I already had my 'Episode VI Emperor' style fun -> I've gone to Trayus academy and didn't put out my saber even when fighting Sion. Kreia though proved more challenging. PS Anybody else think walking is such a cool feature in kotor? (w00t) Like when I renember going to the Rakata slaughtering them after giving Bastila my lightsaber - she ran and Flurried everyone I pointed at and I was just walking and Force Choking/Storming those ahead of me. (so many awesome memories I got from my K1 DS Soldier/Consular game )

heh forgot to add that 'about' before 1.85 Though I seriously forgot Revan could be 1.72 if you choose him to be a Scoundrel.

Returning to Ebon Hawk through the Map
Darth Kavar replied to Skeeter's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sorry for the off-topic post but I just feel like saying it "Kotor 1 had it why not kotor 2?" -> heh all too familiar occurrence eh? :D EDIT: ok ok I'm gonna make this post have some sense "It is if you use it in a way such as it wasn't intended. If you play K1, you can transit out of the middle of a fight and back again. I'm sure they didn't want you to do that." But where's the fun in that then? It's like using cheap tactics to beat opponents - it gets boring. I renember that Master Flurrying Malak in K1 would be much easier but I rather prefered electrifrying his ass with Force Storm in the end to make it have the "young fool. Only now at the end do you understand" feel If they didn't want you to cheat in the game then why are there cheats in the game at all? It's all about fun isn't it. If someone wants to teleport from a fight back to the EH then it's his decision. -
Swoop Racing or am I a complete idiot?
Darth Kavar replied to Naso's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I believe it's only like that at Telos. I renember winning all swoop races even before the patch but not Telos. -
KOTOR1 Portraits in KOTOR2
Darth Kavar replied to BlackJaguar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If you mean the head models (which is what you most probably meant, not just the 2d portraits) It would probably work if you could extract K1's head model files and textures, rename them to have the name of a K2 head file and put it in the Override directory though exactly I don't know how to do it cuz I've never done it before. Donno if that's legal though Other than that I think there are still some K1 heads in K2's files and most probably you just have to set your character appearance and portrait thru KSE. -
Still makes me wonder how a 1.85 m Revan could wear Calo's (1.50 m) midget armor.

Korriban, is there anything else there?
Darth Kavar replied to Skeeter's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah kinda sucked that you must go thru all those storm beasts, dark jedi, sith assasins all alone. BTW Off topic but did anyone else find the moment weird?? -
Err... did I just say that? *quickly edits last post :D

People have been talking about it the day the patch was released. From what I renember no one knows what this sentence was supposed to mean. I always got a ls from her body and never does one have a chance to kill her so IMO you should just remove that sentence from your changes file and save it :D

Yeah I knew everyone's gonna vote for Kreia so I'll just say what I always do - I hated Kreia because when they put Kreia into the game it's all like suddenly you can't be manipulative since that role's reserved to Kreia, can't be smart cuz if you would be then you couldn't be manipulated by Kreia. It's probably cuz of Kreia that the Exile was made to a dumbass and I hate playing a dumbass (oh just look at those dialog options ). NEways Master Uthar doesn't deserve to be in the poll cuz he couldn't resist my Force Kill IMO Nihilus had the best concept but Malak had an evil laugh and what's a main badguy without an evil laugh :D Calo Nord was also cool 'One.' 'Two.' 'Smart.' <- love it everytime I play it Bandon's only good for pushing Sith Troopers to show his 'power' which he doesn't acctually have (hey wait a minute - he didn't resist my Force Kill too - sth's not right ). And you acctually can make cool things out of his armor if you know how to create new items Sion would be the best IMO but then he started whining and I've lost all respect to him. EDIT: And here another moment where someone must look dumb to make Kreia look powerful. Evil Bastila was awesome when you get to beat the hell out of everyone with her on the Star Forge (in black robes kinda reminded me of Neo and Trinity ) and I just loved the moment where you turn against your fellow jedi at the temple summit plus 'I'll be utterly yours master' and stuff -> everytime playing it feels like the first time - this never gets old

You don't need to rename them if you have Miles Sound Tools - you can play them from there.

