What?! Why are these things never held near where I live? Did you get me an autograph from M.B.? Huh? Huh? Huh? Or candid pics? Or a piece of his shirt? Or .... sigh.

What you did today
Could the shoulder/chest be posture/sleep related? Pinched nerve? I'm glad it doesn't seem to be the heart, tho. Hope it's figured out/gets better. Today I started to think I have a ghost in the house. The vertical blinds on the sliding glass door haven't stopped moving all morning. Seriously. They're in the "shut" position but keep riffling back and forth just a bit, like those metal ball "endless motion" clackers. Normally, could be the cat...but it's been hours. So either they're stuck in perpetual motion, or it's a ghost!

What's on the idiot box...
Watched a few of the Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett (1980's). I've known of it, just never got around to watching it. (if I had seen some before, it was years and years ago and I don't remember...) Mixed feelings...on the one hand, it's fairly faithful to the stories. On the other hand ... it feels a bit dull. Not the fault of the acting, however. Holmes and Watson are great. It's just the execution of the mystery dramatization feels a bit off to me. When they switch to Sherlock's "client" POV for storytelling purposes, I feel like I'm watching History channel re-enactment segments, if that makes sense. Still....certainly one of the better Sherlock/Watson depictions.

So much post nasal drip I have to take drugs before bed to prevent chest congestion, again. Blargh. ...but I had a good afternoon out with my friend, browsing bookstores and shops and having a snack at an eatery while gabbing. No alcohol or mud wrestling was involved, but it was fun anyway. Need to figure out the local summer events and see what I can drag hubby and others to - I feel a need to do something a bit more interesting than "the usual" weekend stuff this year.- Pictures of your games part 2

I need to stop watching movies like "Ghost" at lunchtime, just "because they're on", since I then go around the rest of the day in a semi-sad state of mind. Off to a buddy's house. We're going window-shopping, maybe see a movie. Air-conditioned mall, baby.- Haswell Countdown
The motherboard could also fry (or connectors break, or whatever), meaning you'd have to replace a potentially still-working CPU, not just the motherboard. Not something that happens to many people I suppose, but it's still annoying to me that if one thing goes, you'd have to replace the whole "unit." I don't think that makes sense at all ... unless the "unit" ends up being cheaper than buying those things separately has been, so you no longer care too much that you're paying for some aspect that isn't actually broken. But then, I'm still annoyed by how difficult it's become to just replace a part in anything vs. buying a whole new "unit." Disposable and more disposable.- Pictures of your games part 2
For some reason, in many of those otherwise interesting Defiance shots, my eyes keep gravitating towards the ponytail sticking out of the baseball cap.- The funny things thread

