NwN was a very steep decline from the BG games. DA is only a slight curve up from NwN 1 and no where near as good as the BG games. That seems to be the only real return to the BG series, the ability to control a larger party, but still not the 6 characters of BG. That was just one small part of BG that DA is emulating, it looks and feels far closer to NwN OC. I'll never understand your taste either. Imagine BG 1 & 2 in a 3d remake using the DA engine. Better story (a great twist and villains), more interesting characters, wonderful locations (handcrafted paintings looked amazing), better rules, better quests (love how DA is loaded with billboard quests).

Sigh... another reason I think I'll hold off finishing DA 1 until DA 2 is patched. The most frustrating so far has been the Merril quest bug as I was actually interested in seeing how her quest ends and it just goes fubar.

Dammit, I didn't get that. Odd that it kept all of my Origin choices from a Witch Hunt import, but no Awakenings choices despite going through Awakenings. Unfortunately I only had a Witch Hunt & Golems of Angarrak save. At least it read my Origins choices from the Witch Hunt save. I'm in the process of replaying Origins with a different character so I'll make sure to have Origins and Awakenings ending saves. I'm kind of in hiatus from Origins though as I don't really feel like replaying DA 2 again until it receives a patch. While they can't fix the repeating dungeons/caves, hopefully they will fix some of the quest bugs and add auto-attack to the console version. DA 2 killed my hand and I'm in no hurry to mash the A-button a million more times.

I imported a save file from Witch Hunt with a character who had gone through Awakenings. The game listed a bunch of choices from Origins, but I didn't see any from Awakenings. Are there any save elements read from Awakenings that effect DA 2? I didn't notice any personally.

I HATE it when people say, Bio included, that Dragon Age was a descendant of Baldur's Gate. If anything it was a descendant of NwN. That isn't intended as a slam, it looks and plays like NwN with D&D rules replaced by MMO cool-down powers. Comparing DA to BG shames BG, and it was just thrown around by Bio to get old RPG fans excited. That list is pretty much why I switched to primarily console gaming a few years ago. Why play console games on my PC dealing with sloppy ports when I could just... buy a console? The trend was showing no evidence of changing, so spend thousands of dollars to build a new PC to play said console ports? All of my favorite devs were switching over to console development first, PC second. In the time I've switched I haven't seen a SINGLE PC only title which excited me and made me think 'I HAVE to upgrade my PC for that!'. The only big PC releases I've seen so far are RTS games which, while they can be fun, are not really my favorite genre. This is one of the few times I've seen a tech trend and responded early. Took me ages to finally get a cell phone and go to dvd. I also think its a bit bunk to blame DA 2's problems on it being a console game. You might be able to pin some of the 'streamlining' on it being a console release, much of it I didn't mind, but you can't blame bad writing and hurried re-use of assets on it being a console game. I think Laidlaw outright stated that they didn't have time and it was a choice between reusing areas vs. more dialogue etc. (GET MORE TIME DAMN YOU, or hire more/better map creators. You bastards should have enough after all the ME1/2 & DA1 + DLC sales).

Too true. Otherwise Temple of Elemental Evil would have been one of the best games ever made.

Duke! Stop! What are you doing!? You sick bastard! Johnny Cage stars in

Today and only today, April 1st, XBLA is having a sale on Dead Money for $5 instead of $10. If you have F:NV for 360 and don't yet have the DLC, don't be a fool and get it today!

After DA 2 I'm really starting to worry. Most of it's problems seem to come from it being rushed. ME 3 is coming out pretty soon after ME 2. Does this mean we are going back to one single prefab building interior and ship interior to explore for a 40-50 hour game again? Gesundheit!

Eh, then the quest should update telling you that you failed. It doesn't, and there is a mysterious character near the entrance to the coast that can't be interacted with who I'm assuming is the bandit you are supposed to meet.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced
GreasyDogMeat replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
I've noticed odd diferences between PC & 360 performance. I picked up Quake 4 on both the PC and 360. I can run it flawlessly on PC, but it runs horrible on 360. I also picked up GTA IV on PC & 360. It looks and runs great on 360, but runs unplayably bad on my PC. I think pnp is right. -
That's how I felt at first until the repetitive dungeons, glitches, button mashing & poor story killed it for me.

This actually happened to me yesterday: I had an open bowl of garlic slices out on a table. I was making some food and I needed to go pick some extra stuff up at the market. So, while I'm gone my cat jumped up on the counter and hid every piece of garlic around the house so now it smells like I'm warding against vampires. I've found most of them but I have no idea what the cat was thinking.

Dragon Age 2 TV Commercial. None of it appears to be in-game and it is interesting how the Arishok keeps showing up in places he never appeared in the actual game. Oh, they show 3 areas in the game so they actually show you one tenth of the game's areas. At least they don't use any Marylin Manson death rock.

Between State & Federal Taxes, if you won a million dollars you would be lucky if you got 500,000. Calax has the right idea. That and I'd buy some property and become a slum lord. Oh, and I'd buy **** load of video games.

For me the quality of Bio games has always bounced up and down. While that is my personal opinion, this might be the first time so many customers have been so dissatisfied about a Bio game, so perhaps this might be a big negative turning point. I don't think this will be that moment though. If Mass Effect 3 is as rushed as DA 2, that might be the straw that breaks the camels back. Maybe this was the beginning of th end... I hope not though. They do make great games from time to time.

Best video game acronym ever!

Yeah, like I mentioned, May is a crowded month. Despite looking forward to it Brink, L.A. Noire & Dungeon Siege 3 are all higher on my list than Duke Nukem Forever.

Loved that part! I wish he did that much damage normally... Because there is always someone who stumbles in and complains despite the forum title. That and you can highlight the spoiler text a bit at a time and decide if it is spoiling something you missed despite completing the game and stop reading etc.

I see. One of the few moments in the game where I gave my party members an angry negative response.
-
I actually had that battle Is there anyone in your party
-
Would it be sacrilege to wish for a remake of DX 1 with the gameplay & graphics of DX: Human Revolution?
-
Oh Duke, you lovable rascal! Oh well, May was way too crowded anyway. Also, while it was previously just a rumor, I'm pleased to say the HD RE 4 & RE Code Veronica ports are real. No announcement date yet. In other Resident Evil news, there is an upcoming 4 player coop RE game called Operation Racoon City. While I never played them, I'm guessing it will be like the RE Outbreak games on PS2, perhaps playing more like RE 4 & 5. As I've mentioned many times, I loved RE 5 coop so if they can capture that magic in Op. Racoon City I'm eager!
