I'm looking forward to the Smaug parts. But that's about it. I think I just would have liked The Hobbit more if they'd kept it to two movies like originally planned/envisioned instead of making it another trilogy.

I am supposedly South Korean, since that's where I was found and adopted from. But since I was abandoned at age of 2 or so, I have no information other than that. I could be some kind of Asian mixture for all I know. Not that I think they actually got it wrong. Just never know. heh Upbringing and mentality wise, I'm in the lower range middle-class "white" American, I suppose. It's interesting growing up that way tho. When I was growing up people were always asking me if I felt a sense of loss of self-identity or something. Not knowing one's roots/wanting to find my roots and all of that. Can't say that I have, since I was just a wee kid and my adoptive family/country is all I know. But it does cause occasional discomfort/misunderstanding/humor from people assuming I have a different culture perspective, based on my physical appearance alone.

T-shirt information
LadyCrimson replied to agris's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I admit I have no clue about commissioning bulk orders of slogan t-shirts. I was assuming that perhaps one is not always initially told what specific brand the t-shirts are made with (Hanes, for example). Mostly tho it was my attempt at being humorous re: clothing industries "one number fits all" mentality. Guess it fell flat. Being a 4' 11" tall female who is also not tiny-boned or narrow shouldered, I am quite sympathetic to being hard to fit, only in the opposite direction. -
It's like a sci-fi scene on Mars, especially with that giant crop circle behind it.

I'd guess one doesn't have to have a memorial - eg, I might just forgo it altogether. I'd rather not 'claim' the reward then put in something weaksauce because I can't think of anything I'd like. And currently about to do some errand-hopping, then dinner making, then probably couch-flopping whilst a cat licks my face and chews on my hair. Feeling unmotivated and brain-dead today. Even gaming requires too much thinking. Heh. Edit: oh what the heck...screw those errands. And the stack of paperwork and forms I've been neglecting. And the dirty laundry. I'm starting my couch-flopping now. Tomorrow, tomorrow, there's always tomorrow.

That's pretty much what I've understood, as well. They're efficient and good for smaller use or "booster" use but not for powering major metropolitan cities with millions and millions of electronics addicted people. The amount of space required would be comparatively huge...plus not just any ol' spot is "great" for placing them, causing a lot of bickering over land in areas where land is seriously becoming a premium thing. There's also the complaint of, not just view blockage, but noise. Apparently they can be very noisy if you live anywhere near them. ..as to the flying animal splatter - to me that's not terribly relevant, since many many more of those die from the current set up of powerlines and other such things, as well as pets, pesticides, even just from flying into buildings (birds aren't always very bright, y'know) etc. Wind turbine loss of such animals is pretty minor compared to the total from everything else. More wind farms would increase those numbers of course, but using it as a protest against wind power doesn't seem like a strong argument in most cases. Not that I'm saying it's cool or anything, just that in the scheme of things, so far it's pretty minor numbers-wise.

Oh they're fine for soloing. They're just not fast. No "I do 26k crits all the time!" bragging rights. I'm lucky if I get 9000-12000 crits with encounters. On the plus side, I haven't had to use a potion mid-combat for months, even against solo dungeon bosses. All the ones I pick up just get sold. I don't group tho, so I'm always geared for solo. If I was running pure group-healer trees/configs I'm sure it'd be tougher.

Yeah, it's not that it's dangerous, it's just a matter of speed. Most DC's aren't built to take things down in 1-2 hits. The longer one takes, the more damage (even if it's not dangerous) one takes. I've tried a couple of the more dps-skills but they don't cycle well for me with others, for solo play. The difference between my TR's speed/time at taking out a group of trash mobs, for example, using nothing but his At-Wills and my DC's speed at taking something out using just At-Wills is ... pretty extreme. And it follows all down the line.

I still haven't decided on a memorial slogan. Of course, that could be partly because I haven't spent a ton of time thinking about it after the initial day. Serious or silly...that's what I can't decide. If I had been able to create an NPC I'd probably have created a talking cat, to ensure there would be at least one cat in the game, which Obsidian would then have likely laughed at and written to politely ask me to make a real NPC.

