  1. There was a time I might have at least tried such challenges, whether officially a 'challenge' or one people just did on their own. But these days I definitely don't have the patience. Anyone who tries it and succeeds, my hat's off...it sounds really difficult.
  2. perhaps like an alternate ww1 universe with freaking vampires in it? HA! Good Fun! I just meant that it may not be a very historically accurate version of ww1 universe, even outside of the vampires. Like when they make those periods a lot more tech advanced in some movies etc.
  3. I'd forgotten about that thread too. Closed it...only fair. My viewpoint on the whole affair is that the thread itself isn't conceptually a big deal (any more than a male version of such a thread would be, lol) but that there can be a world of difference between the "internet's" concept of PG-13 and what a company forum might consider PG-13. I have, in the past, occasionally edited past versions for such reasons. I've left it alone since I've been back, but I would personally agree with the decision to close it. *shrug*
  4. BruceVC's positive life-enthusiasm always inspires me. Sounds like a great experience. @GuardDog - I hope whatever the setback is, that a rebound/solution comes quickly.
  5. To my way of thinking, that's like hoping to cure the chicken pox by infecting yourself with the measles. ...not that I have anything against Origin/others per se. I just don't want more than Steam right now.
  6. Start of previous thread End of previous thread Last few posts repeated here: Well it's rumored that Movie Bob was let go so... Which is why I'm interested. The next person that says "But what are you all so afraid of?! There is no censorship!!!" Look at what can and has happened. Which is why I'm interested. The next person that says "But what are you all so afraid of?! There is no censorship!!!" Look at what can and has happened. You should be, the American comics industry took a huge hit from the CCA and the only survivors were the large publishers who could afford not selling the popular sci-fi and horror comics. Nowadays American comics struggle to sell 40,000 copies per monthly issue, have high prices for little content(which is why pirating them has become so rampant), and are just now able to produce commercially viable comics that aren't superhero books. Imagine something like this happening to videogames and the picture is not very pretty. The funny thing is that the arguments of Fredric Wertham(whose hitpiece book Seduction of the Innocent is what contributed greatly to the moral panic preceding the CCA) resemble those of certain commentators on videogames, such as that they influence the attitudes of young people who play them and make them more violent. http://news.illinois.edu/news/13/0211comics_CarolTilley.html The above link goes over how he misused the data gathered to construct his arguments. It should look familiar as there is also no scientific evidence of videogames affecting behavior yet some still insist it does.
  7. ...again? Already? Here we go.
  8. Everyday is a new day, unless you have a time machine, then every day can be an old day. Or something. Sadly, I don't have one of those. I was tired, so I went out in the yard and did some early weeding. it's a fairly nice day, if you're physically doing something and not just sitting in the shade. But it didn't help my tired-ness, so I think now it's time for that old-fart nap.
  9. Still 7 Days to Die. Some days I don't play at all, other days I start it up and can't stop for bloody hours. Waiting for the new Alpha version (maybe end of this month, maybe March), which looks to have some nice improvements, graphically and with stuff like weapon attachments (flashlights on weapons), new POI like random cave generation and zombies/enemies being able to chase you at least a little bit underground again if there's a hole (not sure how that works yet). It's finally an Early Access game where I actually kinda get excited for each major Alpha release. I really like these guys, despite their funny-silly name (The Fun Pimps). ...this could, essentially, be my new Dungeon Keeper. The game I return to again and again for years, even when I take long breaks.
  10. Is it supposed to be different in any way? The ad says "remastered" but not what that means...I was assuming just graphically or something, so it looks good on the PS4.
  11. I have no comments re: the game/developer, but I rather like the jacket the guy is wearing in the poster - and the fedora on the guy in the background. Also that it's apparently set in a WW1 period vs. some made up dark fantasyland world or something. Not that I know how legit the setting will be. Could be an alternate WW1 universe for all I know.
  12. Every great once in a while I like some chain-fried chicken. Although in most cases, I tend to call it diarrhea chicken. It also doesn't taste the same since they started using vegie oil instead of the lard or solid Crisco or whatever it was. The oil gives it an odd flavor that doesn't taste like chicken. The best fried chicken is still that which you make yourself. I was watching some rerun of Chopped, and one of their basket ingredients was this luxury bacon from Spain or something. Claimed it was up to $200 a pound, and one judge claimed the pigs ate nothing but hazelnuts and acorns. My immediate thought was "$200 a pound? How outrageous!!" followed by "I want some!"
