Maybe. I cannot read minds. I would certainly feel differently if it was something they had made that was part of the game and not one of hundreds of pieces of backer fluff. It is entirely possible they had not had time to accurately review everything or didn't really have time to think about it. That is, after all, what they actually said happened.

Or maybe Obsidian didn't like it. It was kind of in poor taste even if every LGBTWTFBBQ didn't want to storm Obsidian with pitchforks. Ultimately they have their name on it, it is their speech, if they wanted to get rid of it then no biggie. It impacted game content exactly 0%. Sort of funny there is a person wanting to murder all transmen would be so defensive of trans issues but hey, I don't really care what that person has to say unless they show up here.

So there were a few bugs at release. Patches are coming. Same as any other game. The game will ultimately be judged by how stable it is after a few weeks have passed.

The worst sin was that they setup this big 'technology versus magic' mechanic and it was barely a factor in the combat. You fought hordes of giant animals for the most part.

You just cannot expect good combat and interesting battles from Bioware anymore. In Origins, an original IP where they could have done anythin, there was very little variety in the types of creatures you could fight. Now it wasn't so bad for just that game but one of my big concerns with this franchise was this problem. In BG2 they seemed to be trying to include every obscure monster that ever existed in D&D (I mean practically the entire Planescape bestiary at least got a cameo) so it is puzzling. There are only so many humans, darkspawn, and demons you want to fight. But again their games are not really about thought provoking plots and RPG elements. They are about cheese and melodrama. And hey it is pretty cool somebody is bringing the soap opera RPG-esque games. That is a niche I have never seen filled in western-RPGs. That is fun but not the Bioware we used to know.

I want this game fully voiced by people with thick New Jersey accents.

People keep saying this, but no it's not. Not coming from Gamespot, which operate on a 6-10 scale with inflated value on a triple AAA publishers. That is really the key point isn't it? This is not a big publisher game (I mean I like Paradox but I don't think they have that big of a cache yet). This is Indy-ish. In that context 8/10 is a good score. If this was a AAA budget game backed up by a powerful publisher that would be a disastrous score.

Game journalists are pretty much glorified bloggers (and not even that glorified) I think what he actually says about the game is more important than his rating. I would want to know his biases and how relevant his opinions are going to be to mine. But for a non-big publisher game 8/10 is a good score.

Eh she doesn't look like a man. At least most men do not wear that much eyeliner and lipstick. Though her voice actress is gorgeous, they just have just scanned her face and used that. But they wanted to make a badass chick and I am alright with that. My wife is a badass. But anyway I have been thinking a bit about DA and ME since I have been playing PoE and why I got so disillusioned with them in ME2 and DA:O Awakenings. I think the problem was I went in thinking I was playing games from a company that made games like BG2 and ME1 and so had a hard time seeing things like tone and lore and mechanics messed with so much. Bioware was a company I expected to make hard core RPGs. So it was weird to see such dis concern with things I thought were important. Even worse the tactical and strategic difficulty really went down the tubes. I had it in my mind they made interesting challenges and always played their games on the highest difficulty levels. But I barely broke a sweat beating ME2 on insanity and I had not played a FPS (well besides ME1) since Castle Wolfenstein in the early 90s. I was like 'really?' But they are about making cheesy soap opera RPGs with simplistic mechanics. And that's ok. I like cheese. I just didn't like Bioware making cheese. But they have been making cheese now for so long I should just stop worrying and enjoy the cheese so I think at some point I am going to start playing their games again. I just cannot be expecting a fun RPG gaming experience with attempts at serious writing. Time to make peace with Bioware. They are who they are now. But damn it inXile and Obsidian better not start making cheese. They have to carry the flame.

Thank goodness I don't live in such a totalitarian country as you do. "Mandatory sensitivity training" for a joke? This reminds me of the wost communist times in Poland... If this is the depth of American PC craziness, you can keep it to yourself. As an American I can say you really only see this stuff on twitter and their ilk. And lots of those involved are not Americans. But it seems the mere presence of twitter makes us a Communist Dictatorship. Lunacy.

It is a triumph and a joy. If you have ever enjoyed games similar to this one you should absolutely get it. It is not perfect but most of the problems I think come from inventing a new system of mechanics and so forth and should get better with x-pacs and sequels. Money well spent.

Whatever those two things are, are they fixed in the 1.0.3? The patch notes said they were. I was hoping the patch took care of any dangerous bugs.

Yep. I thought they were easily manageable. I hoped it would be an easy thing to fix them.
