  1. what? you look that up in your 'official goth handbook'? i really like to flame, and edit posts, but im not. i wish you would try to be somewhat mature and drop it. you see, this is what happens when you are raised from a bad home, and are told that you are always right and how your so wonderful. anyway, a 'radical'? this is a forum you retard! nobody is shocked or uphauled that a 10 year old boy is posting lines from a dictionary! so, at least try to act mature young man Ahh. Perhaps I should point out that all your arguments are rather lame and non-sensical, and certainly not indicative of intelligence. (Do you know that word, 'indicative'?)
  2. We aren't romans... we can't predict when we'll fall or transform into something else. One things for certain: The US won't exist forever in it's current form. Keep in mind that Rome does have a certain amount of immortality still, despite the abuses of dictators. (It was the lazy dictators and the government failing to do what was necessary) You could argue based on the facts that Rome didn't really last due to it's government, either. Politics were WAAY more drastic and people had less to do with politicians back then.
  3. As much as I respect your arguements... You might as well say devs shouldn't spend so much time trying to develop the main character, because dev's don't do that anyway, or the main character needs to be a bad-arse villain buster (and little else of character) because that's all gamers want. I TOTALLY disagree, though I admit that particular example has truth to it even for KotOR. Maybe there shouldn't be any familial relationships with the main character? Those sure as heck can't be depicted properly. You grow up with them - how can that be shown properly? The video gamer can't go through the main character's life in every game. Fable, sure, but that's a different breed. I would go so far ast to state, maybe games shouldn't have any close ties to characters, but that would totally obliterate what story video games had. Hmm... Don't romances (the idea that the main character is in a non-platonic relationship with a female character) move the plot in another direction, give meaning to the overall action? It certainly did in KotOR. Ton's of people thought the romances were perfectly effective - why? They can fill in the blanks that can't be done. You don't need ALL the details, just enough for you to understand what's going on and how it pertains to the story.
  4. Ahh, here's how I shoulda put it: (though I'm sort of expecting you to get real defensive again) Your artwork isn't anything special. I've seen comparable work all over the internet. It's neat that you share, but if people no like - what the heck does it matter to you? You're having fun, and maybe some people will have fun with you toying with the same idea. Honestly, that's what any artist does, no matter how good or bad. Did you know that tolkien didn't expect his first book to be read, much less enjoyed, by only a handful of people, IF that? Where is he today? The One Ring in LOTR has meaning to it; lightsabers and the jedi have meaning to them in star wars; Asimov's robots had LOTS of and all SORTS of meaning to them. Cybernetics in the waywe're talking on this forum, err... not really any meaning, in this case. The only "meaning" behind it has nothing to do with KotOR, the story or the characters. Anyway... I really encourage the drawing, but if you're just doing it for your own fascination with cyborg gun arms, realize you're going to run into a brick wall with people who don't care about it. (in other words, brush it off when people complain about your work being contrived. People tend to think everything is contrived that they don't like, anyway)
  5. It's a different time period, yes... Malak doesn't exist. It's a different enough time period for Dantooine to be totally different, the Jedi Council is evaporated for the time... etc. Saying that putting sleyheron in the sequel would be reusing content is like saying the LOTR movies just reused content from the book. Well, sure, they used the plot.. but the shooting, the acting... They put tattooine in the first game. Are you saying they just "reused" content from the movies? No, I agree they shouldn't use anything previously thought of JUST TO MAKE THINGS SIMPLER. But they're putting dantooine in, so why not sleyheron? Also, sleyheron hasn't been used before, so they CAN change it as they see fit. Why not? It hasn't been published, has it?
  6. ROFL. Anyone experience the terribleness that is the gamespy language filter?
  7. If you're doing it for other people to enjoy, well... repeating some theme like that that doesn't have any (universal)character to it is going to hit a brick wall with anyone that doesn't care for that theme. It's really not a matter of if it's possible, it's if it's plausible and seems like something that WOULD happen - COULD happen is fine, sure. Think about it this way: if luke or darth vader had gotten their missing hands replaced by lightsabers, would that have the same character as if they both just had normal cybernetic hands? No. That would reek of a kid who reads too many crappy (in some people's opinions) comic books - that's what he has a problem with. Not you drawing it, not in the sense you take it. It would honestly feel false and forced by someone's fanaticism for cybernetic stuff, and that's what he's criticizing. It's an expression of what he thinks - if you took it the way it were intended, there'd be nothing there to hurt you in it. He really isn't criticizing you in the way you think he is. And believe me the problem isn't that it's a foreign idea - but rather that it's been done too much. As he said about anime and such, well... I'll let HIS talking do the rest.
  8. And how would you know they used bioware's notes? Well, seriously considering the comment that they really didn't want anyone thinking they were re-using content (In reference to dantooine or other possible re-visits) they would make the worlds very different from the first one. If it was cut so early in production, what's there to re-use? Besides that, it's a different time period, different things are going on in the galaxy... they'd have to start over again, I'd think.
