Doesn't sound role-playishness. Sounds too munchkiny or FFish.

"Not a DDO fanboi, just reasonable enough to 1) read up on a game first, and 2) Actually play the game before writing it off!" 1. Take your advice, and read what I wrote. 2. I did read up on it. That's why I know I have no more interest in it unless they change their whole game plan. 3. The advice to play a game before writing it off is what got me to buy POR2 even knowing before hand I had great doubts about its quality. Because of that philosophy I got to own one of the crappiest games ever. 4. From what I've read, DDO is gonna be crappy. You have given me no reason to think otherwise - neither has the information they've given. Game over for DDO. "PPS: Here is a good string for folks to read regarding GW and how free it is actually" Outside of purchasing the initial game, and any possible expansions, GW is free to play on line. there are no extra charges inspite of them adding quite a bit in free downloads. GW > DDO until proven otherwise.

Which is better? PC or Xbox Kotor?

"I'd say by that comment you haven't played Halo2 on Live that much. (the immature part, not the kiddie part) There's tons of morons running around on Live actting like idiots." Actually, I don't play Halo 2, at all. -

"Other games have influence but this was the first time I had ever seen it woven into the actual dialogue tree." Actually, they do. They just didn't advertise it and make it just another stat. Good diea, poor implementation (overall, 'cause some parts of it was done well). -

"Glad to see you haven't changed." Why would I? I'm perfect. "The last version of FIFA, NHL and NBA Live were also direct ports, with no difference in functionality...at least in my experience. If you can give me examples, then knock your socks off." Controls are awful, horrible bugs, and simply not as smooth gameplay as the console version. PC version is way too choppy. And, no, it's not my computer or me 'not being used to the controls' either. My PC can play the most recent of games easy, and I'm as used to the keyboard as one possibly can be. 'They get stuck with their own sets of crap games like Crime Patrol 2: Drug Wars, or Endgame. All systems have crap games! It also doesn't change the fact that the consoles have missed out on great games like Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, The Total War series, IL-2 Sturmovik, Battlefield 1942, Half-Life 2 (still not out for console), the XCOM games (if you want to go back in time), Neverwinter Nights, the many great modules for Neverwinter Nights. It also looks like they're going to get the shaft for stuff like Dragon Age, Age of Empires III. There's many great games that are on console and not on PC, but there's many great games on PC that never make it to console." And, the PC doesn't get games like Jade Empire or many of the Final Fantasy games. The PC also has to wait months to get ports like KOTOR, or Fable and by the time they get out the games are already 'passe' for the most aprt and we PC gamers are spoiled rotten. "Before accusing people of being blind, check your own prescription. Consoles are (arguably) winning the "wars" because of the advantages that they have over PC, which in no way include the games. The biggest thing about consoles is that they are cheaper. It's much more appealing to buy a $300 gaming rig compared to something over $1000. Consoles are also attractive for their consistent architecture. It's much less nerve wracking to develop a game knowing full well what everyone that plays the game is going to have for hardware. APIs help the PCs somewhat, but even still manufacturers do different things with the APIs that eliminate identical usage. It's easy to get more out of the hardware because there's no concerns for overhead from a beefy OS, and compatibility concerns are out the window. The low cost of the console also improves the demographics. Even a crappy game has a better chance of being successful since there's simply more people that buy them." This proves nothin; but my point that consoles are winning. You seem to forget that the consoles are winning decide by the fact they have to comete against each other for 'games exlusives' since not everyone can afford all three. "You can also look at the sociological aspects too if you want. Game consoles have long been a part of the mainstream, especially considering many people aged 25 or under have used them, and likely owned them at some point. This even excludes any Atari owners! Since it's more a part of the mainstream, it has become more socially acceptable to spend larger amounts of time playing a console, than it has to play a computer." Here we go, again. Consoles are for kiddies. *Yawn* The age difference between the two types of gaming isn't that great. I know one thing - PC gamers are just as immature; if not more so than console gamers - at least the ones on the net. "I'm curious Volourn...which sports games have you played on the PC?" Most of the EA sports games... -

Volourn replied to MTJ's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No. Influence was horrible. Besides, infleucne has been around for ages. Heck, TOB had it, and it wa sjust an expansion. the problem with KOTOR2's Influence System is it doens't work as advertised - the NPCs influence the PC; not the other way around like it was supposed to. There are exemptions; but all they do is prove the rule. People think Influence in games is new in KOTOR2; but it isn't. Not even close. -