Using Netflix to watch the 1st season of Law and Order. I'm not sure I've ever seen those, doesn't seem familiar. I've only seen the Law and Orders in reruns/syndication so the 1st couple season aren't something they play much anymore...kinda interesting. Michael Moriarty is rather awesome. As usual I struggled to remember what else he was in and then remembered Pale Rider, one of my fave 80's Eastwood movies. Heh. It ended up being too slow for me, but what I watched, definitely had some moments. It's possible a 2nd season (which I think is forthcoming) could improve it.- Haswell Countdown
It doesn't sound like anything I'd be excited about, in terms of price vs. (desktop) performance. Really? That would ... suck ... so I'll hope it's a rumor that proves unfounded. Not that I often drop-in upgrade CPU's anyway (vs. just building a completely new rig), but that's not the point. If it seems like that's the way it's going to go, I may build a new rig sooner than I thought I would. And buy a garage full of spare parts.- What you did today
Errands...the morning warmed up quickly, making the black interior of my ride a sweat-sauna. Then arrived home to a rather warm home interior, and thus I'm now lounging around in an air conditioned room in my underwear. I love electricity. Time for another Netflix binge before the evening rounds.- What are you playing now?
But are the inside of homes still gritty brown? I mean, I understand the outdoors being a certain way on Mars. But inside a house, one could paint the walls blue or magenta or toad green and light it up with neon and strobes and turn it into a colorful disco if they wanted, right? ...I must admit, I'm tired of the sepia (and/or blue) overtones to so many things. Not that it's a new thing, they've done it for years. But sometimes I'd rather they use "natural" colors instead of trying to force a mood with some color tone saturation.- black strips in game
Resolution of your monitor vs. resolution set in the game?- The Kickstarter Thread
There's a site for fundraiser/charity/fund-my-life stuff already. It's called GoFundMe. Not that I really care too much if the occasional fundraiser/life project makes it on Kickstarter (since I can just ignore them if I want). But as time goes on and they gain in popularity/audience, it does seem like KS needs to do a bit better job at screening and maybe pointing project applicants to these other sites for projects that skirt such lines. Or else change their rules/stated stance on such. Either way.- What you did today
Chopped my hair again. And I do mean chopped. As in, unprofessionally, unevenly spiky in all the wrong ways like some deranged person. Weather turns warm and I just can't stand long hair anymore. Not to mention those hair-whorls. Still haven't tried totally shaving it yet, tho.- What you did today
Ron White is awesome. That's it.- Movies You've Seen Recently
Forgot to add: I finally made myself watch the 2nd Sherlock movie (Game of Shadows). The first one was at least ok, but the sequel...yikes. The guy playing Moriarty was all right, but I mean come on ... the movie ... even allowing for creative differences/a new age of movie-making etc., that's not even close to Sherlock. I didn't even like it as an action movie. Ludicrous.- The Omni
That would be pretty awkward in a living room. Running sideways, that is. Btw, I do like the size of the unit. At least it's not a ginormous footprint like an average treadmill. Not all of us have big houses with big rooms. Still, having to have two of them for local co-op would start to feel a bit cumbersome. I guess you could put them in different rooms but it's still a large piece of furniture for something that pretty much is only designed for games. Plus, my cat would freak out.- What you did today
Hm, maybe it's time to try to adjust monitor colors more to my preferences. At least I can adjust by one "point' at a time. Six colors too, with hue/saturation levels for each color! ...nope, too red. ...nope, too green. ...too yellow. ...red is good, too much green, not enough blue/cyan ...nope, nope, nope *fingers fall off* ...why am I so darn picky? "Screw it, they'll never get it exactly right for my eyes, not like it matters what news photos, avatars or game screenshots people post look like." **sour grapes**- What you did today
I miss the days when it seemed like there were local "computer/electronic conventions" every weekend. I know you still have (bigger, big-name, oft expensive) conventions in the big cities at certain times, but I don't mean those. Smaller, local ones. I liked walking around, checking things out, rifling through software, listening to local small business pitch people. Maybe there are still some around, but it's not the same. Today, after doing some typical Sat. morning things, I ate some lunch while ogling Scott M. from HGTV's "Income Property" (honestly, what other reason is there to watch that show outside of Scott? ) and am now considering a bit more yard work. The scraggly blackberry bush on the side of the house is getting a bit out of control this year. Trimming the top requires a ladder now, tho. Hm.- Community Photo Sharing Thread
Probably the pic angle and wide angle lens. It's in there fine. Hm. Well I like my jerky pretty dry, actually. Moistness isn't my thing. Most jerky I buy I'll put in a bowl to let it air dry even further because it's still too moist. This stuff I bought has very thick slices and it's cut so you can't just tear a piece off...you're rather pulling bits off like string cheese, which is awesome. Mahogany has something they call Indian Jerky - long thin strips that kinda look like what's in one of the biltong pics, tho I'm sure the process/spices makes it not taste the same. A lot of jerky in the US isn't actually my thing...not into super sweet jerky for example. But I have a feeling I'd prefer the smoked vs. just air dried. Not that I wouldn't be willing to try it. And I definitely am a beef person. Tried buffalo jerky once (which was made the same way as the company's beef jerky). It was ok, but I could tell it wasn't beef, and I didn't much like it. P.S. I've done "beef jerky" in the oven, where it's marinated then just dried at super low temps vs. in an actual smoker. It was ok, but...not the same.- Movies You've Seen Recently
There was a 2000 Gatsby? Never saw that one. The Redford one has plenty of faults too, but I still liked it. I saw some low budget thriller/horror with Val Kilmer last night, called the The Traveler. For the type of film it is, it started off almost promisingly, but then devolved rapidly into a groan-inducing predictable cliche fest. And Val Kilmer's performance was making me giggle...not that he had much to do, really. The best thing about the film was looking at this one chr. for the whole movie, thinking "who is that guy? I know that guy." ... turns out it was the doctor from Stargate Atlantis. - What you did today
