  1. I drank a whole 12 pk last night. I feel awful today. I'm definitely getting old. When I was in the military I could do half again as much and still run 5k with pack and rifle the next morning without puking or falling out.
  2. Han Solo at Stars End. That was the one I read back in grade school. I had to look that one up. I don't remember much about it but as a fan of the original SW I imagine I liked it. I read the novelization of SW and Empire too in High School and that is when I realized that movies made from books seldom live up to the book and vice versa.
  3. The odd thing is when you go far enough to the left or right the two sides actually get closer together!
  4. Agreed. We'll make libertarians out of these folks yet! Except Bruce & Ktchong, that cause is lost!
  5. Would be fine if we didn't have to pay for their lifestyle choices, I don't like paying taxes just so that my hard earned dollars go to support the indulgent and the corrupt. So we either remove taxation or mend the problem, enabling it means that this cycle will continue and that we have to pay for it instead of services which would benefit all of us. And there is what is so insidious about the government running healthcare. It gives it the ultimate backstage pass into our private business. When the state assumes responsibility for our welfare then we all become wards of the state. Of course here I go derailing a thread. This was all about minding other peoples business with a slight dusting of humor to make it all go down sweeter.
  6. I bought a 12pk of Sam Adams Rebel IPA on the way home. Wasn't enough room for it in the fridge. So I put it in a steel bucket with ice and now I'm sitting on the front porch jamming XM Radio channel 59 so loud my neighbors would be bitching. Which makes it a good thing I don't have any.
  7. I just don't get this obsession some folks have with how other folks are living their lives. I see someone overweight I don't pay them any mind at all. Who cares? It's their problem not mine and not your. You know the biggest problem facing the world today is there are far too many nitwits who thing it is their place to tell other folks how they should be living their lives. BTW this applies equally well to gay marriage, gun ownership, muscle car driving, computer gaming, dating ugly chicks, smoking dope, whatever. What a wonderful world this would be if we all just minded our business and left everyone else alone.
  8. Today I heard the greatest song ever written. Now it's time for you to hear it too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h5o8xwMq7o
  9. Yes, I am much more comfortable with the Supreme Court interpreting laws than a country clerk from Kentucky. I am not a fan of anything that is currently being done in regards to immigration in DC. Both the Congress and the White House are a mess on the issue. There is no amnesty by the way, just a ham handed directive that has pretty clearly failed. We didn't really talk about it here, and it's quite a bit off topic, so cheers. edit: You seem to still think I'm a liberal. I'm a hardcore moderate. I just look liberal because you are so far out there. Hurlie, let me ask you straight out and I really want you to think about this. You are an educated man and you know what the 1st & 9th and 10th Amendments of the US Constitution are all about. Can you honestly say you have no problem with the way Obergefell was decided?
  10. I'm picking at the leftover from dinner and talking to you fine folks. With nothing better to do today I think I'll see if there are any new interesting Skyrim mods and start a new game. It's been a long time.
  11. BTW Boo, that last post was not meant to be directed at you in any way. I forgot I was writing a reply.
  12. No, politically, its much better to force them to tear you down instead of stepping aside. The outcome is the same, but the former will gain you more exposure, support from like minded individuals etc. Either way she would be a hero to those who share her view. And you are right, the outcome will be the same. The licenses will be issued and she will still be gone. That means the big show and going to jail was unnecessary and IMO hurts her more than helps. I posted before that I think what she did, refusing to follow the law, was not a moral stand it was a selfish one. I don't imagine this is a person who dreams of holding higher offices and it's not for me to say if her Christian beliefs are genuine. But even if they are the Christian thing to do is to follow the law of step aside. Not to break it. In the end the only soul we are responsible for is our own. If you think gay couples who marry are sinning then that is between them and God. It has nothing to do with you. Jesus said "Render unto Caesar those things that are Caesar's and unto God those things that are God's" . Paul wrote "Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The biggest problem with the Christian faith I have found is that so many who claim to follow it know so little about it.
  13. The correct way to take a stand here would have been to resign. Do it publicly with a press release, Say your piece about the Supreme Court, the illegitimacy of the decision, whatever. Then step aside. As an elected official you do not get to pick and choose which law you follow and which you don't. Unless of course your name is Barack Hussein Obama. Then you get to do whatever the f--k you please and the law, people, and constitution be damned because no one has the spine to stop you.
  14. Yeah that sums it up perfectly I'm afraid to say.
  15. How did it taste? I like doing meals like this because they do cater for a group and basically are about letting flavors and ingredients infuse together in a pot...like a stew. So theoretically it shouldn't be too difficult to get it right.....of course that's theoretical It got a 9.2 on the awesome scale. I made a broccoli salad to go with it and nice California pinot blanc. Then afterwards we all retired to the porch for glasses of fine bourbon and dull conversation. It was nice. The thing is I barely know these folks so I didn't have much to say. Tommy & Sunny liked them all so they are ok with me then.
  16. It's cooking now... holy s--t does this smell good!
  17. My Wife's friends are coming over tonight. So I'm making this: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/03/lowcountry-boil-from-around-the-southern-tabl.html Going to the store now to get the ingredients.
  18. I don't like. I don't like it at all. I'm active on their boards and the popular request was for a title like Total War: 1914
  19. An epitaph for Woldan: Strong as a bull With the courage of 10 men Went out to check a noise Was never heard from again
  20. Aaaannnnddd..... still no word from Woldan! Either he got it or it got him!
  21. From 100m? Now that is a hell of a shot! Hats off to you Sir!
  22. Wow the cut content mod was actually finished? That's awesome. How did it turn out?
  23. I love how that new star wars movie completely invalidated over a million words of bad writing and bad story telling in the "extended universe" books. At least so I heard. The only star wars book I ever read was just about Han Solo and I was in 7th grade.
  24. Today I'm going to change the oil in the mower, cut the grass, work in the garden, watch the Rays-Yankees game and just enjoy being alive!
