"Where is the portion of D&D character creation where you develop personality, ethics, background, etc? You can tell a lot about a roleplaying system by taking a peek at the character sheet. D&D is about "roll" playing. You can "role" play in D&D despite the rules. But that's not what the rules cater to." Huh? Unlike other pnp systems, D&D doesn't force you into some silly role. The closest thing to it is alignment and even that has lots of leeway (safe paladin and possibly monk). Perosnality, ethics, background is not and should not be a hard coded rule. Unlike other pnp systems, D&D doesn't force you to roll some random die to get your charatcer's perosnalities. That's lame. Plain, and simple lame. That kind of thing should be done well thought out by the player with the help of the DM to fit the campaign setting. That kind of things shouldn't be sticthed on to some lame character sheet. Perhaps its those other systems that are about "roll playing" and not role-playing. Seriously, the last thing iw ant in chart form is how many relatives I have or how my parents died (or if they even died). That's pathetic in all its lameness. "D&D is about "roll" playing." No. A system that forces you to ROLL up your character's personality, history, nad background is the ROLL playing game. D&D is a role-playing game. The palyer decides that stuff. Period. This stuff is expalined quite clearly in both the PHB and epsicially in the DMG. All characters should have a genral personality, ethics systems, and have at least a (semi) detailed background. However, none of this rolled like in other systems which are nothing but ROLL playing systems. Lame. D&D is the best ROLE-playing system becuase it allows the PLAYERS to role-play thier characters; not forcing them to ROLLplay them. I don't want a set of dice telling me my character is honourable. R00fles! "My point however, is that a system like the WOD system actually has rules to cater to "role" playing. If you play your nature/demeanor well, then you are rewarded with Willpower points." That's not roleplaying; that's rollplaying. "If you fail to play with your morality path, you are penalized." OMG! That's the D&D system. You have NEVER played D&D. Never. "The game is designed to encourage role-play. D&D is not." You got that backwards. D&D is role-playing; WOF is rollplaying.

"There's a lot more to it than rolling attributes." If this is a silly crack at D&D; I hope you realize that its characetr creation is so far past rolling 6 ability scores which takes up such a small, small, small, small, small amount of characetr creation effort. Just plain silly.

"Keep in mind that you are all professional KotOR gamers." WOW! The lucky bums. They get paid to play KOTOR2 while I'll have to pay $70 for the privelege. R00fles! -
"If you like making parties, then you will enjoy icewind dale 2." Simply not true for all people. <_<

"Aribeth - yes, you could convince her to abandon her evil path, but that was quite late in the game after she had given herself to evil and did not change much, if anything at all - we don't get to know her fate after the end of the game, after all, so... " HOTU... -

"Aribeth? That two dimensional character was worthless. How the hell can you influence her? No matter what you do she still betrays Neverwinter. Killed her for that." You didn't seem to play HOTU. You can also influence her in the OC. Sure, she 'betrays' NW (only after the city betrays her first); but you can also get her to see the errors of the way. "Imoen? That is a laugh. She pretty much stayed the same through out the game" Most likely, yes. But there are subtle changes as well due to your character's influence on her. However, she is the wekaest of the inflouence. "Sarevok was a simple minded oaf that only cared about one thing. Himself." This is only true if you didn't bother to help him in TOB, and don't help him come to an understanding of good vs. evil. Sure, he never becomes pure eharted; but he most cetrainly cares about others. HINT: His ending in TOB proves this. This surely beats the lame "Pure Hearted Jedi turns to Evil Doer because you said theyw ere HOT" in KOTOR2. R00fles! -

"When I discovered there was Korriban and Dantooine, I rolled my eyes. They simply took two areas and plastered some new artwork on it. Pretty lame IMO" That's not lame. That's continuation. You sound like the people who compained about IWD2 because it "reused" maps. I'm sorry; but sequels should "reuse" things from previous games. Geez. -

"It's possible to infludence the characters in some small ways in that game thorugh, but throughly turn them?" Sarevok. Imoen. Batista. Jaheira. Viconia. Aribeth. The list goes on. -

How is it a new mechanic? It really does nothing new. You can influence npcs. Both BIO, and Obsidian/BIS games have been doing that years for the npcs without a fancy name. Utterly silly. -
Only 4th? You must REALLY hate the game then. Afterall, reviews with 90%+ are being trashed beause theyw ere too negative. R00fles!

