The supplies mechanic is bad
Lord_Mord replied to Arnegar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That is why I said, I would combine them with one or more of Arnegars suggestions. What for example about creating additional supplies with a survival ability? You could use that, if you want. But if your the kind of player that wants to play with the limited amount of supplies the game gives you, you could focus on other things, like heal multiplier, damage reduction or whatever. -
The supplies mechanic is bad
Lord_Mord replied to Arnegar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't think that there is a real problem concerning camping supplies. I pay path of the damned and I am not very good at it. But I seldom run out of supplies and if I do, I always know where to find them. But I agree that it is kind of unneccessary, as I can always return to a place where I will find supply. A better way to manage that kind of thing (but I have to admit, that it would be very difficult for the player) would be to not limit the amount of supplies you can take with you, but the amount of supplies available in the game. I like your suggestions, they sound fun. You could rest anytime you needed, but would still feel the need to manage your supplies. Combined with a limited total amount, I would like each of them very much. -
Summoners nerfed hard?

I already knew that, but reading it made me sad anyway. -
Summoners nerfed hard?
Lord_Mord replied to AzuredreamsXT's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I wanted them to be nerfed, but not their duration. The pace of the fights is already pretty fast. -
My wish

Speaking about high fantasy: In my opinion, magical effects could be toned done a lot, too. The bigger fights look like new years eve in Bangkok. Often there are so many red, green, blue and of course violet effects, that I can't see my characters. Unfortunatly there are no medieval real life exammples for that. -
Rant on unique items as requested

In my opinion enchantments and the quality of a weapon have nothing to do with each other. A smith can change the quality of the weapon, a magician can enchant it. A very, very good smith can do both. Maybe. If the player can do it by himself, he needs to be talented in one or both of that things of course. The current system is boring and uninspired as hell. -
The Neverhood, Stubbs the Zombie and Redneck Rampage (Redneckdevil reminded me of this).

I searched for those tracks and found this thread. But the links were dead. So I thought, if anyone else comes here for the same reason, she/he won't have to search the internet for over an hour, like I did.

Oh and by the way: Monkey Island.

I think these are the two tracks created by Williams: http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames2/planetquake/bgchronicles/torment/off/ Nice mood, but a bit generic, if you ask me. This is the trailer. It was on the Baldurs Gate Discs. I installed that game a lot of times

Vancian magic
Lord_Mord replied to haveahappy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I came up with a question a while ago (Ignore my english, I'm drunk): Why is everybody against rest spamming? Basically rest spamming equals per encounter. So in a system like BG2 everybody can get what he/she wants. The per encounter fraction can rest spam and get per encounter spells with no cost, the others try to stay alive until they used all their spells. -
In my opinion the caster classes in PoE are both overpowered and boring. Not enough to make my dislike them, but not what I expect from them either. Most spells are just damage or buffing. Nothing interesting or tricky. In a world with gunpowder I dont need a caster to create a fireball. Magic does not necessarily have to be "epic", in my opinion magic is gaining great power from simple things. Illusions, charming, that kind of stuff. Two things, that I associate with mages: Specialized and untouchable. The warrior-mage type IMHO should stay a curiosity.

PoE 2.
Lord_Mord replied to tedmann12's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think I remember Josh Sawyer fantasizing about the Mage Battles in BG2. Maybe it was someone else. But I think, they will continue the story to allow more complex spells like time stop, chain spells and stuff. And if they do that would be great. Fireball, Icerain, Whateverdamage is pretty basic. If I wanted just that, I could play Diablo. In my opionion, leveling up on higher levels should bring you less talents, but better and more interesting ones. Less damage and more cool tricks. And I would like to see PoE2+3 at least. -
Camera angle in PoE vs BG2
Lord_Mord replied to Ineth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Nobody cares. Still nobody cares. Did I mention, that nobody cares? Your dialogues are very, very annoying. And you are by far the worst of you two, because you always initiate those dialogues. Sensuki can at least be ignored. It's harder to ignore the tiolet-paper-like wall of nobodycares that you produce, once you have started talking. And everytime somebody wants to tell you, you start arguing with him. Just try not to talk to Sensuki. And dont answer anything that is adressed to you. Noone wants you to. They just want you to shut up and stay on topic. -

That's what the players requested. They wouldn't have changed stealth and perception, but everyone complained about it. How could they know, before the release? Most players think, it was a good decision. So, what's wrong about it?
