"someone on the Bioware boards said I should have walked to make the game last longer." Must've been Hades. Walking for the sake of walking in CRPGS is just plain dumb waste of time.

"but he had a good deal of help due to Weekes sucking so badly." LOL :D

JE is 20-30 hours unless you skipped everything. Take that!!! It also has the best role-playing this side of FO. Take that x2!!!

!!! WARNING!!! LONG, POSSIBLY BORING POST AHEAD !!!WARNING!!! BACKGROUND: Thanks to Atari announcing that darn PSP turn base D&D game, it's got me itching for some tb D&D fun. Due to this, despite my MANY complaints about the game and consideirng I was *this* close to beating it a long time ago in a galaxy far, far awat; I decided to see if I can finish it so it can be upgraded from poor game to good game... We shall see.. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Considering how relativley easy I found the game the first time, and combat is the best part of it, I decided to play this version in Iron Mode. Let's hope it does not crash. This means characters will die and will be replaced and all rolls are final (except for the leader's ability scores which I rerolled once, lol)... Let's meet the crew... THE CAST: The party is known as "Evil's Charmers" - so named by their leader's penchant for dominating enemies and forcing them to sacrifice themselves for their cause. Party alignment is NE. 1. Karyle the Bloodcharmer - LE Human Male Enchanter of Vecna ---------------------------- He loves control. He lives it. He breathes it. Forcing others to do what he wants is what gets him up in the morning. Entering physical combat is beneath, and he'd rather stick with his spells. Karyle is no fool, however, and if he needs to use a weapon to survive, he surely will. The Enchanter finds controlling the undead are for cowards, and illusions are the weak so he *never* uses spells from those puny schools. Karyle is the undisputed leader of the party because the others either fear that'll magically control them or they trust him to lead them to success in their respective goals. 2. Harshii - NE Halfling Female Rogue of Erythnul -------- She is all about the kill, and the loot. Harshii follows Karyle because she sees him watching her with lust in his eyes, and she fears if she crosses him the Enchanter will just enspell her which gives the halfling shivers. She bides her time, however, to a situation where a qucik strike of her dagger will end the wizard's life. 3. Thorrak Darkgem - CE Dwarf Male Barbarian of Erythnul -------------------- Thorrak only feels comfortable when covered in the blood of his enemies. He fears nothing, and no one and follows the leader of the group as long as the dwarf is given ample oppurtunity to partake in his favorite activity - bloodshed. Karyle hopes to one day find a way to control Thorrak enough to give him proper warrior training to balance out his berserking tendencies... 4. Psycholara - CE Half Orc Female Sorceror of Chaos (no diety) ------------ As her name suggests, this she orc is a psycho. Her motives are unknown, her activities are unknown, her desires are unknown. Psycholara's true name has been forgotten and it is doubtful she even knows what it is. She loves explosive spells as well as those spells used to confuse the enemy (and her allies). Nobody, not even even Karyle, knows why Psycholara has joined them... and, he feels it's not worth asking the half orc to leave.. espicially since she is useful at times.. Eventually, the sorceress will branch out into warrior, and rogue ways when it is time. 5. Manou Klanthith - LE Human Male Cleric of Hextor ------------------ Manou is beyond arrogant, and believes he is Hextor's Chosen Above All Other Priests. He believes this because in his mind, his diety speaks to him directly. In fact, it was Hextor himself who ordered Klanthith to join up with Karyle due to his belief that much destruction and bloodshed will be committed due to the wizard's goals. Manou doesn't even talk with the other party members and only addresses the party leader when he needs another to do soemthing. The cleric only grudgingly heals his allies on orders by his boss. COMBAT TATICS: Fireballs and other area effect spells are thrown then the barbarian rushes in followed by the cleric slower as back up. The rogue picks off any enemies that seem to be vulnerible (ie. spellcasters). Karyle will usually try to dominate the most powerful looking foe, and hold any other most dangerous ones. The others simply hope that Psycholara does something useful as she may run in with her staff or cast a spell, Nobody knows. If a retreat is called (only by the leader), he retreats first then followedby the others. TOWN TATICS: As the leader, Karyle realizes the small halfling is the most likely to get wanted answers without making a fuss. If intimidation is required, the dwarf can usually scare foes into giving them what they want. If neither of those options are viable, Karyle himself is on hand to change the target's mind with a spell or two. NEXT UPDATE: I will introduce the party as they take their first steps on the journey. OTHER STUFF: If you have any feedback, or questions about specifc characters or stats or just toot a horn give it a go. Even predict which character will be the first to fall. My prediction is Psycholara! Heheh. 'Til then... Have fun. Or not.

"I've been playing EQ2 lately as well. It actually has a ton of depth. The item variety is outrageous, the different skills you get when levelling are awesome," True. " and the quests are limitless." Yeha, theya re. Problem is therely most a list of kill x number of a certain type enmies. Some aren't but those are the rarities. "So far my biggest struggle has been finding decent folk to play with though. It's not a very easy game to solo, particularly if you only like doing quests." Cool. If you want, do a player search for Volourn. He's a Level 23 Paladin. I also ahvae a level 8 character; but her name is hard to remmeber as I haven't played it much. "I haven't really made up my mind about paying for another month."
-
I'm kinda in the same boat. In fact, family and friends of mine who enjoy EQ2 bugged me to buy the game, and I did. It's not a bad game. When it groups it can be found, and I love seeing the different areas, and monsters. Combat can be challenging too. But, if it wasn't for everyone, I doubt I'd be willing to spend nearly $20 a month to continue playing. Fun? Yes. Fun enough? Dunno about that. Of course, as per usual, dwarves make it worthwhile. GO DWARVES GO!!!

How do you know it's good? Have you played it?

