  1. Have to say I agree with Morgoth. I hate it when people say, 'It doesn't feel it', or 'the pain only lasts a moment'. How the hell do you know what it feels like? You try it recently? I also find it 'funny' that mkreku thinks owning a gun in America is some great crime against humanity, but slitting a dog's throat is a humane way to put it down.
  2. Coop, coop, COOP! It is the only way to play RE5. The game is a fantastic experience in this mode, especially if you can find a newbie like yourself and experience it from the start helping each other along the way. I'd rate the game as a 5 or a 6 in single player. In fact I don't think I ever passed the game in SP mode because it was that much more fun to play with a human companion. The game really is a 9 or a 10 in coop mode.
  3. I've been replaying the classic Tomb Raider series in anticipation of the Tomb Raider reboot and I've made it up to Tomb Raider 4: The Last Revelation. This was the game where I stopped getting Tomb Raiders until the most recent series by Crystal Dynamics. TR4 was my favorite of the classics (this may change as it will be my first time playing TR5: Chronicles & TR6: Angel of Darkness). The game looks good, especially considering it is over 10 years old and the story is the most interesting of the classic series. It pretty much feels like a Tomb Raider version of the Mummy movie. Ancient curse unleashed on the land involving locust swarms etc. Not the most original of stories, but it fits well. Some random thoughts on the series so far: Tomb Raider 3 was a ***** to complete. I forgot how huge and complicated the levels are. Often you have to throw a switch which opens some random door or moves something across the map and you need to keep an eye out for anything that looks remotely interactive. I've spent more time trying to beat TR3 than TR 1 & 2 combined. I did really enjoy playing the Gold add on missions for the first time. The Scottish highland missions and the French zoo looked great and were fun to explore. I'll be excited to finally get to TR5: Chronicles, as it will be the point where I'll be in uncharted territory (I've played the first 4 games before, though 10 years ago). I remember that Chronicles just didn't look as interesting as TR4 had been and I had wanted to see what happened next in the series, while Chronicles was just a random collection of past adventures and by the time Angel of Darkness had come out I had lost interest in the series until the first reboot, Legend was out.
  4. Basically. Unless they've totally overhauled the 'documentary' then, yes, it's a few facts, often exaggerated, that were mixed with a lot of fiction, conjecture, and editing - something that resulted in nothing more and nothing less than a perfect example of how conspiracy theories become popular and 'respectable.' This. It's whole intellectual underpinning - if one can credit such a specious mountain of manipulative trash with such a thing - is a farrago of eighth-rate pseudointellectual nonsense, starting with archaeology on the level of books with titles like Jesus, Last of the Pharaohs* before moving on to cheap economic conspiracy theories. Basically. Unless they've totally overhauled the 'documentary' then, yes, it's a few facts, often exaggerated, that were mixed with a lot of fiction, conjecture, and editing - something that resulted in nothing more and nothing less than a perfect example of how conspiracy theories become popular and 'respectable.' Yeah, but only the first doc, but it's only the points about 9/11 Uh, no. The entire first part of the documentary - and I mean practically every single word - is bunkum. I'm going to focus on the first part in particular, because it treads on my patch academically and therefore sets off my bull**** detectors like nothing else. In fact, the only part of the Zeitgeist movement I would give any credit to is the idea that there is a conspiracy. There is indeed a conspiracy - a conspiracy of out-and-out cynics like "Dorothy Murdock"/Acharya S** and others of their ilk to write specious, pseudo-archaeological nonsense which is designed to prey on your ignorance to deceive you. And, of course, make some cash. I used to have a list of several sites with debunkings of Zeitgeist on 'em, but I seem to have lost it. This one comes up fairly high, though, and seems pretty academically OK: http://conspiracyscience.com/articles/zeitgeist/ There's also this one and Prof John Stackhouse's refutation, both of which look to be p. kosher. Zeitgeist, to be brief, does indeed belong to the wacko conspiracy bull**** end of the spectrum. If it's author is now trying to sell it as a way of life, I can only see it as a switch of tack by an out-and-out cynic, desperately seeking either fame or fortune. Peter Joseph is a con-man. That he preys on the ignorance of others rather than their stupidity does not make him any less reprehensible. *Yes, such a book does indeed exist. Yes, it's a load of bull**** less credible than a flat earth. Yes, lots of people buy into this ****, anyway. Go wiki-search the Priory of Sion while you're about it. **Don't bother looking her up. Her site when I checked it out consisted of a load of adverts for her BS books, and an article consisting of 15 or so pages of ranting about how mainstream academe had ignored her (gee, wonder why...) and repeated use of the same highly selective quote from Justin Martyr. Here's a good little page on her gibberings: http://www.tektonics.org/af/achy01.html . An example, in the form of a quote that website gives from Acharya S' book, attempting to conflate Mark the evangelist with the early Christian thinker Marcion: Life is too short to waste on this crap. It also does harm to any truth used to propagate the bs conspiracy. The sky is blue & THE GOVERNMENT BLEW UP THE 9-11 BUILDINGS. Right... sure they did, and I bet the sky is blue too you nut!