If it's as poorly implemented as it is in KOTOR2; I hope not. It seems to me that it's pretty much no different than any other RPG with joinable npcs except as a cheap way to get LS/DS points which was pretty much done in KOTOR1 anyways withiout a fancy name for it. -

"You will find that the influence system works exactly as it was designed to" Really? The Influence System was designed purposely to have npcs influence the PC and not the other way around? I originally heard differently. R00fles! Or that someone who fell to the Dark Side would actually care that a DS character would refuse to help someone because they were in need? Hahahaha!! I tells ya one thing; if the system was designed for those purposes and the deisgn isn't broken; perhaps the deisgn is just bad. O.. Touche. And, as for difficulty, 'the going solo to make it ahrder' is silly. One of the bigest things about both KOTOR and KOTOR2 are the npcs - afterall, the FABLED Influence System is useless if you go solo. Not to mention, the game is rumoured to be balanced for a party not solo. Hmm.. Your suggestions suck tm. -

"Are you saying this is working as intended? If you are a Dark Jedi, with full Dark Side Mastery, and I did something evil in your presence, the last thing you would say to me is "This poor man only wanted our help, and you refused to give it!" Hahaha! Influence is THA awesome! -
"Btw, Volourn will chirp in and say it

"But you won't know for certain till you buy it. Personally I like to try before I buy to make sure I am getting a product I really want." That's what reviews - both professional and consumer - are for. Just look at the facts we know and ignore the actual opinions. Besides, we all know you'll buy the game .

"What more were you really looking for?" More realism in the system. When influencing people into doing what you want them to do you tend to make them believe what you say is true - you don't actually believe it. So, the dark side, you try to convince them the LS is for the weak of heart and cowards not the brave and honourable. For the LS, you'd try to convince them that the DS only ends up hurting you. Telling someone - anyone - that they are a moron will not make them see things your way. Period. Ever. Telling someone that are cool will make them like you; but it will not make them become 'bad" either. Very lame. Heck, the way E2 handles Anakins starting descent to the DS is a lot better than what KOTOR2 does and it gets a lot of flak. But, at least there is a reason for Anakin's future fall - anger and hatred; not just because someone called him a bad name. R00fles!

"One flaw with your "revelation"... You can't lie to your party members while working on influence tree options, you can only kiss their ass and gain lightside points, or shove your first in their gut and gain darkside points." Yeah, this seems lame to me. The player doens't influence the npcs; but the npcs influence the PC. However, influence was supposdly going to work the other way. I mean, seriously, if someone was being a jerk to me I wouldn't eventually become "darkside" nor if I was a "badas" someone sweettalking me wouldn't make me good either. It seems so lame in its simplicity. "Hey, jerk off, you loser! - Gain DS point - NPC now turning dark because he was called a jerk and a loser. R00fles! "I'm sorry, but a few measly LS points won't hurt. There's plenty of opportunities to gain DS points to make up for the LS points." That's right. To make someone go dark you have to be nice to them. That's also pretty lame. "You are nice, dawg." The Darksider gains LS point and the "nice' eprson has become more evil. Hahaha. There is no logic at all seemingly at work in the 'Influence System'.

Yeah, screw the reviewers. You know, those reviewers who spammed 85%+ ratings for KOTOR2. Geez, they really did a good job bashing KOTOR2. R00fles! Whatever.

"por2 actually had better combat than toee." You gots a drinkings problem buddy? Hahaha. POR2 combat was a joke. While TOEE's combat was easy; it's comnbat system was awesome. The same cna't be said about POR2. Unless you hink a game which throws 10s of slow arse enemies at you repeatedly is actually the epitome of good combat. POR2's cpombat had ZERO good qualities. TOEE's combat had lots of good stuff. It just that the bad parts of the game ruine dit. POR2 had no good parts. Period. None. Zero. Zilch. Nadda.

"I knew those rabbits were acting smug" Rabbits are just more of natur's victims. If we don't get 'em; nature will anyways. It's the way nature works. Huamns as all species are just nature's tools to commit its destructive deeds. I do not Blame Hitler or Saddam. I blame Nature for making them. -

Surely, there are above par game syou enjoy that you could play instead. Justa dmit it. Bl may have problems - and, it does - but, you more or less - enjoyed it. There's nothing with admitting you like a game that has problems as long as you don't pretend those problems don't exist.