Which console are you signing up for?
Volourn replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
X-BOX 360 as I'm a BIO fanboy, and they're developing for that console so it auto wins. -
"For anyone interested in actually reading up on the game BEFORE casting judgement" ASSuming only makes an ASS out of you; not others. I have done the reading,a nd yp, they expect one to wait to get all basic classes and races. Nope, not gonna do that. The game sounds crappy. And, if you had done the research for real it would sound crappy to you. $15/month may sound good; but ti isn't since you pay that amount no matter how much play. You may be the D&D Online Fanboy here willing to sacrifce your life for your new God; but it doens't change the fact that the game sounds like it's gonna suck. The sad thing is I love D&D, and I know the game is gonna suck.

"Well, Volourn, FPS in the consoles also sucks" That's ok. I hate FPS anyways so that's another bonus point for consoles. :D "We could keep this discussion up all night, we'd just end up with the same conclusion. That is that you think they're crappy and I don't" :D -

"I don't understand why so many people want sequels to the same game." That should be obvious. When I buy a sequel, I *do* want more of the same. I bought KOTOR2 as I enjoyed KOTOR1; not because I enjoyed some other games. If I want to buy a 'dfiferent' game than i'd buy a different game; not a sequel. Afterall, a sequel is sold based on the fact it *is* a sequel to a likely popular original... -
Graphics like these in Kotor3

Yes. KOTOR3 should have better graphics. Anyone who votes otherwise is just being silly. " -

"I don't care whether or not I've got a PC or a Console, I consider them to be both equally good. And sportsgames on PC are just a matter of opinion, just like yours is." No. Sports games on PC suck. Plain, and simple. "It's just a question of being used to the controls on a pc, and the controller on a console" Being used to controls is not the problem. The games being crappy on PC is. -
Which is better? PC or Xbox Kotor?
Volourn replied to Mephisto's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"Sorry, just cause your comp sucks doesn't make the console version of a game better. Consoles are generally for people who can't afford to upgrade their PC all the time. Sorry but, as long as you have a decent comp the console version is not as good .(unless like I said earlier it was a crappy port) Plus, if a console game has split screen multiplayer than you can be sure that the PC version has online MP unlike console games where it has to say it on the box. (Live enabled or can play online on the PS2)" Hahahaha. Hilarious. It's my machine's fault even though it can play ANY game released that PC games suck? No, it's because the games suck. My machine is more than capable. Sports games on console = awesome; sports games on PC = crapoola. This is an undisputable fact. Hate to break it you ya; but PC games aran't all that. If they were, they'd be winning the 'wars'; but they aren't. But, hey, blind yourself by pushing your head in the sand. It doens't change the facts. -
Yay. An actual intelligent, and worthwhile thread by you. I totally agree. That said, I'm sure both our opinions will be ignored on this issue... <_<

Which is better? PC or Xbox Kotor?
Volourn replied to Mephisto's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
No, PC games arne't better. Every sports game I have ever played on computer has sucked even when their console counterparts were very good. PC games, by and alrge, are overrated. Afterall, at least the console doens't get stiuck with crappy games like Dungeon Seige or Pools of Radiance 2. R00fles! "Last I heard the Xbox version of K2 had it's own bugs...unfixable bugs" Yeah, someone dropped the ball on that one yet it still was nowhere near as buggy as KOTOR2 is on PC even after the patch. <_< -

People tend to forget that even after a PC games patched, a console game is still less buggy. WOWSERS! -

Volourn replied to Mephisto's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"PC can always be upgraded so you don't have to spend nearly as much at one tim. With an Xbox, the graphics and some other things can't be upgraded and you have to wait for a newer version to come out and that puts you out more then a PC would for a new video card. And you can always add and PATCH things. Sure Xbox has Xbox Live but some games don't have that. A game on a PC however, you can be 99% sure that there will be updates." Thank you for adding nothing to the conversation. Perhaps, you meant to quote someone else? <_< -

"Games will always be better on PC than on Xbox/PS2/GC." False. Only someone who doesn't know what they are talking about would claim that. -
Are you saying that Bush and Co. never brought up Iraqis' Crimes against Humanity, the breaking of UN resolutions a,mongst other thinsgw hen making the case? or, you one of those who will pretend it was always 100% about WMDs. They played a big part of the reasoning; but it wasn't the only one.
