Congrats Oiler fans! "4 unanswered goals in the third. Four!!!!" No.
  4. Found this on the REAL NWN2 boards.. link to IGN and the "first" NWN2 videos. Good stuff 99%, and 1% bad. Totally sweet. :"> http://pc.ign.com/articles/704/704146p1.html Repost from The Evil Ones Board tm. : Good stuff. ye all should have showed the really huge creatures like a dragon so we can see the size difference in comparison to NWN1 large creatures. The UI looks about the same as NWN with some differences so that's cool. I noticed soemthing in the upper left corner that i couldn't tell what it was though (too dark). Targeting spell icon thingy is cool. I'm not the biggest fan of controlling henchmen like others are; but if youa re gonna do it do it right, I say and it seems thou hast! The videos were really dark though so it wans't 100% as clear as I'd like.
  5. "Volourn, that's like saying no one is forcing you to use some Uber Sword of Unbalancing you find in the game, decent character builds, or health potions if they make the game too easy. Outside of difficulty setting choices, it's the developers job to keep things from being too easy for the player." Queue doesn't really make the game any easier unlike an overpowered weapon or too many heal potions. There's no need (and no reason) to queue 2-3 rounds ahead. Afterall, if you are say catsing magic missle at a fellow wizard and you notice the first magic missle is blcoked harmlessly (ie. enemy has shield up) you'll have to cancel your queue anyways (or waste your spells to no avail). So, like I said, it gives no advantage in the game. It just makes the gameplay smoother so you don't have to wait until the next round to choose your next move - you are alreayd ready. In fact, it makes it closer to tb combat this way. It's no different than in tb combat when you already have an idea what spell/skill you will use in the enxt round. Example: You see a dragon. As a caster what would you do? Buff yourself (short term one(s) since you should alreayd have long term ones than your best offensive ones. As a wizard: You'll liekly go this: 1. Haste 2. Fire shield 2. Best offensive spells Unless you get injured and need to heal (or run), you alreayd know what your character is going to do. This is ture no matter the game style. An exmaple of this is TOEE or Fo (both tb games) where I mostly knew what i was gonna do 3 turns away (if not further). it doesn't take genius to figure this out. Of course, don't qeue too far or you simply have to cancel it and start anew. No big worries. Thinsg change in combat all the time.
  6. And, tb doesn't? Weird... Besdies, no one is forcing you to use them if you don't want to so what's the beef?
  7. Nonsense. They're absolutely awesome. And, i never felt out of the game. In fact, I felt in the game, and didn't have the need to be a rush. I could plan future actions much like a full fledge tb games and still have time to abored qeued actions if the situation changed... No killable children in NWN2? Weird... Espicially since it was/is possible to kill children in NWN1...
  8. "AI overall is apparently quite improved too." Lets' hope. I think NWN's AI is underrated (espicially in comapring to other games *cough* BG and cloudkill *cough*). "thought NWN capped at 4 actions in the action queue." Nope. Unlimited. Virtually anyways. I can stack so many actions in a row that they don't even show on the screen in the queue. Best way to test this is grab tons of potions and start drinking them real quick... Or spam spells or magic items...
  9. I've been at both ends - the bum and the payer. Though, I ahven't been to a hospital in years so (as a kiddie) irrelevant in that case. As long as taxes remain reasoanble no biggy. Of course, our health care ha smuch bigger problems than taxees.. like, the fact, it's quality isn't too impressive. There's a reason why those Kanadians with actual money rush to the US to get treatement.

Then even better: It's a dumb rule. Not like it's not the first dumb rule ever in the NHL! R00fles!
  11. As Kafatn mentioned, it should play pretty much like NWN with of cours esome twinks. Remember, I don't think you are *forced* to control the npcs. I *think* they have AI options too. "youll be able to stack up to three actions per party member when paused." This sin't that impressive. Afterall, in NWN1, you could stack unlimited actions for your PC for all eternity if you so wished...

