Just making sure. I have to keep everyone in line from making any false conclusions, you know -

Small suggestion to the Devs

did I remember that encounter wrong or something? -
Anyone have sample's of this guys work? the list of titles he has under his belt isn't impressive, but it IS pretty much all star wars stuff. I guess what's more important is how good his stuff actually sounds. Anyone know where I can find a sample or something?

Small suggestion to the Devs

As I remember it, he freezes you, she comes in and saves you (you're completely frozen - you don't have much of a chance against him there, do you? Though I don't understand why he didn't that in the final encounter, on the STAR FORGE of all places. The whole freezing thing seemed really cheesy) because you're frozen. That makes sense, I guess. But the effort it takes to make it make sense... hmm... that scene was still bad, whether or not she did it to save you realistically. -

One thing I hated about the LS/DS issues in KOTOR
nightcleaver replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I agree with that point. I mean seriously, you can't even beat her around a bit with the Force, or stop her with force push/pull? No, I think that's purely based on time constraints and such. These aren't amateur writer's here. Still, I can see where you're going. Is it just the inconsistency that bothers you, or do you really dislike the choice? Would it have worked better for you if there was struggle for choosing the opposite path? Inward struggle, and maybe you talk to whatever henchman are alive and with you? If you're dark side, it's possible that you have absolute loyalty to the republic, as the former revan did, regardless of the costs. If you're lightside, you might have grown absolute loyalty to Bastila, and/or the temptation and struggle against the darkside finally faltered near the star forge, which is part of what, according to jolee, probably contributed largely to Bastila's own fall. Would you have preferred there wasn't any excuse for that, even? -
Wait a second....
nightcleaver replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I was imagining this in dim lights on the hawk in the asteroid, the droids working on getting it working Yeah, maybe it starts off asking if you knew Revan, then it asks something that suggests gender. Then they suggest romances, and who is redeemed/who dies by what path they took. -
Wait a second....
nightcleaver replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Actually, that's exactly what I was suspecting. Though now that someone else says that, it does sound like it would be a neat, nostalgic conversation. Maybe Kreia is getting together a force to fight the Sith, she knows or finds out you knew Revan, and asks you questions to figure out some things about how it all started? Although.. err... I get the impression Revan is a VERY changed person in KotOR as opposed to the mandalorian wars, so I don't know how realistic that would be. Still, it's possible I suppose. What would be more realistic, but less direct and interesting, would be if they had conversations about what revan was like, and your responses would shape where that conversation went, and what Revan did even as you talked about it. -
KotorII side/mini games
nightcleaver replied to Jedi Master's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, I hope he's teasing or something, and I'd suggest he is. Whether or not it's intended that way, though, he's taken it completely out of context. You write a lot of responses, but err... you don't really spam. -

I think people are totally ignoring one of my points. Note, I only suspect. If they had done something as in Fallout or HotU, and said what happened because of your choices, this wouldn't be a problem now. Use your imagination; imagine if it would be different if they had done that. If you still feel unsatisfied, then I don't understand what the problem is, and that's MY problem... but the mechanics of communication and psychology would say it's your problem too, as your arguments are hitting a brick wall with me and anyone else with my perspective. -
I think the basic idea around what they ARE improving is this : every character, every skill, get's it's time in the spotlight. They've established that they'll be trying to make every skill more used, unless I'm thinking of a different game. Right now, though, I can't think of another game I'd be thinking of - this is the only one I'm really looking for ward to. It's fine, if you didn't know/ didn't see this, or I'm just making stuff up. bringing something up to the developers is good.

