NHL 2015-2016 (The Panthers Stanley Cup Season)
Guard Dog replied to Guard Dog's topic in Way Off-Topic
The Panthers have looked good so far. They thumped the Flyers at home and played them tight in Philly and a playing real well at Carolina. -
You know the thought that has me waking up in a cold sweat every night? Someone who is running for President right now will BE President in 2017. That should scare the hell out of everyone. Is there even one of the current candidates you want to see in office? It's like that line from the Alien vs. Predator movie. No matter who wins, we lose. If you'll excuse me I'm going to go buy some more ammunition, seed packs, canned food, and gold coins.

You have to admit, it's real easy to feel sorry for God. His primary command to us was to love one another. I'd say we pretty well screwed the pooch on that count over the years. But even more look at all the horrible s--t done in the name of the one who told us to love one another. How would you feel if one of your children killed one of their siblings and then said "I did it for you Dad" I think it's probably a lot like that.

At least you won. Funny how that works. I don't watch and they win.

For the record I've always found Columbus Day to be a strange holiday. The man is credited with finding North America. 1) I didn't realize it was lost & 2) Amerigo Vespucci really deserves the credit because he had the good sense not to stop at the first island he found and the place is named for him after all). But if he hadn't crossed the Atlantic someone else would have. Beside it was done to death at that point. The Scandinavians had already done it 400 years earlier and the Chinese before even that. To top the lot Columbus died believing he had reached Asia even though it had been pretty well proven North America was not Asia. So the biggest thing he was credited for was the result of underestimating the size of the Earth and then getting lost. Now there is no question The Europeans treated the natives brutally. But it's worth mentioning the natives treated each other brutally. Anyone who believes the North American Indian tribes would have evolved into a peaceful egalitarian society where everyone was treated fairly and they all danced happily barefoot through fields of daisies has never bothered to learn anything about their history. If you want to find brutality, savagery and racism look no further than the Indians. Yes group A almost wiped out group B. Had circumstances been different group B would have treated group A no different. So what? As Homer wrote in the Iliad "We men are wretched things". Banning the holiday won't change anything and no one will care why your doing it or indeed even notice it was done. So why bother? Unless of course you are just a fan of futile gestures or think doing "something" will make you feel better. Let me save you some trouble: It won't.

Yeah they splash around too much. Scares the fish!

It's a BEAUTIFUL day today. I was going to waste it watching football but nuts to that. I'm taking the dogs, walking down to the river and going fishing!

You guys need to divorce the words Republican and Conservative. They are starting to mean very different things.

Remember that secession thing? We took another step in that direction.

Well Team USAs London vacation will end after they lie down in front of Japan in an hour. I call it vacation because they didn't bother playing any Rugby while they were there. Three matches, three defeats and except for the fist half against Scotland they were big defeats. I head they even lost an exhibition match against the team from the East London School For Underachieving Pre-Teen Girls. But... whatever. So before these guys board a plane and return to whatever jobs they do in real life (for most of them I suspect that involves hamburgers) I hope they stop buy a gift shop and pick up some souvenirs because that will be the only evidence they were ever there.

Its one of those stories when you actually read it you realize its not such a big deal.....you guys need to just learn to accept that people want to immigrate to the USA and there is nothing you can do to stop it so rather learn to embrace it And I'm fine with that. If someone wants to immigrate here, learn the language, assimilate into the culture then we are only to happy to welcome them. The problem is that too many refuse to do either. And they take it to the opposite extreme by demanding we adapt to them. If you want to have a new life in a new place holding yourself apart from you new neighbors and then arrogantly demanding comity all while self segregating only creates hostility.

I don't think the Kim Davis thing really ties into a 1st Amendment thing. She tried to make it that but in reality all that happened is a public official refused to obey the law. I don't think that is deserving to be made into something bigger. A more appropriate choice might be the removal of the 10 commandments monument in Oklahoma.

Careful-- Hurlshot might think you're volunteering! (The two of you are both in NorCal, right?) I would make a pledge to crowdfund this event. I'm in for $20

The House Freedom Caucus is wielding a lot of influence for it's size it seems. I think that is a good thing.

They're ok. If you are sipping they are good for two drinks. But the nice thing about them is they don't melt and dilute the drink. You can even put them in a mug of beer, I'd NEVER put ice in beer. But you want to get the ones with the gel center. They definitely stay cold longer. The first set I bought were solid steel and they didn't get as cold or last as long. I tossed them in the trash when I got the gel center ones.

A bad day, a bad week, a bad month. Tonight I am going to open a bottle of 11 year old Knob Creek single barrel bourbon and I'm taking it, a single lowball glass and a couple of steel ice cubes and I'm going to sit on my porch and count the stars, listen to the owls and howl back at the coyotes the way I used to and haven't done in a very long time. Too long. G'night all.

Sure why not. We'll ban Columbus day. Then all the dead natives will come back to life, we'll roll back the clock to 1492, all the whites will go back to Europe and die of the plague, the natives will continue on with the mighty united civilization they weren't building and it will be like all of this never happened. It all sounds so simple, why didn't we think of it before. But seriously ban it if you want. No one will notice and unless you work in the f-----g post office you weren't getting the day off anyway. If meaningless gestures like this keep the SJWs going one more day without killing themselves from they shame they have no business feeling then ban away.

Today I bought two ticket to see the Panthers play the Preds in Nashville on 12/3. It will likely be the only game I go to so I wanted glass side seats. Had to settle for blue line 3rd row. Still not bad. Prediction: I will be the only one wearing a Panthers jersey that night. And I'm bringing a plastic rat, just in case. -
It's an odd year. You had to know going on SF had no shot. But have no fear, next year ends in an even number.

Total disappointment. Well, if Team USA can beat South Africa next week that will be something. We can't get skunked here!
