  1. Since I wasn't here, I'll say it now: regardless of how I end up feeling about the final game, the excitement rush that the trailers instill within me when I watch them is almost, by itself, worth the money I spent. Which makes me feel like a junkie or something.
  2. Entered into the cold and snow in already-bad condition. Spent 30 seconds of walking towards a wooden lookout post, attacked from behind by an ugly wolf. Hit it in the nose and it fled. Scrounged can of beans from the lookout post. Tried to bandage myself to stop bleeding then walked up the only visible open path, complaining about how I cold I was as I trudged through the snow at what felt like sleep-slomo-run speed. Died at top of hill some seconds later, apparently from injury effects and freezing. Total real life time: about 4-5 minutes. 8/10 would buy again.
  3. Yeah...I've noticed it on others before too. I often wonder what Steam uses as a sale barometer. Time? Popularity? Sales figures? Who knows. The game seems to use wolves instead of zombies. Which is fine, as long as they're not as numerous as zombies.
  4. I'm tempted by the sale price of early-access the Long Dark. Mostly because, survival, explore, no zombies.
  5. Morrowind (and that engine) had troubles with the 3D elements still being drawn below your sightline. So an area that looks sorta empty is really still drawing tons of stuff (acres of tree roots for example). At least it seemed that way. I don't recall having mouse/kb lag issues even way back when, but the game could get laggy at times.
  6. Gold coin weight is why I'm glad we live in the era of digital money. Even stacks of paper money are very heavy in large amounts. I've never minded some weight/space limitations and I think some games should have/need such, but not because it's ever realistic. The idea that an adventurer could run around with even 2 changes of armor + 1-2 extra shields, clothes, and several weapons + food + camping supplies + money isn't realistic and just ends up hampering the pace of gameplay if it's too strict in-game. It's not just the pure weight value, it's the logistics of the awkwardness of carrying multiple bulky items without dragging a wheeled cart behind you. If one likes the micro-management of having to consider the .5 weight of a coin or apple, that's great - I like micro-management stuff too sometimes - but it's not really about realism.
  7. Fired up Lords of the Realm 2 on the laptop to see how it ran/felt to play it on the thing. As it was past 2am at the time, didn't plan to play it long. Next thing it was 6am. Turn based RTS ... sometimes I miss it. I'd forgotten how difficult the addon campaign was (vs. the original set of levels). Mostly because I think the AI cheats a ton more, but it does make it more difficult to conquer them quickly. Even the original campaign however, where the AI isn't as cheat-y, I recall some of the later maps taking long hours. I had a tendency to turtle in a bit, tho, which was likely part of it.
  8. Previous topic incarnation This morning I tried to watch "Hours" while eating breakfast. It's kind of an interesting start, with some mild tension. But then I finished my breakfast and turned it off. The omniscient Netflix tells me I'd probably rate it 4.5 stars tho, so maybe I'll try to finish it later. Maybe.
  9. Last thread Last page of previous thread On with the show! The debate/s continue...
  10. Pesky post limit rearing its head again.
  11. I feel like Supernatural is trying to finish up a lot of loose stuff and giving everyone some kind of potential closure outs. Maybe in case there isn't a ssn 11? Too bad I got into it so late...I'd like more seasons, although I'd be ok if there isn't any. It's been on a long time and maybe the stories should be over. I have my dvd's. Also:
  12. Black or charcoal grey are my two fave colors for cars. That's a pretty auto.
  13. Riots, looting, and violence that harm people or businesses having nothing to do with the percieved problem/insult is never justified. Protest, rally, and sit on the courthouse steps or something all you want - which may involve some authority confrontations, yes - but trying to get things changed by frightening/harming the common people - I don't agree with that. As to the verdict ... I'm not well read up on it enough to make a judgement. I think there are too many cases like this that may be ... unfair ... and/or to the outside observor seem to form a disagreeable pattern, but not sure if this case was truly one of those or if it was just high profile enough to cause inflammation over the potential pattern itself, if that makes sense.
  14. I don't hear Inception horns. I guess the timing of the bass beats is Inception-like, but using deep notes as punctuation is nothing new. (edit: to me is sounds like distorted blue whale, lol) The trailer doesn't make me excited, either. The graphics will be better, but I'm not sure I like the notion of an actual full park (lots of extras). Looks a bit "colder" and less humanized, if that makes sense. The idea of it being Sea-World like is kind of amusing, however. Although, that dino that leaps out to eat the shark is a prime example of why I still don't like CGI monsters very much. Could be any of 1000 that have come before. Visually dull at this point.
  15. If Far Cry 3-4 had true lan co-op, I might've made an ubisoft account to try it with hubby. I think it's just online mission drop-in/drop out or something tho? @Drowsy Emp - one thing I don't really like about War for the Overworld is the super-dark color palette they're using. I get it's a dungeon, but it's so dark. And muddy. Kinda hard on my old eyes.
  16. Does anyone else feel like they get browser-lag when loading YouTube-embed heavy pages? It kinda drives me nuts. I don't know if that's one of those SSD>HDD things, a Firefox issue, forum/YT scripting issue, just me, etc.
  17. In my brief foray into the backer beta, I felt like they ran too slow. But I'm impatient these days. I just ground-click in small distance increments to keep them from moving too far forward when that's a concern.

  19. I had coffee flavored creamy yogurt, beef/rice w/slices of tomato, and a half a banana. My cat had some crunchy dairy-flavor nuggets with a a little fluffy whip cream on top.
  20. Are you wearing a stillsuit?
  21. This will mean nothing if you haven't watched Supernatural. But I can't stop smiling every time I see it.
  22. Cat Dog wtf?
  23. I still can't justify building a new rig. I wouldn't mind a gtx 970 or whatever, tho. I should probably get one of those soonish. But I have a feeling I'm going to remain pretty "meh, no thanx" re: high-requirement AAA titles for quite a while longer. The past couple weeks I've felt like I can't drink enough water/stay hydrated. Multiple glasses all day of course, even drink a huge glass of water before bed and still wake up feeling like sand. Maybe it's winter.
  24. Not playing, but I took another look at the progress of War for the Overworld. It almost looks like a game, now. A little too much DK2 influence (vs. mixing DK1 and 2 a bit more maybe) for my tastes re: the likely campaign format, but still looks kinda nice. The one video I watched that showed the available campaign map (probably the 1st, tutorial one) wasn't too impressive, however. Especially the sound. "We burn with the glory of (someone's) favor" over and over and over...lol. Not quite ready to purchase yet...in a few months maybe. I might like the sandbox and if they have them, skirmish. Probably won't do the MP. Not sure about the "sin" stuff for getting new rooms and spells. Could be good, tho. At least they're trying something a bit different and not a direct clone in that area.
  25. Bought the Sim2000/Capitalism bundle because I used to like such games. Also, they're likely to run on my cheap laptop. So now I have 4 "new" games that .... I'm probably going to ignore and never play. But at least they're DRM free!