"Seems as though all bets are off on trips if the puck gets touched first." Huh? As far as I'm concerned if you stick your stick inbetween someone's legs and they fall down (not counting obvious dives which should be ignored); it should be auto penalty even if you tocuhed the puck first.
  14. Looks great! Better than brown poo at least!!! Anyone who thinks brown poo looked good 4 years in a certain game are someone's opinion who doesn't wash now. The buildings look cool. The characters look nice. Except the ogre. Not impressed much with him.
  15. "It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long." I say it wans't long enough. The return trip with King, and the NY scenes at the conclusion coulda been longer. The writing was good overall; but I agree with you on this: "For example, at lesat three times the captain saves Jack Black's film crew, even though he has stated that he doesn't care if they live or die." "The love story between Naomi Watts and the Piano guy is ... confused ... when she seems to be directed to "love" Kong, as well" Eh? 1. You never heard of loving more than one person (well, in Kong's case, beast?) 2. Just because she cares about Kong doens't mean she loves him in the 'I wanna have sex with you way' either. I'm not like you. I actually cared for the characters for the most part. In fact, i didn't feel Kong was all that sympathetic of a character until he got to New York. Before than, he was just another monster with a fetish (for the girl).

Nothing wrong with diving. It's not worse than players scoring with their skates and prteending that it was actually their stick or it was by 'accident'. R00fles! My opinion is there wouldn't be a problem with diving if players didn't try to trip, crosscheck, and all sorts of other nasty things.
  17. "What were the different options with Firkraag?" Kill him, join him, join him then betray. He actually counter offers you to go kill the ones who sent you after him. "I am always focused on plot." Well.. in that case, then yeah, there's very little (if any) non linearity in BG1, and much less in BG2 (not counting TOB)...
  18. "I'm not someone that considers the option to do side quests as non-linearity." How 'bout the fact that in many of those side quests, there are different ways to complete them. Not s true in BG1 as it is in BG2. Also, how you interact with the joinables is also an example of non linearty - characters leaving or not leaving your party. Again, BG1 has non linearty; but it is weak comapritvely speaking. The thing the BG series (except TOB) is lacking non linearty wise is different endings or chocies that really effect the dming (ie. BG1 *always* ends with you killing Sarevok in the old temple and BG2 sans TOB always ends with Irenicus' death in Hell). BG1 EXample: The choice on how tod eal with the Minsc-Dynahier-Mage Whose Name is Slipping scenario. BG2 Eaxmple - Firkragg quest.
  19. "How is BG, or IWD for that matter, a non-linear game?" IWD certainly is 99.9% linear. However, BG has non linearty to it to a lesser degree than say FO; but it certainly is there. BG2 also takes this a step further. And, yes, anyone who thinks the only 'non linear' step in the Bg games 'is choosing a race or hair colour or some other anal thing' are blind beyond belief.. or didn't even play the games.
  20. Of course, which would happen magically on the day of release of whatever game he is waiting (beit the fabled KOTOR3, or ME which ever comes first).
  21. Just like to point out Eldar's 'rant' versus SP in the last page automatically makes him a winner. Listing your pnp credendtials is plain old fashion boring. Not to mention utterly unimpressive, and menaingless on a message board full of D&D geeks specifially, and role-playing geeklings generally. P.S. PST is a role-playing game with some good choices during it. It's just the ending and the silly amnesia that i dislike about it.
  22. The Cave - Better than i expected it to be though thw twist ending was not a stwisty as they thought it be. A good 'ol fashion adventure story. King Kong - Better than the original. With ease. No contest. The only thing the original wins in is the simple fact it is the original. LOL Otherwise, the newest version has better action, drama, music, monsters, writing, and the list goes on. Actually, one thing the original did do better was that the Island Natives were simply boring in this one.
  23. "As an old school PnP player most of my character definition takes place in my imagination. When I'm playing something like IWD I consider the character background, personality etc. Plus the events thus far before clicking an option." All of that 'role-playing' you do in your ehad for IWD means nothing. Why? The game doesn't react to the fact that your chaotic elf has lost his sister and he is an his girlfriend who happens to be a half dwarf-half drow have gone to the IWD region to find. None of this means nothing if the game does not react to it. In pnp, when you make up a background or eprsonality it matters because any DM worth their spaghetti will make sure it matters. A pre scripted game like IWD (or FO, or BG, etc.) can't so what youa re doing is not role-playing. You best write a book about it with your imagination 'cause it means nothing in game.
  24. And, you'd still buy it on the day of release!!!
  25. "If anyone went "off topic," it was you, as we weren't interested in whether or not you were planning on buying the game." Nonsense. Kas used Oblivion to illustatre a point he wa smaking. I repsonded that I couldn't answer that ebcause I have not played yet. Read next time. Thank you.