  5. That is why you choose to work for the NCR. Have you seen Ceasar's Legion women? No one has! They reproduce a-sexually thanks to radiation mutation.
  6. That gave Kung Fu Hustle, at it's craziest, a run for it's money!
  7. This is what that lunatic here in Tucson was into when he was talking about the monetary system in his crazy rants.
  8. You missed out on the best version!
  9. I'd like it both ways. Good AI and an option to have killable or unkillable NPCs.
  10. All this trouble I hear about getting recent PC titles to work decently just reinforces my decision to get a console. That is definitely one thing I don't miss, hours and sometimes days of trying to get a game to work properly. The two DeathSpank games (See Majek's Avatar) are on sale this week on xbla so I picked them up. The humor is all over the place, at times sounding like its for a 5 year old, other times making me lol. Luckily I've been laughing more than not. Playing through the games I can see where most of Monkey Island's humor came from. I wish the game played more like the original Diablo or Dungeon Siege and enemies stayed dead and if you died you had to reload, not just respawn a few feet away.
  11. Horrible article that I feel is just trying to piggyback on the recent shooting that once again, has nothing to do with 'vitriol' and everything to do with a lunatic. Dems are furious at their recent november loss and are looking for a way to get back. Funny that it wasn't an issue when Bush was in office and the rhetoric was over the top. Within an hour of the tragedy, and I mean an hour, I heard some local democrats on the radio blaming this on the tea-party and it's rhetoric. Absolutely nothing about the shooting was known at the time and the news was falsely reporting Giffords as dead. Off topic, but Giffords has been making a fantastic recovery. She was up and walking (with assistance) a few days ago!
  12. I tried to beat ToEE multiple times, usually quitting early on. Eventually I did manage to make it to the final boss but ended up rage quitting during the battle and I haven't picked it up again. That was something about the Infinity Engine games, even the hard Icewind Dale 2 was worth playing through to see what would happen next. Its games like ToEE that remind me how vital a good story is to a RPG.
  13. On the topic of 'Blaming gamers for company mishaps', there was one just recently that really irked me and I wish I could think of it. The game didn't sell well, because it sucked, and the devs cried about it. Crysis comes to mind, though they blamed piracy. That irked me too, as a gamer who loves shooters Crysis was competing with Call of Duty at the time and I just wasn't as interested in Crysis. It looked pretty, but beyond that it just didn't hook me. A/The Dev/s of Hydrophobia also bashed the poor reviews because gamers/reviewers weren't 'playing it right'. To an extent I agree, as I enjoyed it. The game is a bit of a glorified tech demo though. I can be easily amused I suppose, as I would literally spend up to 20 minutes just opening doors to gaze at the water realisticly flow from one room to the other. Hey, it was more exciting than it sounds!
  14. Well, its coming out that this lunatic was into the whole 'Loose Change' 'the government commited 9-11' crap. To those bitching about rhetoric, perhaps we should also ban speech promoting this lunacy? One of the more dangerous beliefs out there. If 9-11 was perpetrated by the government, assassination of political figures could be justified. If I really believed it I would want to see those responsible killed, one way or another. I remember speaking to a 'truther' about this and I said the very same to him. "Just you wait" he said. http://www.examiner.com/libertarian-in-nat...-a-9-11-truther It will be interesting if this information will every see the light of day in the mainstream media between the Palin beat downs.
