Daikatana 2: John Romero will make you his bitch. No, really this time!
-
I can understand if you didn't like certain aspects, but the C&C!? Some of the best I've seen in a game! Almost anyone can be sided with, multiple paths to the objective, numerous endings and three different play styles (Tech, Soldier, Spy).
-
Dumbed down D20 was still way better than, what 3 skills in Jade Empire?
-
I'm so not a SW kiddie! I only liked the original movies, and the only other SW games I've played were the awesome Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games. SW = Sci Fi Fantasy. Personal preference here. Jade Empire = Chinese mythology. Not interested. KoTOR = More varied and interesting planets to visit. You get to dive underwater, explore a jungle planet & ancient Sith ruins. Jade Empire = Some of the environments are nice, just not as exciting. KoTOR = 40 Hour RPG. Jade Empire = 25 Hour RPG. KoTOR = D20 Rules (They RULE btw! HAR HAR). Jade Empire = Rock, Paper, Scissors action system with a tiny weak rule system. KoTOR = Didn't see the twist coming. Got me good. Jade Empire = Seriously lame twist could see from the beginning of the game, and the big reveal about the dragon... didn't care. KoTOR = HK-47 and other likable characters. Jade Empire = No one sticks out. I can't even think of their names. The only one that sticks out is the attractive woman in blue. She wasn't as good as Bastila imho. The only bone I can throw to Jade Empire is that not as many quests were straight-up rehashes of NwN 1 quests and plot lines. Many KoTOR quests and plots are straight copy-pastes of NwN. That said, many of them were big improvements on the NwN Variations. Jade Empire wasn't a horrible game, but I found it to be a really poor RPG. I feel kind of similar about ME 2, but at least in ME 2 the combat is fairly exciting cover-based shooting and not rock, paper, scissor button mashing.

ME2 is a better game IMHO. More polished, epic & fun battles. AP is a better RPG IMHO. Better C&C & rule system. Now, If I were to compare AP to ME 1 AP would win in almost every regard. But they're all great so it isn't a huge victory for any of them, or any loss for the player of any of the games IMHO.

Couldn't disagree more. While some have pissed me off, none have consistently irritated my like Alistair. Just thinking about that whiny sad face he makes when talking about Duncan... RAGE! Its like a black hole captured all the suck of Anomen, Carth & every other irritating Bioware character and formed it into one pure diamond of whininess.
-
Wait... you could have Anora behead Alistair!? Why did I not choose this... Too bad you can't see it being carried out. I was trying to play a good character first time through so I didn't choose the option to have him executed, tempting as it was.

Jade Empire actually came out a few years after KoTOR, which made it all the more disappointing. KoTOR used a variation of the D&D rules, dumbed down a bit from NwN but made up for with a much better story and more cinematic experience while Jade Empire had one of the weakest rule systems in a RPG. Not the worst game ever but, after KoTOR, such a let down.

Bah, the Mohammed one gave me a good chuckle. Here is another: A Jewish man is riding on the subway reading an Arabic newspaper. A friend of his saw and asked him why he was reading an Arabic paper. 'I used to read Jewish newspapers. I read how Jews are being persecuted worldwide, Israel being attacked, Jews living in poverty. I switched to the Arabic paper and read that Jews own all the banks, Jews control the media, Jews are filthy rich and powerful and that they control the world.' 'The Arabic news is so much better!'

KoTOR>>>KoTOR 2 Rofl, wat? If you're a fan of horrid writing and shallow, one-dimensional characters, I guess. I really enjoyed KoTOR and didn't find the writing all that horrible. That said I agree that KoTOR 2 was a better game (except for the ending). KoTOR 2 was probably the most mature version of Star Wars I've ever seen. I can see how this might of been a problem for the kid-friendly image of the series, but I loved it.

Most city elves don't have the accent, but most if not all of the Sundermount elves have the accent. Some thicker than others. I'm taking a bit of a break from DA 2. That bug ticked me off and I'm not sure whether to just keep playing or reload and try to avoid it.

Some Jokes: What do you call a Muslim with a slice of ham on his head? Hamed. What do you call a Muslim with two slices of ham on his head? Mohammed. What do Muslim construction workers shout at Muslim women passing by? SHOW US YOUR FACE!

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!
GreasyDogMeat replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
Eh, don't complain too much about those cutscenes. 'Cause then the devs will make the cutscene long and unskippable and place it before a hard boss battle that requires a specific pattern you need to learn through trial and error. You complain about that too, then they add Quick time events! Now not only is the cutscene unskippable, but you have to tap random buttons that pop up as fast as you can, follow that by a segment of mashing a button as fast as you can giving you early carpel tunnel syndrome. Miss just one button press or you don't mash that button as furiously as you should have and start again! Plain old cutscenes aren't that bad. -
I ran into some massive Merril quest bugs in the final act.
-
I also hated Duncan, and the irritating bastard worshiped him with a passion.
-
I had a split second where I felt sorry for him, then I remembered what a d-bag he was in DA 1.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!

They didn't. They only publish Prey 2. Prey 2 will not use idTech5. I was hoping it would use the Rage engine, but I'm not worried. Brink is also using idTech4 and it looks great. -
I wouldn't use botched myself as I feel there are a number of improvements over DA:O. They certainly botched the change to no auto attack and the lack of environments. DA:O did the same thing with random encounters. You would run into a different encounter all the time while traveling, but it was always in the same field. DA 2 takes that to extreme for indoor areas and caves and it really hurt the experience.

In NwN 2 before the patch that added the auto-sort button, I'd spend upwards of 40-60 minutes sorting equipment. I'm one of those players who wants to have every character equipped with the best, even if I rarely if ever use the character so I'd end up having to pass everything to one character, then the next, then go into the inn to swap characters etc.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!

Prey 2 coming in 2012! I enjoyed the first game and I'll be eager to see this one. It is being published by Bethesda and will use the Rage engine. Ok, they don't specifically mention the Rage engine, just saying 'built on the id tech engine from id Software' but I'm assuming it will use the recent Rage engine. -
Bah, I meant: Though I was kinda of right with that mistake... having role playing in their game is not mandatory for Bioware... ***cough Jade Empire***
-
I'm assuming RPGmasterBoo meant that having an RPG in their game is mandatory for Bioware, not that going through the actual romance is mandatory. Wouldn't that be horrible? You must romance this irritating prick or you can't advance the story.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

You're a funny man. The environments looked fantastic, if not generic, for it's time. The character models on the other hand... -
Why do you even bother reading those comments? I gave up long ago as the average youtube poster makes you weep for humanity.
