think they are one and the same. Lots of T3 lovers out there. Can't wait for more info to come, especially on particular characters.
  4. The similarities cannot be merely coincidence can it? Interesting that the guy that looks like Bruce Lee also fights with two lightsabers, dark side at that and demonstrating Force Rage (I think). Looks like lots of screaming going around. Or is this a Obsidian joke at Bioware in reference to Jade Empire? A poke at Furious Ming perhaps?
  5. Masked Sith is always a good option. He is so mysterious, no one knows who he is. Or any KotOR2 character for that matter. But that doesn't take away his "mysterious coolness"
  6. It is almost guaranteed, assuming The Sith Lords does well, that KotOR3 is in the roadmap. And it isn't quite such a bad chance of happening at all. Companies these days are already starting to develop launch titles for the next series of consoles due to arrive next year. If Lucasarts continues their development trend, then I wouldn't be surprised if a next-gen KotOR3 will go in development two months before The Sith Lords hits stores. As for the Bioware "hand-me-downs", I really don't mind at all. Obsidian and Bioware are almost the same company, historically and definitely presently. Though I have never finished a Black Isle game (Baldur's Gate II is just slightly too difficult for me), I get the impression that Obsidian is going to perfect what Bioware started. And if their past achievements are compared, I am confident that they will take the franchises they are currently assigned above and beyond will Bioware did.
  7. Evil cults and ancient heritages of dark side power in an underground society. I like it. It seems that the first game had a lot of history behind Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma. I wonder if KotOR2 will follow up on these characters. However, I feel Obsidian is trying to create their own story. Nonetheless a viable theory.
  8. Actually, that poll is somewhat inaccurate as I tend to think story and characters are in the same category. You can't have a good story without solid characters and etc. But of course, it's the mystery of finding out who those people on the wallpaper are that's gonna draw me in
  9. On a minor note, more companies have recently been doing more "collector's editions" or "DVD editions" of their games, especially for the major releases. Hopefully this will get the same treatment. Although I refuse to pay more, as I want my full attention on the game only.
  10. Jennifer Hale also did Major Parker in Ground Control I think. I'm not sure, but I can SWEAR it's her voice. What I'm most curious about however is: Are we getting the same voice actors for returning characters? I doubt that the original voice actors would sign on again if all they got was a ten line cameo appearance. Especially one as large as Jennifer Hale.
  11. Yes of course. It must be "grand evil" on a large scale involving politics and power. But it would be great if there was an Easter Egg to rack up dark side points by stealing candy from a baby. Namely a baby named "Bioware."
  12. Perhaps with the success of the first KotOR there may be a collector's edition. Howver, they have already said the game will feature "unlockable" options for future play after you beat it.
  13. The most sinister thing the first game allowed us to do was to kill our party members. Killing Mission and Zaalbar was really the epitome of your evil deeds, whereas everything else reminded me of your typical bully. You were never given the option to usurp power or anything dramatic. And since you had nothing more than your party, nothing grand was possible. You were never given some grand "take over the galaxy plans". It would be great if as a Sith you are given the option of formulating multiple game long plans to achieve your ends. The multiple plans will help replay value. As well as short sub-plot schemes that leave a mark on the game in a long term dynamic manner.
  14. It was extremely difficult to play darkside in the original as the dark side were the deeds of schoolyard bullies. If the dark side is as devius and sinister as the devs said it would be, then it would a far more viable approach. However I shall stick by my policy of light side first. I guess I'm more prone to the "good" endings first before the "bad" one.
  15. I seriously hope that you guys don't take this impression of Atton being gay seriously. There is no way that Lucasarts would allow a fully gay character to be in the game. For a friendly dev joke in reference to Carth, this topic has been rather popular. Well, it ain't gonna happen so I wouldn't worry about it. As for the first NPC, it's confirmed that you will get access to T3.
  16. Dantooine. I would love to revisit that place and see what Malak did in person.
  17. Unfortunately I have never played those games. I would like to however. It seems like those games are discontinued and I can no longer purchase them anywhere.
  18. Romances are a way to deepen character interactions between the PC and the romantic interest NPC. If it has a good impact on the plot and has strong depth, then it can potentially add much to the game. And in an RPG, story and characters can never be too fleshed out. Except for Carth of course. The option of romance should be given to the player. However if they player chooses not to, they need not engage in it. For the anti-romancers claiming that it takes away resources better used for the plot, the romance can deepen the characters and help the player establish a better relationship with the pair or perhaps even pairs. Nontheless if the romance is well written then it is a high quality aspect of the side-plot of the game anti-romancers need not take interest in. I would love to see Atris as a romantic option for my male NPC As for a female character, that depends entirely on Atton Rand's character.
  19. Personally, I think that you as the player should choose between the options given to you. That is the heart of an RPG, and especially KotOR2. If you feel that "insta-gib" is not fun, you need not make such a powerful option. For Sith fans however, this should be a possibility as well if killing everything in sight is fun for them as a character choice.
  20. Well, his physical appearance is a part of his character. Look at Malak, his skin appears perfectly fine, albeit with Sith tattoos tacked on, but it's fine naturally as far as I can see. As for that jaw, I doubt that the dark side made it fall off. That aspect of his character was up to the player's imagination. Bandon is a good example. This guy is dark side for sure, but he doesn't look remotely grotesque. It's so cliched to have "evil" characters appear ugly, it would be great to have a "pretty" character act evil. Heck, it would definitely add more value to the evil choices the character makes. It would demonstrate the innate evil the character is capable of. Like Obsidian said, they wanted the dark side to be more devious and scheming this time around instead of Bioware's schoolyard bully. Doing so would be a great approach. This would be especially good for female characters. Perhaps you can have the hair turn white, or you may make the character more pale, but I wouldn't do anything as to change eye color or decomposing skin. Look for example at a drow female (for the lack of a better example), that would be a good start. Edit: Provided additional opinion and suggestions.
  21. True, but that's a late game exception, not the rule. Then again, you can place the HofG crystal into the double bladed and put your two most powerful crystals in, which may even exceed the double unique lightsabers in overall damage.
  22. To be honest, I think the physical mutations of the dark side went a little too far. I think there should be some minor physical changes, but grey skin and yellow eyes with bulging veins is just WAY overdone.
  23. Have any of you guys ever seen the Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm manuels? Those manuels are absolutely the best manuels ever made in my opinion.
  24. Approximately how many lightsaber stances are there? What effect do they have in combat? Will they have different animations and damage/defense values, or do they serve a deeper purpose in combat? Will Malak's one-handed style be usable? What about Revan's scorpion style? I felt really cheap fighting Malak--even though I was beating him, he had substantially cooler fighting animations going. And Revan's style looks devastating. In addition, will there be different default "poses" we can select? I personally wanted to wield a double bladed similar to Mauls frontal position, but the whole "pole" style was slightly weak.
  25. As was already said by Adam they are two separate teams. I'm just curious, but is the current NWN2 team taken from KotOR2 duties to work on NWN2? If so, that means the game is close to completion and polishing.
