Hm, the shiny armor pic on that page is still a bit too reflective in a few spots for my tastes, but I do like the overall texture/design of the armor a fair bit.
-
Tried taking the boots off etc, still no option to mention them. I'll try a 2nd item.

Btw, re: the lockpick quest ... do I need to get all of Largo's clothes back? I thought I only had to get one of them...I got the boots, but the blacksmith dude still won't "believe" me and I can't get a lockpick.

The thing about the screens Hurl posted is that I've started to dislike all the super-shiny effects. It looks sterile and cold or something - the lighting of it doesn't look real to me at all in most cases. Like the difference between glossy and matte photographs....I tend to prefer matte. And to my eyes, the only difference in chr. model between the 1st and the 2nd is haircut and armor (chunky ribbed grey armor vs. delicate more revealing clothing). Both female's body/outline and pose/posture outline, for example, pretty much look the same, except one has a bigger chest and paler skin.

All I've bought are Sneak back in the tutorial, some striped pants, a bandana, a pickaxe, and a cheap ring. Tried to drink some big dude under the table but failed because I couldn't hold onto a bottle or something, so I lost 50g and now he wants 500g to try it again. I sell most of the flowers I pick (are they useful later or something?) and all of that, but even w/exploring around, killing all the crabs and looting 10g chests .... I'm so poor. The pirates by the river having an F word argument was funny. I'm at the lighthouse now.

Ah....makes me think of my dream of one day having an entire large room devoted as a library, with lots o shelves and a small lounge chair. Right now most of mine are in boxes in a closet.

I like the notion of it not being one big land mass, like most games. That gets old too, so even if it does limit exploration a bit it's still maybe a change of pace, as long as each island doesn't feel like a complete duplicate of the others. The one thing I read in a review that disappointed me was that the sailing is never you on the ship - essentially just loading screens. Not very pirate-like. Feeling better for the moment, might dive in a bit again.

I found GW1 generic even when it was new, but I still found it fun. Generic doesn't always = boring, if one likes the gameplay and all of that stuff. I don't know about the anime either. Outside of that one screenie up there, I don't think it looks like anime at all. Whether GW2 is a fun/good ARPG/MMO game I reserve judgement on since I haven't played it.

Thanks, Sisay, good to know. On a humorous note: omg this had me rofl.

Meshugger gets +10000 for posting that one. Awesome sauce, loved it.

Yeah, it's what made it feel different, outside of being non-subscription fee, of course. Sounds more like WoW/others then, these days, then the original. I don't mean gameplay/style similarity, to be clear...I have no idea on that at all...just mean the MMO mechanics. But at least no monthly fee, so that's still a plus.

I don't think it's real open beta, is it? eg, if you didn't sign in for beta long ago you can't get into this? From what I'm reading they were having similar server issues as D3 - too much load for many. Not a bad thing, typical of popular betas. Is it still going to be the same as GW1 where if you wanted to play solo much of the time, you could - with AI companions and such?
-
I take it you mean all the way thru the 1st island and the game isn't that short. I know what you mean tho....companions usually make combat easy in one way or another. Since I tend to be terrible at combat in these games tho, I like having one around when I can. Plus I'm lazy these days...I like exploring more than combat. More relaxing. heheh
-
Since I'm probably not going to play much for the next day or so, could any of you tell me if you ever get another companion besides Patty? Or is she it? I mean, I like her and all, but variety is always nice.

Meh, tired of sleeping/napping. Still feel pretty oogy but time to do some things before taking another nap. No fever at least.
-
Does she leave you as per script or did you just make her mad?
-
Feel nauseous/headachey, went to bed early. Gaming put on hold. Felt like this a couple days ago too, but it went away in a few hours/assumed it food related. Woke up an hour ago and nausea etc. came right back. Heh. Back to bed.

I seem to have lost my quickbar on-screen graphic. It worked for a while then I exited and when I restarted, it was gone. Hotkeys still work but I can't see the bar. On Normal difficulty now, doesn't seem much harder. Beasts aren't a problem, but humans are a bit. Any clue on what might be a good way to go skills wise? I was thinking firearms and cunning, since I like the notion of having a Silver Tongue.

All I've found so far is a dirty shirt.

I am such a dummy. Concentrating so hard on Fraping and figuring other game things I forgot all about putting/using provisions in the quickbar thingie. I'm sure that would've helped, lol. Blocking I'm still trying to get the hang of - the "feel" of combat still just feels awkward motion-wise. At least Patty's a big help. Past all the initial yakkity yak and starting to explore now. Definitely a nice aspect of the game, as mentioned. Lovely to walk around picking clams and flowers. I like the background music too.

Do you get any reward for beating him? I fought him a couple times, and both times as he stood over my beaten, bloody body he told me he was "impressed." Still, I left him alone and got on the boat to leave the island. Did I miss anything?

I may suck at swordsmanship... But at least I'm a studly stud.

Hope she gets/feel better soon, Tale. I haven't had time to play Risen2 much yet. Was planning on some (silent) Let's play footage, but it's a pain to play, record, exit, crunch video, upload, repeat all the time. Don't know if I'll keep that up for long. Gotta run some errands before I can settle in for a weekend of gaming again. woot. Seem to be in more of a gaming mood again.

Looking at my video, I guess it was 3 l-clicks for a combo of some kind. Still can't seem to do it on purpose. Don't get it. Oh well, I'll figure it out. I wish the auto-save had a limit of 5-8 save slots or something. It saves so often the amount of save files you have to sift through/delete becomes annoying.
-
I have a dumdum question. How to do attacks outside of just flailing away with the l-clicky mouse? One time I saw a help icon that indicated r-click+r-click=some kind of move (I think) but I haven't been able to duplicate it. (oops I mean opposite, edit-corrected) The oddball camera jumping when in NPC dialogue and the foliage popping in and out (it does this a lot for me) as you wander is a bit distracting. My companion Patty got stuck on a crate first thing, while exiting the ship to the 1st island. But apparently it's like in FNV where if you go far enough away she'll eventually catch up again, so that was all right. Easy difficulty is actually easier than I expected for a Piranha game, may bump it up to normal. I'm still gonna suck at combat for a while tho. Edit: I don't like the weird, washed out browns/low contrast in some ship/wood beam house type scenes, either. It's kind of ... odd. But the outdoors looks fine.