All the really great things about this game
Darth Kavar replied to vortexwx's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No I really think it's a good idea with the thread. It really shows how the game had a massive potential of becoming sth great and it did but rather not or did or not... or... let's just say that there are alot of very cool things about the game. The problem is that these things are somewhat of uncomplete or unpolished. Graphics - I don't have anything against the K1 engine - I've been plaing K1 lately and sometimes stood for miutes watching at some sights just to enjoy the graphics. The problem in K2 is that graphics at medium are worse than graphics ar medium in K1. Yes if you max out the graphics in K2 they're good but I still think they're somewhat of blurry (or is it my old graphics card? - though in K1 it looked nice). The cut-scenes are good but again they're damn blurry. Nar-Shaddaa was supposed "It's got a life to it" like Mira said but all I felt was an emptiness (or was it on purpose because of the sector in which I accidentaly landed on Nar Shaddaa?). Taris had a life to it -> the background was acctual models of nice looking buildings, some sith ships flying here and there -> it all made it look like the city's alive. OK ehm... I was supposed to write about the good things of K2 so here we go again: the villains of K2 had a great concept. Sion who came in a ship full of dead republic soldiers and then the cinematic where he kicked Kreia's ass - respect owned back then (though later he's lost it totally because of his whining), Nihilus - the most powerful character in the game with impossible life drain abilities - respect owned too (but then again he kneels before the Exile who isn't very powerful which the game is trying to show us all the time then falls after a couple of rounds not doing too much damage). Ok to the point - I wanted to say that K2 had an awesome enviroment - the problem was how every aspect of a story/sub-story ended in there. The whole lot of concepts which gone off wasted. Really it's like the whole game was made to be the best game ever but at the end it was just like to show everybody that nothing in the game had any meaning except for Kreia. To not look like another one who starts with compliments and ends with complains let me write quickly the best things about K2: - great game characters (or at least their concepts) - robes! - newer lightsaber colors + all the newer items which made upgrading items more than just packing up 2 of the best upgrading-items into them - Onderon conflict (+the sky-ramp battle which was one of the best if not the best of all bigger battles in both Kotors) - DSers have the fun of acctually killing some jedi masters - you can't even imagine how fun was that for me - animations - somer were cooler than in the first kotor IMO (like one of the power attack animations) - the idea of random item generation (though it should check back on whether you've received an item like that or not -> things like 12 violet crystals in a row are killing me) - ok ok the dark atmosphere did work out well most of the game "And that's about all I've got to say about that. Now let's get going" -
The real trick is... you can't uninstall the game or it will assume it as your first playthru. That way I for example will never get those dialog options. I don't have as many HDD space as the average gamer. *(goes to dialog editor to check them out )

Who was the better Sith Lord?
Darth Kavar replied to Jedi Master Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Kreia though an interesting character - I really hated her during my 2nd playthru (DS). It's because the story's so made up that whenever there's a sittuation to say sth smart Kreia pops up and tells me what to do and it looks like the Exile never thought of saying something smart on his own. And the dialogue options are crap mostly because I think they wanted Kreia to look smart and powerful -> and is there an easier way to do that then pack whole lot of dumb and weak people around her? The exile can never be manipulative nor come up to outsmarting somebody because those roles are reserved to none other than Kreia. Whatever happened to things like Revan's poison Yuthura and Uthar?? Oh no you can't do this in K2 because Kreia hasn't thought of it yet when she does -> she'll tell you and only then can you do it. No offense to the whole storyline but if they wanted everything to work as Kreia planned and she gets to have all the best ideas on outsmarting eveyone then so much for replayability. -
mandalore wars inconsistancy
Darth Kavar replied to OrganisedChaos's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I could be wrong but from what I renember the republic fleet at the battle above Malachor V consisted out of soldiers/jedi loyal to the republic who would not turn against it to become sith soldiers/dark jedi - that's why they were expendable or even worse -> were supposed to die at Malachor. -
What is more rewarding to play in the end?
Darth Kavar replied to radiohead3's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The whole problem with the 'Dark Side Manipulator' is that this role is restricted to someone else in the game so I think on purpose they didn't give you all those too many choices to trick people like you had in K1. This time it is people that trick you on every 2 steps of the game. I felt like the exile was dumb and weak yet strong and at times smart (though always when there's a chance to say sth smart it's made so like you would never think of it yourself but instead it was all granny comming up with those ideas). Playing LS wasn't all that bad because those events is ussually what happens to LS characters (being captured, losing a fight but later comming back to win it). /Next time I'm playing a DS Anakin type cuz that's probably what K2 DS-mode will be good for (getting kicked in the ass, being manipulated yet remain strong, defeat many people and later becoming Vader II and throwing the Emperor-type character into a 5km deep hole )./ -
It depends on whether you're playing male or female. I've been playing only male so far (cuz I am one and wouldn't like the idea of the guys in the game hitting on me). So I've gone: Onderon - Nar Shaddaa - Dantooine - Onderon again - Korriban It's mostly like that because the quickest you get an NPC is on Onderon (Dxun to be exact) and then on Nar Shaddaa. Yes you could make Dantooine also early because there's that nice crystal of yours but it doesn't give you all that much when you're on a lower level. If female then you could do Dantooine ealry but I donno on which part of it you get your NPC there.