A Map Editor after or around release
nightcleaver replied to Legion5's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think it's overlooked, and if a dev were to come here there answer would be simple: not enough time or resources. Personally, I'd prefer they spent their time improving the core gameplay instead of making a toolset so people could make a whole lot of amateurish mods. Lots more content, but not very good quality, in my opinion.. -
what are you doing with your free time?
nightcleaver replied to Gromnir's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hmm... I've read that too, roguefrog. I've never known a sequel that did much more than that. NPC's and their functionality ... they have their own quests, their own uses, and every time you play through the game you have different NPC's. One example of, as was talked about in another thread, more choice as well. They'll have more saber colors, which is minor. They'll have more feats; more animations is a biggy. They ARE improving the graphics of the engine, though how much is impossible to know as of yet. They're giving an overhaul of the inventory system. They're adding force powers, and from what I gather that's not just a few force powers, that's a lot of force powers. They'll have new art, new areas - ALL new art and aLL new areas, not just rehashed tilesets. They've made that perfectly clear. It WILL be it's own game, don't worry about it. STill, it is possible that they'll fail in a lot of these things - as I've found time and time again with my home work, if I don't do it, it doesn't get done. Half Life 2, Valve predicted BEFORE THEY HAD EVEN MADE THE SCRIPTS that their AI was revolutionary. Nothing that these guys have said sounds like that, though. This all sounds reasonable. I guess we do have to realize the sequel might not be very good, but let's put it this way - Either way, whether you think it'll turn out poorly or well, you're accepting that assumption on faith, not hard facts. Maybe it's just me, but all I see people doing here is worrying eachother into a frenzy. I hope they surprise us big-time with how much actually turns out to be finished at E3. -
I'm fairly certain that you DO meet him as an NPC at some point, but that could just be rumour. I don't remember anything being said about for how long or on what circumstances though, and I think that's the kind of thing they'd hide from us.

What do you mean it made his fall easier? Who's fall? I was talking about someone saying the little LS things would make the Light side choice easier. -

nightcleaver replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ermm... cause and effect is pretty much impossible to discern here. You're saying it's because of his actions, but I would suspect it's more along the lines of that there's some good in him all along that creates hesitations. However, there's the issue of people defining themselves according to their actions - Bastila, Star Forge, having trouble accepting her redemption. I'm not sure really if anyone could pin point that because he did minor things, it made the choice easier. -
-
I concur on all accounts. I'm not sure where, but I've actually seen another picture of her that looked almost child-like. She is most definitely not middle-aged. I can see how, based on the picture on the official announcement, people would get that idea by her facial structure. However, my brother (in his early twenties) occasionally looks way older than his age just by virtue of his mood.

Revan had no personality. I wouldn't care one way or another.

I have a bad feeling about KOTOR 2.....

Ok. Just be more clear. I didn't want you to be impartial, just to not use words like you were an impartial, omniscient judge. -
One thing I hated about the LS/DS issues in KOTOR
nightcleaver replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Here's what I'm thinking: One side is seeing a problem with having a temple choice, the other with not having it. However, the side that want's no temple choice is going about it the wrong way, I think. They think it's because of that choice that your previous choices don't matter. That's wrong. There are ways to make your choices matter, and in fact they do matter - just not for the ending. I, personally, really REALLY wish they had done something like fallout and HotU where there was a monologue at the end explaining what happens to the characters/ places, but I understand that's not very star wars. I don't see why that matters, as it would make everyone happy and this argument wouldn't be an issue right now. It's a game - in the star wars movies, the viewer's choice didn't matter, but in a gamethe PLAYER's choice does. You have a right to voice your opinion, but it's offensive when that opinion overrides all other opinions. I see no problem with the temple choice, especially considering the time and resource constraints they were dealing with, to limit the amount of video they'd have to record. It did make it feel like your choices didn't matter before that point, but they DID - it's just that you didn't get any feedback is the problem. I know people might be bothered by this, but so what: essentially, after each stated their own opinion, their "supporting facts" were BS to make people understand. The only thing it succeeded in doing, though was to make a stupid argument. I hope you see that. -
Do not go the "all endings happened" route plz.
nightcleaver replied to xtrazx75's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You know, I hate this. I say one thing, someone repeats what *I* said, and everyone concurs. *sigh* I agree. But I don't remember any time them actually giving that characterization, but I'm not the star wars geek some are. What I was saying is that people aren't very careful about how they perceive things. I think it's more the fault of the perceiver than the disseminator of information, because it really couldn't be made more clear without totally changing the meaning. -
heh. Maybe make him a little bit rickety, or a robot doofus. I could seriously see that, with his head that moves around like a socketed joint. If he get's damaged or something, that could account for it. Obviously nothing that would affect gameplay, just random dialogues and such. Maybe he goes, "Bee Boop CRSSSHHHH" or something with really crazy pitches, and everyone has a little trouble understanding his particular robot talk. Then he'd make robot curses at himself... hmm...