  9. Well, you saying I said that is about as good as me saying he basically announced it in the first place. I didn't mean that he was racist, or was doing this for religious purposes. He might not have known he did, but that's what he did. He phrased something like, "yes, this is the good christian west fighting terrorist muslims" in a way that sounded too close for comfort to... well... what that sounds like. That's a problem when your president (main representative and diplomat for the american people) can't speak english clearly. (that's not to say anything about his intelligence... I'm really not) I could understand it perfectly fine, even far leftist liberals (which I guess you could call me... though not really) could for the most part. In the sensitive position that we were at, that's what it meant.
  10. They need one to skip Taris.
  11. When did I say he announced holy war on islam?
  12. I guess that means you know a lot about this.
  13. unless you're computer is crap. Like mine is. *sigh*
  14. Where are you guys in writing up the story? No details, necessarily, but I want to be reassured the story will at least be complete in concept by the time the game is out . Sketching stages? Are the character interaction dialogues planned out? What about they're subquests, and the side-quests in general?
  15. I think passion and emotion are oversimplifications of what actually happens with people. President Bush basically announces that this is a holy war against Islam. The Jihad is a big deal in that religion. President Bush pushes us into a spot where we're being blamed for the ME's problems right now. Passion? I'm sure, but to say ANY passion is devoid of reason is total nonsense. It has reason, just not reason we understand, not being passionate about whatever particular thing. Excuse the political references. If you feel like arguing politics, I don't really give a crap. Go ejaculate propaganda elsewhere. Sure, feel free to say something in your own posts that involves politics, but that's not the subject of this message. Where are the mod's on this forum, anyway?
  16. More time to rebuild than Taris, though. A few more years, to be exact, and seeing that Carth was on a relief team there, we have a confirmed capable workforce. But yeah, I agree. Unlikely.
  17. I think the alleged 'twist' was how it ended. I sort of liked it, even if it wasn't an amazing idea. I didn't predict ages ahead of time, though. "Another sort of evil" to fight this major threat wasn't what I had in mind at the ending.
  18. Doesn't to me. Taris skyscrapers were all rounded, these have lots of jagged semi-random edges. Maybe taris is in the process of being rebuilt, but I can't imagine they still have the population for a giant skyscraper city. Check out 47 and 53 of 60 on the X-box screens of the official site. Compare that to 11 and 10 of 28 on the swkotor_sithlords site. Also, do you see any of those trademark round landing pads of taris? There's just that one docking port, with what I assume to be a flying car in it's bay. You're stating that it's the Taris tileset. Considering that KotOR doesn't even use tilesets, It's pretty difficult to reuse tilesets for the sequel. Skylines, maybe, but I think those screenshots above pretty much prove that wrong. Maybe you're looking at other screenshots, but I imagine those are old. I can't see them putting TWO dark city worlds in the game, but maybe. I figure whatever screenshot you're looking at is an earlier version before they had made their own skyline, and were using the Taris skyline for a placeholder. Maybe it's the vertical lighting that reminded you of Taris? It doesn't really matter. Look at some of those other LA screenshots. Do you remember ever being a Jedi on taris, fighting Sith at the places that it shows in those screenshots? Another idea: Could it be Telos? I dunno. No one's suggested it, maybe because it's a stupid idea for some reason. Coruscant could be much different, couldn't it? Blah. Regardless, the architecture looks VERY very evil to me. Imposing, sharp, dark, dimly lit. Except for that it doesn't look like an undercity, unless the undercity here is just below the canopy of the forest of skyscrapers. I don't remember coruscant in the movies looking that dark.
  19. If there's one city planet, I'm sure there would be others.
  20. I like the idea of individual missions having darkness/lightness depending on where it is in the story line. I don't really much care one way or another for weather and day/night, though it is pretty nifty. Is it really that much more realistic to be walking around day and night, 24/7, only resting when you absolutely have to? (Which tends to be in the daytime half the time.) All three of the games you mentioned are a complete snore to me. Real life is just fine; I do that every day. There's night and day, realistic running water and streams, sunlight that hits things just right, I get tired, I have to eat and go to the bathroom. But entertainment is entertainment. It takes out some of those things as needed and unnecessary to the mood of the piece, and it's been established in fiction of every sort for centuries. If they don't have a proper resting behavior, they shouldn't bother with day/night cycles in my opinion. To me, that's like "Are they totally incapable of sleeping?" Whereas in KotOR I I was occasionally annoyed by the fact that there was constant daylight, no designated downtime. If they had added night/day cycles without sleeping cycles, it would have brought to my attention quite a bit more (as happened in NWN) that this was just a faulty trick. If there's no reason for a particle simulation of water except cosmetics, make it an illusion. That's what fiction is.
  21. Well, sure, but it didn't have nearly the features and possibility it claimed to on release.
  22. LA won't be pushing the deadlines for the dev's. *Cough* *COUGH* It's possible Obsidian won't be finished as well as they wanted to be, or anyone else wanted them to be, but the deadline will stay the same.
  23. Possibly to make the Sith look elsewhere for the self-exiled jedi master's, instead of besieging an almost totally defenseless Republic when they least needed it. Another incentive to leave is to actually PROTECT the outer rim - they might scatter across the galaxy to build up resistance forces and hassle the disorganized sith war lords. Blech, we'll find out eventually. That's the fun of it.
  24. Well, 99 percent of the Sith in the game were covered head to toe in armor anyway
