"Sheperd was given a few conversation options. In the bottom right hand corner of the screen was displayed red circle, split into six sections. Each section described a basic emotional reaction like "I'm not going to go along with this," but not the exact statement that would be uttered." This is the tricky part, and I asked on the baords if the 'ol dialogue options would still be in along with the emotional add ons and was told yes. That's why I actually want to see a dialogue screen...
-
Probably. Kanadians are known for their bigotry. At least they should be as that's exactly what they are.

You'll still get the normal dialogue choices found in BIO games which was biggest worries. I just want to see a screen or a clip of it in action.

BL's role-playing is on par (and in some ways better); but it's combat is much, much worse. In fact, BL's combat makes KOTOR's combat look godly. ""New" dialog system? What's is it?" I'm not perfectly clear on it as of yet. It seems to combine the typical BIO/Obsidian/Dialogue with a new emotive type. Here's a snip about a convo with a bartender from the various previews: "BioWare chose to play through with the stock bald headed guy, and demonstrated a tense conversation with a bartender. Sheperd walked up and engaged the drink distributor politely at first, inquiring where a certain diplomat might be found. When the barkeep bristled and clammed up, Sheperd was given a few conversation options. In the bottom right hand corner of the screen was displayed red circle, split into six sections. Each section described a basic emotional reaction like "I'm not going to go along with this," but not the exact statement that would be uttered. Picking the more forceful, negative reaction of the bunch two times, Sheperd eventually pulled out a gun and aimed it directly at the bartender's face, and subsequently go the location of the diplomat" P.S. On top of all the other stuff, I think this illustrates that this is no simple 'action rpg'. Not to many action games have that kind of emphasis on dialogue. Heck, most role-playing games don't either. LOL

"It just looked like you were calling the BG games action games which is wrong." Well.. they do have lots of action... what do you call having to fight an army xvarts? :D But, yeah, ME will probably closer to an 'action' combat style than BG... like I said, closer to a mix of JE/KOTOR. But, the actual role-playing, if previews are accurate, should be at least on the level of JE (which means better than BG). My biggest worry is the 'new' dialogue system they have... that could turn out ugly...

ME Combat (as described): 1. Stats effect outcomes 2. You can control the npcs or allow AI to control them in battle 3. You can pause to give commands Sure sounds like IE combat, and any BIO combat system. Though, it's combat has been described by BIO as closest to KOTOR. (but hooepfully it's much better). And, it won't take much to have better rping than the Bgs. R00fles!

I would hope you don't have to click on every attack. Games that force you to do that are annoying unless it's an action. This is an RPG. But, I doubt it's like that.

If the DM CLient isn't a part of the CD at release, and comes out in a patch; it's not part of the game because it means we didn't truly pay for it. It was a free bonus like any other patch.

NWN 2 DM Client will not ship with the game

True, which is why it's silly for us to argue what THEY want. -
NWN 2 DM Client will not ship with the game
Volourn replied to Lare Kikkeli's topic in Computer and Console
"If a sufficient number of folks start to voice concern on an issue, there will be an answer." Hmm.. This kinda proves the DM Client *is* more important than the German article/OC length is. He has yet to answer the OC length stuff personally yet he's already addressed the DM Client stuff. Go figure. edit: "then hit -

"You, Vol, would help me do so." "But you gotta have faith..doo doo, doo doo." Old man! I love that song or at least that part of it! :D "Why would you demand answers in a thread Feargus isn't likely going to read, though? You could easily shake things up and make a big issue (well, bigger than here, anyway) out of it at the NWN2forums." Not tonight. Length of OC threads would likely drown in the sea of DM Client threads over there. LOL -

"Then I'd suggest waiting until the DM client comes out, if it is that big of a deal to you." Read the entire thread, and come back to me on this comment. Thank you for your cooperation. -

"so, you simply gonna ignores that your reliance on the josh answer conflicts with your acceptance of the 30+ hours number?" Huh? I don't accept the 30+ hours estimate as fact. I'm using it as evdience that these previewers don't know whhat the length will be.. because Obsidian isn't 100% sure yet as evdienced by Mr. Sawyer's comments. And, yeah, I'm all about sucking up the 'boss'. Have you been reading this thread at all? "'course a problem occurs if we apply same logic to other mp aspects of the game, and the toolset." Or gnomes and halflings. Hardly anyone uses them. Might as well take away evil chocies in quests; because the majority of players play the game once and usuaully the good way so need for all the extra effort that will be poured into the evil part. The more people say parts that only a minority would use cna be cut and no lose is what leads to a game being gutted all to heck. Just look at the existence of DDO and POR2 as proof. -
NWN 2 DM Client will not ship with the game
Volourn replied to Lare Kikkeli's topic in Computer and Console
"Which is exactly why it should be rushed out. " No. It's why it should be part of the actual game... if that means the game should be delayed so be it. SP will buy the game whenever it comes out (at leats the ones here). Everybody here talks about what the 'masses' want like they actually know. LOL :D I'll stick with detailing my own selfish needs, and wants from this game. -

"that estimate were from fergie himself" No. It was attributed to them through a deciphering on the Codex boards from some German magazine/site. Nice try though. Anyways, good tatic. on trying to take over this topic!
