Great teaser! Valuable lesson too... don't rely on robots to rescue you if you fall into a sand trap... or to rob graves for you. You will of . -
WTF? No Infinite Ammo in AP?
GreasyDogMeat replied to lord of flies's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
You can get away with limited spraying in Mass Effect. Constant spraying is pointless and looks stupid. Even with infinite ammo you are going to be standing out in the open taking damage from enemies who actually aim while you spray the landscape with bullets. The only games that come to mind where spraying is fun are over the top action games. That is not what I'm looking for in Alpha Protocol. Really... that is like complaining about games killing you for falling too far. Its a stupid idea to leap off of the bridge... why are you complaining when the game reacts accordingly? You say that like its something new... -
Jason Bourne build
GreasyDogMeat replied to vault_overseer's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Probably why I'm not a huge fan of the Bourne movies. I'll be working on my Jack Bauer torture skillz and screaming in people's face "WHERE IS THE PLUTONIUM/NUCLEAR DEVICE/DEADLY GAS/INSERT DOOMSDAY DEVICE HERE!?" So... uh... there WILL be a torture/angry yelling stat right? We also need a 'DAMN IT' stat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7u0TBUEu_w -
I have to say, I'm actually glad I lost at least one character (Zaeed) in the final mission. It WAS supposed to be a suicide mission and it might have felt... off... if everyone survived unscathed.

Excitement rising... -
So... anyone know why God of War has received so many high scores/critical acclaim while Dante's Inferno has average reviews? Is it a case of more of the same or does God of War have better gameplay? I watched videos of the two games and they look identical as far as gameplay goes.

WTF? No Infinite Ammo in AP?

You still get that choice. It would just have a consequence: running out of ammo. Isn't that what RPGs are supposed to have? C&C? -
He tells you himself. Its kind of odd though. He goes through multiple 'seizures' until one particular one where you get to ask him what his problem is.
-
Drell remember everything with perfect clarity... so if you ask them about their past they go through a lame seizure.

Pac-Man with the Mako and Thresher Maws. Less than 10 minutes after I mention it you come up with something that sounds infinitely more fun than the resource gathering in ME2.
-
How do you get her to do it? I never saw the option...

NOBODY likes it. I don't think you can even classify it as a 'mini-game'. There is no 'game' involved. No threat of defeat, or anything. If they had somehow managed to work in some sort of actual mini-game in then it could have been fun. Maybe something like a Pac-man or centipede rip off that somehow involves resources.

How does ammo have anything to do with slamming people's faces into tables? See... that's what you do AFTER you run out of ammo. -
I didn't mind the open world, its just the constant ambushes etc. Pretty lame side quests. I absolutely love just driving around watching the heavy metal weather while listening to awesome tunes. My mom's side is Norwegian, which must explain why I like metal... and why I'm so hairy...

Only tried the demo of Left 4 Dead 2, but plan to pick it up once 1 starts wearing thin for me. As far as what I like more about Left 4 Dead 1: -Characters. Left 4 Dead 1 has Francis & Bill... nuff said. -Atmosphere. 1 seems much grittier and darker. Other than that I like the new guns and features of 2, like the shock paddles etc. I'm sure I'll enjoy 2 at some point.

I was very excited about Heavy Rain, even not having a PS3, until I watched a few vids. I'm getting the distinct impression it is just a movie with quick-time events.

Its also the only BioWare RPG that hasn't received a sequel by Bioware or otherwise. I think that speaks for itself. Sonic Chronicles doesn't exist.

I found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nGNi7SORvY...feature=related much funnier. I'll never look at those head crab zombie mumblings the same again... or the cubes. Scout advertises the Slap Chop.

The best way to watch lost. I hate those 'next on' previews. They spoil the experience. Course I've also hurt myself by not watching them as they also tell you 'Lost/24 will return in TWO weeks' then I end up tuning in next week wondering where the hell my episode was.

WTF? No Infinite Ammo in AP?
GreasyDogMeat replied to lord of flies's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Bah, I'm not an unpleasable fan. I can live with infinite ammo, I just don't like it. If it was an absolute no-no for me then I wouldn't have bought ME1 or MoH:Airborne knowing full well they had infinite ammo from reviews/demos. To me, it just feels out of place in a spy game. Watching 24 you see Jack hiding behind something, worrying about his 'last clip' before he has to use his wits to get out of the situation (or manages to finish everybody off with his uber pistol skillz). By the way, where is the article/site that says they have given the pistol limited ammo now? I haven't been following too closely. I prefer not to build up too much excitement for a game too early ahead of release. Yeah, except Jade Empire is the closest thing to a "good game" that Bioware ever came. You could actually make Closed Fist choices that were kind of good, and Open Palm choices that were kind of evil. And you could score a threesome; I don't mean that in a horndog way, it's a positive decision to model relationships that exist outside of our western bourgeois binary-sexuality-serial-monogamy bull****. OK, forget your wacky views on politics, now I know you are absolute bat **** crazy. No one in their right mind would consider Jade Empire one of BioWare's best. -
I figure when they revive Shepard they don't bother giving the scars back. Speaking of which, I wish you could perform some plastic surgery on your character during import. Sure you can modify, but it erases your imported face and you have to try and remake it from scratch, so to speak.

WTF? No Infinite Ammo in AP?
GreasyDogMeat replied to lord of flies's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I felt pretty much the same about Jade Empire, but I'm very glad I gave Bio a second chance because I enjoyed ME1, and absolutely love ME2. The combat is intense in ME2, as cover is much more important. If you stand out in the open firing away you will die. Some of the advantages of limited ammo, besides 'immersion/realism', I find myself swapping weapons much more frequently in ME2 and its more important to use a weapon for certain situations and not waste it for any situation. Another advantage is adds just a bit more tension to the battles. I can't unload a hundred rounds on an enemy position as covering fire as I'll be wasting ammo. It depends a lot on the setting too. ME1 had a decent reason for having infinite ammo. I find it harder to accept when I play a Medal of Honor game and they give you infinite ammo or a game like Alpha Protocol where you are a spy who needs to use his wits to overcome a situation, not a pistol that you can draw out a firefight forever with. I can live with unlimited ammo, it certainly didn't kill either ME1 or MoH: Airborne for me, I just feel it makes the conflicts a bit more exciting... even if its just an itty bit. I'm looking forward to Alpha Protocol with or without it. It is kind of ironic to see you flipping out over limited ammo being back in... who is the fat nerd worrying about a trivial issue now? -
Spoil me. I've just boarded the after doing all loyalty missions, and I've explored available part of the galaxy. What would be different had I done that mission straight away? Things went pretty good for me and I held off that mission until I had done absolutely everything. From what I heard, the part where you want to be quick is

WTF? No Infinite Ammo in AP?
GreasyDogMeat replied to lord of flies's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
No infinite ammo? Really? Sweet! Then again... I think you are just taunting cool people who think infinite ammo is lame. Damn you, you taunting socialist wacko! I have a feeling AP is going to rock infinite ammo or not, but here is some food for thought: Mass Effect 1 = infinite ammo. Good game. Mass Effect 2 = limited ammo. Fan-friggin-tastic game! Best game Bio has made since Baldur's Gate! I rest my case.