Within the unknown regions...........
Darth Kavar replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's most probable - Canderous says this in K1: "The Sith had retreated back to their empire and there were none else strong enough to challenge us." when first he told that the sith came to them with the offer to fight the republic. -
No offense but dialog options are cr*p
Darth Kavar replied to Darth Kavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well maybe they wanted the exile to be a dumbass anyway since he lets Mira and G0T0 join with him who have done nothing good for him before that (that's the biggest "you're dumb. face it" event in the game if you ask me but that's another story for another thread ). -
No offense but dialog options are cr*p
Darth Kavar replied to Darth Kavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well I'm playing K1 right now and am playing a subtle DS guy and it's going perfectly so far though I'm not getting alot of DS points but at least I don't get LS pts for saying "thanks". Yeah I am a jerk every now and then when I want to but I acctually got the choice not to be and still get no LS points. -
I just wanted to say that for me it's not the bugs or combat or graphics or cut-out stuff which makes Kotor 2 not as good as K1. It's 2 things. The first was that the Exile's like the second most important char in the game (after Kreia) or at least I've had that feeling thru the second half of my DS playthru. That can't be changed however so **** it. The second thing and most important is that the dialog options are *rap as hell. You don't get to choose out of so many different DS ways to play the game through. You only must be the uber evil kill everything in your path guy/girl. In K2 for example when you meet the second guy that pushes you for credits on Nar Shadaa (not the one with infos or the one attacked by thugs): you can do a: - Oh you poor guy! - here's 20 creds! (LS points) - Get away. I don't have any credits - I'll friggin kill you if you don't go away! or sth like that I was glad at first but the problem is that when you choose option nr.2 then he goes like: "PLEEEEZE!!!" And you're left with the 2 other options. The next problem is that when you choose opt. 2 you get rid of him but then comes granny with all her talk and why in bloody hell must I either choose that I felt powerful when saying that (wonder who would have anyway but the dialog is there). OK Enough of one example - the whole thing is that in K2 there are indeed alot of variations in LS play but DS is kinda forced to kill any maggot on the path or else you'll get LS points for being a softy. I mean "I see you're becoming the most powerful of all Jedi, Anakin." <- Kotor 2 gives for such things LS points since it's a complement. For telling T3 "good job" you get LS points. Not only the dialog options are crap since you almost never get any neutral answers but if you do they give you LS points. The DS play is strictly for guys who want to be Nihilus II since the options are like "You are my slave! Or I'll better kill you. And then I'll kill everyone behind you and so on" because the other option was "I love puppies". I played K1 with a Lightside but sometimes doing bad things for good consequences (killing Bendak), a blaster jedi, the super lightside guy, super darksider and a Dark side guy who's not like the first because of the fact that he'd rather make more allies out of people than kill them. In K2 won't get that chance - I've already played the first of the above mentioned and though it worked out well - my DS game was like stopped every 5 minutes to yell "what stupid options". Donno about the rest of you out there but if it's one thing they should change is the dialog options in K2.

Hey if you're a Jedi Guardian with INT 8 won't it make you gain no skill points at all?
-
I didn't like Kreia as the all intelligent char mostly because it was sooo forced that she must be all smart and stuff. She said alot of stupid things after which I can't talk back on her and prove she just denied her own words (Like with Nihilus and his power of great magnitude and then denying it "Power? Do you think so? You would be wrong" Oh and "apathy is death" -> that's from the ever-always-neutral alignement character but that's on a sidenote cuz she's not really neutral - she just uses the Force Cloak (prerequisities - Kreia or Emperor Palpatine). Kreia zaps me as a DS player on Dantooine when on Malachor where she's supposed to be stronger I can kick her ass in a couple of seconds. At least the whole idea of fighting Malak was nice - he was really weaker than Revan and the thing that why he was more powerful in the end was all explained. Sion - oh yeah - it's the guy whom I can't beat while Korriban runs thru him but when Malachor runs thru him I can beat him easily because he suddenly wasnts to serve Kreia but she chose me for destroying the force (what a dissapointment for Sion - guess he wanted to be in that role eh?) <- either that or I didn't get the story right. Nihilus was kewl in my opinion but if there would be a couple of more cutscenes with him then it would be nice (acctually you talk with Kreia about how you felt a disturbance of the force and you refer to Nihil but all I got was my level 15 promotion and the prestige class - no disturbance/no cutscene - it was kinda like talking with T3 when only from your dialog choices you can tell what he just said). Goto was OK but the idea of him being my party member just utterly sucked (where the hell did the exile get his brain when he takes a girl who just gassed him and a droid that ordered to electrify him to his party?? - Hey! Let's take Sion with us! He tried to kill me too! And that HK from Peragus. I could write about this all day but I think I'll just go play K1 now