  13. Caught up on Galavant. The episode about the squire's hometown felt like filler, although it was nice to have some background. The other two were better ... the pirates were hilarious and Weird Al's small role made me chuckle. I was oddly slightly disappointed that they changed the musical tune for the songs, so much. Nothing wrong with that, but I was thinking they were going to use that one tune theme a lot throughout, which would have been kinda funny. The tunes in the past 3 episodes felt less comical.
  14. I'll have to play it at least some on release, even if I don't truly finish it for a long while. I like knowing/relating to what people are talking about, even more so here since I can't just totally avoid reading the PoE forums. Patching has never been a reason for me to wait to play, really. Only if I can't start the game at all, or something. Haha. Plus, this:
  15. I've been feeling very "blah" this week myself. Just want to stay curled in bed watching TV or something. I think it's the late-winter, now waiting for Spring syndrome. Could use another good rainstorm to liven me up again. That's Calif. for you...huge rainstorm once, then nothing for weeks.
  16. You're just not used to the smell etc. Woldan. It is difficult to believe the pollution there would be very high, but certainly it'd likely be more than in the out country. I do have allergies and I know if I go out to the valley's and mts. after a while my nose clears up a little (but then there's tons more tree/grass/mold allergens, so it kinda balances out, haha), but it's not something I notice/think about day to day. There are two places I've been where the pollution was so bad I did truly notice, both when I was younger (mid-80's). Center of Los Angeles, where it felt like a cloudy day when it wasn't, and Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh was really bad, where I spent a night feeling like I couldn't breathe from lack of oxygen. Like being in a sauna for hours, only it wasn't steam. That was back before air pollution was major news, it's probably been cleaned up a tad since then. Maybe. The Bay Area isn't too bad far as that goes, some of it maybe because of a lot of afternoon winds. Still wouldn't suit you I'm sure. :D
  17. I noticed that too, and the name sounded so familiar. I guess I'm thinking of the media company, not a gaming company. Anyway, the question...I guess because for some people, while games like are patterned on "real life", they're still a fantasy. Be a criminal, be a surgeon, party all night long, buy that luxury house, shop like Donald Trump, etc. I don't care how long/hard I worked in real life, the odds of me being filthy rich are tiny. In a game, spend all your free time doing it, and you may get to pretend you're rich. Or whatever floats your boat. Not really my thing. Although I don't mind/may like if a game has a bit of that sim-y flavor here and there. But not in its entirety.
  18. omg I need this game. http://store.steampowered.com/app/343780/?snr=1_4_4__tab-Upcoming
  19. They can be pretty and occasional visits are fine, but cities make me feel like this:
  20. If not liking to visit/be in the "city" = redneck, then I'm one too. Too many people, too much traffic, too much noise. Go away.
  21. Oh god, Seagal. I remember when I saw Above the Law, and thought that was all right for a low budget action flick, so watched a few others as they came. Then Under Siege and Seagal seemed awesome for the type, a new action star. Then there was that environmental action that he directed. Alright then. He's been really downhill ever since. The guy seems a bit off, too. I do wish Neeson would get a decent TV series or something else beside Taken-mode. I mean, he's always sorta like that, the serious kick-butt guy, but at least something like Rob Roy was a grand drama format for that type of chr. If he's not careful he's going to end up like Cage ... where you see a Neeson movie for the lulz. Edit: Oh and like I said earlier somewhere, I do like Keanu now. In action movies at least. I still can't listen to his line delivery when he's trying to be non-action serious without a slight chuckle, tho. It's like he has no vocal inflection, very monotone.
  22. food in hospitals is purposeful nutritious, but none too appealing. the beds allow one to rest, but they is not particular comfortable. you is s'posed to wanna leave hospitals as soon as possible. is likely a good sign that you want something better. even so, we typical managed to sneak in burgers to our sister when she were in the hospital... we even brought her dog (a small thing that easily fit in a backpack) to see her a couple times... much to the chagrin o' the nurses. our sister weren't even a burger fan, but for some reason, she always wanted squeeze inn burgers. HA! Good Fun! The stress caused by uncomfortable hospital conditions would not be conducive to recovery from any real illness or injury. American hospitals, at least, are almost all profit-driven and owned by insurance companies; they frequently have fast food franchises in their cafeterias. It's not a matter of some ill-considered concept of "making people miserable will make them recover more quickly," it's a matter of "use the cheapest products that patients and their families will tolerate to maximize profit margins." Usually if I'm temp-super-sick/injured, I don't have much appetite anyway, either from the illness or the treatment or both. The IV in my arm helps too. By the time I'm craving a really huge steak, it's usually time to leave. But yeah, hospital food could use ... a little improvement. I don't expect gourmet, but jello in a cup isn't my thing.
