My biggest issue with the game so far, even more so than having to mash the A button to attack. Bio really needs to hire an extra map designer or two because it is amazing how many caves in and near Kirkwall look identical to each other. I had thought they learned their lesson in ME 2.

For me, Dragon Age 1 was actually worse than NwN 1. It was playable, but a very uninteresting world that was trying to be D&D, but less interesting. That bugged me, because you visited the most generic uninteresting locations imaginable while you find Lore about exciting, bright and colorful locations and I'd ask myself: Why aren't we there instead of ****ing Fereldan? So, for me, Dragon Age 2 is a huge improvement in that the location and story is much more exciting and colorful. It feels like they are actually trying to make the Dragon Age IP unique, and not such an obvious D&D clone replacing the good rules of D&D with MMO rules. As a sequel, I don't think DA 2 is as good as ME 2. WDeranged Volo said exactly what I feel earlier in that I liked about 90% of the changes in ME 2, but for DA 2 I'm liking about 50%.

Volo is right. There were more changes between Mass Effect 1 & 2 than there were between DA 1 & 2 and I think we can all agree ME 2 is the direct sequel to ME 1.

I'm only 9 hours in so far but I'm enjoying the game. I really like the new redesign of the old races and the look of Kirkwall. It feels much less generic than the first game. Elves & Qunari finally look like different races, and not people with pointed ears or large people with grey skin. The inventory seems to take a bit longer to navigate, but I like how new Lore entries are clearly marked. That was a big problem for me with Dragon Age 1. The entries would be placed low on the list and the check would be deactivated as you scrolled down so if you didn't catch the name of the entry you had to sort through or guess which hadn't been read yet. I'm enjoying the more personal story and the speaking main characters so far. For once, not only are the default appearances excellent but the voices as well for the main characters. I still ended up customizing my Hawke though. Biggest disappointment so far is having to constantly mash the a-button during combat. I'm guessing they wanted to make the game feel more actiony. Killing my thumbs!

I can't wait for the sequel! I loved the whole Scarecrow section. The game psyches you out and makes you think your console/computer is crashing and resetting.
-
For anyone who has played it, was Project Snowblind any good? It apparently started out as a third Deus Ex game but after the poor reception of IW the Deus Ex name was dropped.
-
Its out? Cool, I was waiting for that one. I'm going to have to play some NwN 2 and some mods sometime soon.

Awesome! This is how pre-order bonuses should work. Most of it is garbage best lost to time and the few who pre-ordered the game, but some stuff is just too cool to be limited. I got the Deadly Assassin outfit when I pre-ordered Red Dead, and it is one of the cooler outfits in the game. You kind of look like the villain from Once Upon a Time in the West.

This. I found it getting old playing the demo and from what I've seen the game is a one trick pony. Might be a fun diversion in the $10-20 range.

So what does the BFE stand for? Serious Sam 3: Battle Field Earth? Serious Sam 3: Better Forget Entertainment! Serious Sam 3: Big Fat Equines Serious Sam 3: Blast Force Enema -
I really enjoyed Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2. Probably feels like Pac-man compared to some of the other military shooters like Arma, but IMHO it mixes just enough of tactics and arcade style shooting to keep me interested.
-
Absolutely! I loved getting the new BAR and bringing it back to Vegas. The new bear trap fist is one of my new favorite fist weapons too.

Gears is a poor single player experience, but it feels like a different game in coop mode. A bit like Resident Evil 5 in that regard.
-
No, Gears of War is awesome and you have dodgy taste in games. I love FPS games, but I don't love this one. At least what I've seen of the demo. The whole gimmick of knocking things around for points, when other shooters just do it as a background mechanic doesn't interest me. I'm far more interested in Duke Forever for my irreverent blow **** up fps experience. Will be able to knock enemies off railings without big 50 POINTS text covering the screen etc.

The more I read about DS3...
GreasyDogMeat replied to Renevent's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I like most of what I've read about it so far in comparison to the older games. The only thing that sounds disapointing is the 'no progression in coop' but I've heard that might not be true. I went ahead and pre-ordered DS III today. -
I love it myself even if I get the heebee geebies from time to time when bugs crawl out of people or some other nasty autopsy.

Are you kidding? I'm shocked they can show most of the stuff they show on it. Fringe is directly influenced by X-Files. It has main story episodes and monster of the week episodes, likable characters and alternate universes. Fringe is on it's 3rd season now and while it was a bit slow to get started the show has improved every season. It shows on Fox. You can catch the latest episodes on Hulu, or the above linked main site. Not sure where you would catch the early episodes besides getting the DVD set.

I was obsessed with the show back in the 90s. Unfortunately, after Season 5 the show became really bad. My adoration turned to hate and the recent X-Files movie confirmed it. This might be a bit spoilerish but you come to find Carter and the other writers had absolutely no clue where the show was going and just made crap up as it went along. The mythology gave this sense that it was building towards some great reveal. Just a huge let down. Some highlights of how stupid the show became in the later seasons: -A bunch of hillbillys worship a giant parasitic slug as the second coming of Christ. -A dwarf Indian on a wheel cart is invisible and he crawls up people's asses to control them. No I'm not making this up. Early seasons were 5-6 fantastic great episodes, then maybe 1 meh episode then 5-6 great etc. By the last seasons it was 10 episodes of crap and one decent episode. Maybe the move from Vancouver to LA (coincidentaly right after season 5) fried the writers brains in the LA heat. Fringe has been a much better show so far, as it seems like the writers actually have a plan. That said, without the X-Files there would be no Fringe or many other decent sci-fi shows.

I'm jealous now. That cat brings it's owner new shoes. All my cat brings me are dead animals.

There should have been a download. One way to check would be to go to Omega. The Mercenary should be just down the hall as you arrive. Or check the weapons locker under heavy weapons and see if you have the Arc Projector.

What are the scariest movies you have ever seen
GreasyDogMeat replied to Gorgon's topic in Way Off-Topic
You just put a whole new spin on the movie. 'Oh God! I hope my daughter doesn't have brain cancer! I hope it is just poesession by SATAN. Then atleast we can cure it with a priest.' -
The gun in Kasumi is awesome and I think every class can use it. Once you get it you will never use the automatic pistol again.
-
Scroll down for a list of the dlc. The stuff in the list marked free [n2] is all in the Cerberus pack. Since I absolutely loved the game I picked up all the DLC as it came in. I agree with Nepenthe and I'd say Kasumi & Shadow Broker are the best of the bunch. I really liked Overlord as well as it has a killer ending. As far as the weapon/armor packs went, the one I use constantly in-game is from the cerberus network: The Cerberus Arc Projector. The weapon is saving my butt in an Insanity difficulty playthrough. Unfortunately I don't think you can pick and choose stuff from the Cerberus Network, I think you have to buy the whole thing to get access to any one dlc from it. If you really want the complete package too, you can download the Dr. Pepper dlc items by looking up a code on the internet and signing into a website. You were supposed to get the code from the tops of Dr. Pepper but apparently the codes are not individualized. The helmets are pretty cool but you do have to sign into a seperate web-site and link your account.

Yeah, that movie had me fearful of clowns lurking under my bed for a long time after.
