The best revenge is living well. The second best is watching them live poorly.

NHL 2015-2016 (The Panthers Stanley Cup Season)

What do you guys think of 3 on 3 OT? Personally I wish they would just go back to a single 5 min OT and if it ends in a tie it ends in a tie. -
If something like that were to ever happen it would not be an economic decision. There is no economic upside to that at least in the short term. It would be a reaction to an overt and illegal act by the federal government. Although the fact that it's getting so much discussion these days is a little telling on the dissatisfaction with what is going on in Washington but it isn't lurking around the corner either.

Fist I watched Team USA get crushed by Scotland. Then I flipped back and forth between the Rays losing to the Blue Jays and the Bucs losing to the Texans. Now the Dolphins are getting blown out. What a crappy day.

It's hard not to see the other party as an enemy these days. According to The Obama administration's instructions to the police in 2009 I am a likely terrorist because I'm a veteran, a gun owner, a Christian, and I have a libertarian/conservative political lean. They have turned the IRS into their own private thought police, shutting down PACs whose politics they don't approve of and ruthlessly persecuting public figures and officials who speak against their agenda. The seem to think it's perfectly ok to kill American citizens with drones with no judicial oversight or due process. Lets not even get into gun control and their stance on private property. They have made it their business who we call, who we e-mail, what books we read, what web sites we visit. They seem to think it is perfectly ok to compel private citizens to enter into contracts with a third party. Or resettle dangerous foreign nationals in communities without either permission or coordination with local governments or police. And speaking of police the Memphis police department has more heavy weapons, armored vehicles, and infantry gear than half the nations of South America and are not shy about using them. Thank you Barack Obama for that. Bear in mind that is the same police he said should be keeping an eye on me while ignoring the Muslim refugees who may or may not be Syrians (they don't really bother to check). And of course if you bring up things like state sovereignty or the Constitution they laugh at you all while scribbling you name on a list for the IRS to check out later. Of course most of that was started under the pervious administration and supported by a number of the GOP candidates so when it comes to enemies it seems we have no lack of those.

Today we need to beat Scotland for the first time ever I think. If the Eagles lose today the odds of advancement become long indeed.

Actually Texas would have the 14th largest economy in the world right off the bat with three cities with deep water ports. Puerto Rico just had a referendum about this a few years ago incidentally. The choices were to apply for Statehood, become an independent country or stay a territory, IIRC the vote wasn't close. There is an interesting process going on in Spain right now with Catalonia looking to break away.

It would take a serious act on the part of the Federal Government to push us to that point. Although I do think it is altogether capable of that magnitude of tyranny I don't think it will happen anytime soon. I hope it never happens but you would have to be blind to not see the US is becoming more and more divided. The only thing that keeps a country together is an agreement between the people to stay together.

The Cubs backed into the playoffs today thanks to the A's knocking the Giants out today. With the Rays out and the Marlins eliminated in June I'm pulling for the Cubs and Blue Jays the rest of the way.

Nothing wrong with that. As long as you don't wipe out of hit your own car. That would be embarrassing!

Whether or not a State is able to secede comes down to one thing an one thing only: The lengths the Federal Government and the people of the remaining States are willing to go to keep them. To say that it is simply illegal to do so is pointless because by the very act of leaving they are abrogating the agreement made that lends the law any weight. So it comes down to this if Texas were to secede just as an example is the government willing to invade, subjugate, and kill tens of thousands of their former countrymen while the world watches? To say nothing of the effect it might have on other states who might be teetering on the edge of joining Texas. Before the Civil War Virginia seceded when the War Department demanded Virginia based military units be used to invade North Carolina. We Americans are stubborn and not afraid to fight over a wrong, real or perceived. Even against long odds. Another point is that in 1861 almost a million people were being held as slaves in the seceding states. A moral injustice is also something worth fighting for especially when it happens on your doorstep. Once again using Texas as an example is they were to leave over a suspension or violation of the Constitution (which is what it would take I think) would the remaining citizens be willing to fight over a philosophical contention without the moral injustice? I really don't think they would. One last thing, the Civil War was followed by 40 years or Reconstruction during which the southern states were a drain on the treasury without adding revenue to it. Would the remaining states be willing to incur the cost of rebuilding what they had just destroyed in a state where the people are now angry and brutalized? I think if a state or even group of states were willing to walk away over politics the choices are really to do what is required to keep them peacefully or let them go.

John Boehner is resigning as the most hated man in a house of truly hated people. The democrats hate him because he's not a democrat the republicans hate him because he IS a democrat. I hate him because he has broken every promise he's made, rubber stamped everything the President wanted and generally showed he has no spine whatsoever. Good f-----g riddance I say. Now if only he could take Mitch McConnell with him when he goes because everything I just wrote describes him too. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/26/us/john-boehner-to-resign-from-congress.html

I'm guessing not so much now -
All teams have training camps going and the season starts in two weeks. But let's start on a lighter note: http://news.yahoo.com/model-tries-extort-2-000-194420873.html

Yogi Berra passed away last night. "It ain't over till it's over" Now it's over RIP.

Weights and a target with a respectable group on it. Now THATS a manly picture! The only thing missing is a bottle of good booze.
-
Self aggrandizement. That is all he is about I think.

Two words... train wreck
-
That reminds me, Walshingham said hi GD, talked to him to other day and said he kinda misses you heh (and all you other rascalls) Also buying buying buying stuff Thanks Ros. Tell him I said "hey" and tell him to come see us once in a while!
-
Everything Amentep said plus I find my phone and tablet make a poor charcoal fire starter. And you can only use them once.
-
Bruce, this whole primary process is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You are horrified buy what you see, yet you cannot look away. Whoever wins the Presidency in 2016 I'll sleep a lot more soundly as long as both houses of Congress are controlled by the other party.
-
And another one down and another one down and another bites the dust. Bum bum bum... another one bits the dust Admit it, you are SO humming that right now!

Another upshot of living in the sticks. No one ever comes to screw up traffic! Well, it's not like DC is an easy commute on non-Pope days.

First off, I suspect the US will not be willing to go to war to stop seceding states. Second, if Texas were to walk away it would be the 14th largest economy in the world right off the bat. Third while I do think the US is tearing itself apart inside and that schism is likely at some point we are not there yet. There is a group trying to get a non-binding secession referendum on the 2016 ballot in Texas. It is a indication of an intrusive and heavy handed federal government that is becoming more estranged from it's people. Too their credit the founders of this country did envision such a scenario at some point.