"Lundqvist is a top goalie, but he's not doing anything other goalies haven't done before." Neither is what they did. Then again, a rookie goalie having 30 wins, being in the top 5 for both GAA/S%, stealing the starting goalie position from a veteran, and helping your team return to the payoffs after missing 7 seasons in a row (with lots of help from Jagr hehe) isn't something that's common either. Bottom line is Lundqvist got robbed because goalies are almost always treated like 2nd class citizens to skaters which is lame consideirng how important goalies are to a team's success. "it's not fair to knock an individual just because the rest of his team sucks." Yes, it is when that player is getting all the ice team.
-
He's mine too.. even when he disagrees with me. He's always been cool.

"Playoffs are just a part of the entire season." No. They're seperate. Why do you think there's a seperate MVP for both? Why aren't play off points counted in the scoring race? Why are first and second team awards awarded for each seperated? Why are stats for eahc kept seperately. Sorry, you lose. The regualr season is for regular season awards. The play offs are for play off awards. Game over, and case closed.

Nah, it would be a waste. JE is a 1 year old game. It'll be 2 years (at the earliest) if released on PC... It's time to move on.
-
"but Gromnir is nowhere near as random as is vol." That's weird. The most oft complaint I hear is that I never change,a nd I'm too repeteive... yet, you (and a few others) claim I'm 'too random'. Weird... And, oh btw, FIGHT THE MAN'S POWER! He's held ya down too long.
-
Since this rumour seems to ahve been a bust, it should be pointed out that BIO has promised a 'surprise' at E3.. The oppular thought was the announcemnt of their yet undiscloed x-box 360 game which would likely be JE2... but, it would be a dissapointment (at least to me) if it ended up just being JE for PC.... *shrugs*

WOW! From me whining about what looks to be an actual good turn base D&D game being on a silly handheld to.... to... THIS?!?: "Are there any graphic-based interfaces for this compiler? Sure it's fast and relient, but doing everything from the command prompt is messy. And P.S., Java rules at application programming (C# is quite good aswell), C/C++ is very good for for A.I. and API though" 'Nough said. "

"I've reported you numerous times, Volourn. " For some reason, this isn't surprising. :D TRhen again, when I was in my 'reporting trolls' phase, I believe I reported you for some of your not so nice posts too. So, it equals out.

BREAKING NEWS: BETHESDA TELLS ESRB TO STICK IT!
Volourn replied to Judge Hades's topic in Computer and Console
Yet, NWN characters had b00bies and was rated teen.. even with Aribeth's "jiggly* ****...Yet, it was untouched... Go figure.. -
Meh. I disagree. Just because people knows us simply because we post a lot doesn't make us any more important than all the other posters. "After all, I never had more requests for official warnings and moderated status than I did for you!" Oh really? Name some names. I need to go get some revenge. Anyways, thanks for ignoring them. I have one official warning, and let's keep it that way. "

Hmm.. I'm a fool. LOL He snuck in there somehow for the Vezina... Kinda ruins my theory. CONSPIRACY!!! LOL I don't think Broduer was a top 3 goalie... Well.. it still stands that if play-offs counted, Lundqvist surley wouldn't be a top 3 goalie..

"I'm probably as much of an Obsidian fanboy as any person on this board, but that doesn't mean I'm not willing to ask tough questions." of course, when the question has been answered it should be let go... Mr. Sawyer has answered it. As the Lead Designer of NWN2, I think we should take his answer as Obsidian's stance on the issue. Espicially, since the interviews/reviews have wild accuracy dealing with the time (20, 30, and 40 hours have all been quoted in the last week) and other stuff (only 16 players allowed in MP which is false and has already been squashed as false at the NWN2 baords). "Gromnir is as much of the landscape on these boards as Hades or Vol." We're just random posters who post a lot. None of us are important.

"The Post-season isn't supposed to be taken into account, so I'm not sure what you are trying to prove." Um.. Did you miss the whole debate earlier in this thread (or the other NHL thread). There was a whole disucssion of whether or not the post season mattered in the awards ceremony (other than the ConnSmythe obvious). I stated that only the regualr season counted. Others stated that they take into account the play-offs. And, others stated that the first round would matter. Obviously, I was proven right here. Factually. The awards are based on Regular season performance (barring Conn Smythe). Period.

Please. Ovechkin and Crosby were sooo good their teams were amongst the worst in the entire league, and in Crosby's case his team was supposedly 'stacked'. And, Calgary was gonna do good no matter what this year. Bottom line is a rookie is one of the top 3 goalies; he shou;d be automatically one of the top 3 rookies... unless of course goalies this year all had GAA of 5.oo, and S% of .750... which they din't so it's moot. Espicially, since their high point totals ( fot the forwrads) are artififically higher due to rule chnages to make scoring easily making it harder for a goalie.. espically a cookie goalie.. to do good... This is an asanine way to do things... Anyways, this list should prove that post season isn't taken into account for regular season awards. If it was, Brodeur would be in, and Lundqvist would be out. And, 2 of the moronic rookies wouldn't even be nominated since they suck so bad they couldn't even make the play offs. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!
-
Replay time should count when talking about 'value for money base don time played'.
-
More proof that the NHl is just plain old fashion stupid. I find it hard to believe that one cna be cosnidered one of the top 3 goalies in the NHl this year; but not be one of the top 3 rookies. It's absolutely ludicrous!
-
"Because there are that many awesome rookies this year?" But, not goalies? Right...
-
"Regardless, we've already had our official answer here. The lead designer has already said it's too early to properly assess the length at this point." Bingo. You win. " Eldar & Grom: That's all good except in this case, you got an answer. Mr. Sawyer gave you an answer. Why don't you just accept it? That's what the problem is currently.