  15. I enjoyed Dead Space, but the camera gave me a headache over extended play.
  16. Not so funny. "Compared to humans, cats have poor liver function and are less able to detoxify substances. Cats have become tipsy on red wine sauce from meal leftovers. While a single occasion might not cause long term ill-effects, large amounts or repeated amounts of alcohol will cause liver damage. As well as intoxication and gastrointestinal irritation; alcohol poisoning will result in breathing difficulties, coma and death." Cat may not have been harmed in the making of that video, but his days are numbered if his owner keeps that up. Feeding a pet certain foods might seem cute or funny, but can have disastrous effects. Chocolate is poison to dogs for instance.
  17. Just reading the description of the movies plot is .
  18. He shot up over 12 people, murdering 6 including a 9 year old girl. **** his feelings, or anyone's about how his photo comes out.
  19. Hah, possible but I think they just don't know how to write a story.
  20. As if it isn't depressing enough already, the nine year old girl killed in the massacre was born on 9-11-2001. Born on a day of senseless tragedy and killed nine years four months later in another senseless tragedy. Also, all this talk of vitriol is getting more ridiculous as more info is released about the killer. He started stalking her 3 years ago in 2007 when he asked her a rambling incoherent question at a town hall meeting which she ignored infuriating him apparently. Well before the formation of the Tea-Party, but the libs will be desperate to pin this on the Tea-Party/Republican rhetoric. Why the heck didn't the parents see something was wrong with their son? He had a tent in their backyard with some sort of satanic shrine with a skull on it, and the guy was incoherent to speak with.
  21. Wow, the guy wasn't even a military vet. He tried to join in either 08 or 09 and was not allowed because he didn't pass, of course, the psych evaluation. That means no training, nothing. I guess just the interest in joining is enough to cast him as ex-military. Again, if they do its on the psycho, not the mouthpieces. I listen to Beck once a week, and EVERY time he advocates peaceful Martin Luther King non-violent solutions to the countries problems. In fact, one of his biggest fears is people like this who would damage the cause beause he knows loons give the left power to make one more legaslation against freedom in this country. I'm very worried about what is going to change because of this fool. The American people are not going to benefit from it. Whether it means that politicians are going to stop actually going out to the street corner to speak to us (very proud of her for doing so, she always gave both sides the time to speak to her) or some new legislation that makes the Bush-era wiretapping look like a Libertarian agenda.
  22. And who sets that limit? If given the truth I believe people can find their way. Perhaps next we should crack down on the green party for creating guys like James J. Lee? PETA and their radical agenda and speech. Or do we just go after the Tea Party people up? And yeah, the country has gone insane. We have a president actively working against it. We have places in Arizona where Americans can't visit because of drug cartels yet instead of forcing them out, we put up signs. Reforms and government takeovers rammed out and down our throats before anyone can read them. I'm glad the debate has been fierce, and I hope it stays that way as the current administration keeps pounding out legislation. Keep up the fight. DO IT IN THE BALLOT BOX THOUGH! My family is full of polar opposites on the political spectrum, yet we manage to get along and we've heard the inflamatory rhetoric from both sides.
  23. Disagree. I still believe in freedom of speech. The so called 'vitriol' is as much responsible for this tragedy as Doom was for Columbine. Gabby was neither a major target of the left or right. This loon had a problem with the constitution's 'grammar' of all things, and she had read the constitution just a few days ago. He lived, literally 3 miles away from her. The perfect storm of mental health problems and someone associated with his delusions showing up at his door step.
  24. Well, a complete lunatic, Jared Loughner, decided to go to the Safeway on corner of Oracle (Where I work) and Ina (Where my bank is) and open fire on Gabrielle Giffords and multiple civilians. He shot her through the head, though she survived and is in recovery. Among 18 shot, 6 were killed including a 9 year old girl and U.S. District Judge John Roll. 'Gabby' Giffords is considered a moderate Democrat. I respect a lot of her views despite voting for her opponent Jesse Kelly. She is one of the few people members of congress that actually goes out to meet constituants and the general public which is what she was doing today with minimal if any security. He just walked up, shot her in the head and unloaded a pistol with an extended clip on the crowd. The piece of human garbage who carried this out was a nut bag with rantings online about mind control and grammar. An article on the story. This is a shocking tragedy right in my back yard. My own grandmother is a huge supporter who has invited Giffords to parties and has attended many of these meetings. The moment I heard the story my first thought was... "Oh my god! Did she go this time? Is she one of the eighteen shot?". Luckily a quick phone call confirmed she was ok. She gasped when she heard the news.