Yeah, Shadowmantle seems a better designed module, although I find if the instance is busy, it's more of a personal annoyance to me than in Sharandar. And I don't like the AD cost for running solo dungeons on their non-daily available day. Side note: It's been a long time since I've had any trouble/fear of death while killing things w/my main DC, but DC's aren't exactly major dps classes. But since since I've been using the Rust Monster companion, I've noticed the speed things go down has increased and the damage I take has gone down. Don't even need to self-heal in combat most of the time anymore. That active bonus they have (procs often) + their combat skill I assume. Altho I guess the DC's armor penetration finally works too - but I don't have too much of that. I'm becoming a big believer in deflect, as well. And I love those Artifacts.

T-shirt information
LadyCrimson replied to agris's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I figured it was the generalized t-shirt sizing for the generalized male population from some generalized t-shirt slogan company. eg, I'm not sure Obsidian has immediate knowledge of what behind-the-scenes manufacturing company provides the t-shirt/slogan maker with their blank-slate shirts. Course, I could be wrong. -
*login to bank site* Get forced-view page - "Go Green! Turn off paper statements! Yes/No?" *Press No* (repeat once or twice every month for a year or more) *login to bank site* "Congrats! We've switched you to paperless statements! Click here to view them!" *find the tiny print link to "change back" and do that* (repeat once a year or so) Dear Bank: I appreciate that if my house burns down you'll still have many records of my financial habits for me to refer to (unlike the old days). But I still want paper, too. So all those times I press "NO?" Should give you a clue. Stop changing my preferences without my explicit permission. If you want to save stamp-money for your bottom line, stop sending me junk mail offers instead. Thanks.

Oh is that out now? I won't see it in the theater but I suppose my usual "I saw the first one" means I'll see it when it's on PPV. I didn't like the first one much tho. It wasn't bad, exactly - just boring. Sometimes magic can't be done twice.

Kickstart Backer Badge
LadyCrimson replied to Gfted1's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If on Firefox - AdblockPlus, r-click on offending images, pick block image, click/use settings you want. Gone. If not on Firefox - er, dunno. A similar sort of browser addon or program. -
3rd episode of 'Almost Human' - plot pretty mundane/predictable, but the bits where Urban's chr. was "MyGyvering" Ealy's android chr. made me laugh. Yup, it's official - I'll watch this show...because of Ealy (and the humor chemistry he has with Urban).

I have no idea what's actually going on, but visually to my eye, those two ladies seem to be celebrating a little out of proportion for gaining 3 exp. points.

My first car was a tiny mid-70's blue 4 door Toyota Corolla sedan my parents bought for me for $600. The paint was still ok and it got good gas mileage. We had a lot of fun cruising to the beach and in the hills with the little thing. ...until some idiot crashed into the driver's side while making a left turn across 3 lanes of traffic, six months later.

I like it and I don't think it clashes with the painted backgrounds at all. I'd agree that perhaps they could reduce the number of ripples just a tad.

I'm very much an advocate for creator's rights over their content, whether they want to hold it close to their vest or let everyone have it for free. That said, copyright laws are outdated/haven't kept up with the technological changes to modern lifestyle and need some changes. The notion that reviewers on YouTube, for example, can't even use bits of a game that contain the game music or show the ending (after a game's been released, at least) or whatever, during their review, is a bit ridiculous. Although my impression is much of the time it's less that such use is not ever allowed and more that YouTube's auto-flagging software is over-zealous and can't differentiate between such uses and actual "pirating" use (by the copyright holder definitions that YT has to enforce). Which causes reviewers/Let's Players etc. grief in form of delays and processing hassle. I haven't liked the direction YouTube has been going in for years, personally, way before any of this stuff. Much of it user-privacy and option related. But a lot of those aspects isn't specific to YouTube, really. It's the whole internet. Also, I agree with Enoch. Especially the part I bolded.

New Kickstarter incoming
LadyCrimson replied to C2B's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If it's a game within a genre/topic that I'm personally interested in, I'd be all in. Not like there are any other games of late that I have any interest in/spend money on. With over a year since P.E.'s Kickstarter, I can justify tossing more cash towards my fave game company. Maybe not quite as much as I did for P.E., but some. Obviously if it's a game that would interest me not at all, like a platformer viewpoint adventure game, then ... probably not. -
Sarah was definitely a "meh" character most of the time. I didn't hate her but she and Gil had zero screen-chemistry together. Heather was interesting but I preferred Gil sticking to his bugs/sleuthing and studies. To me that was what was interesting about him. Not who he romanced. Yeah I'm not much of a romantic for crime shows.

True, and especially after the first or second season (Miami and NY were utterly terrible in that regard from the get go) ... but Gil Grissom is still the man.
