  1. This reminds me of the new vacuumcleaner that we bought for our house. On the back of the manual, it was written with a large bold font: "DO NOT TRY TO VACUUM FIRE". I never understood the need of putting it there. I do now.
  2. Fanboys are annoying at best. NWN2 sure has a couple warranted problems, such as the camera(jesus!), the production value, some minor gameplay bugs and it hasn't the most unique story ever. But i like it more than NWN1 atleast
  3. I disagree. They have turned into a shallow, Michael Bay-version of RPG developing. KotOR worked because it was a nice ode to the original trilogy. JE didn't work at all since the plot was the most basic kung-fu rip-off that there is.
  4. With age comes wisdom. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not necessarily. If wisdom means "I read on the news that Oblivion is the best RPG ever, therefore it is true", then i want no part of it.
  5. What exactly is wrong with Mass Effect's dialog? It's an emotional based dialog system ... You have various emotional replies to choose from and then the character does the real dialog that corresponds to your choice. I don't see how that's any reflection on "console controls", or having the entire dialog tree consist of "one-liners and short replies". It's a great way to keep the dialog moving forward - closer to what would happen in the real world, instead of having pauses while you read through 90 words just to pick the reply you want. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No one is thinking that the idea of having "real-time, emotional responses" as a bad design choice. But with Bioware's recent trackrecord in terms of substance, this very feature leaves many worried that Bioware will turn Mass Effect into a Halo with stats and adhd-responses for the graphicwh*re-generation. Phew, i think i went on a 'codex parade there...
  6. Why even bother posting this crap. Speak up for yourself and stand by your own opinions, if they are strong enough you won't need the help of others. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WTF? Keywords Independant reviews! sigh, why even bother arguin with kids...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> First: The same independent reviews that claimed Black & White, Gears of War and especially Oblivion being the best ever? I disagree with them. Second: Am i and everyone else a kid for disagreing with you because they share another opinion about a game? And can't come up with anything else than throwing the label "kid"? Very mature.
  7. I'll wait with the PS3 for the following reasons: 1. I'm from europe. No PS3 here until march 2007 the earliest (summer seems more likely) 2. No Heavenly Sword, no F1, no Motorstorm, no Final Fantasy, no Metal Gear Solid and no other RPG at the moment either. 3. No need for the "next-generation" features such as HD and Blu-Ray when you you don't care about buying a HDTV in the near future. Xbox360 has GoW, but it doesn't interest me. Wii FTW!
  8. Errr, previous experience of the Fallout theme and design is always a plus
  9. Just as I thought. I've heard somewhere before that LA said they see the KotOR franchise as a successful and on going one. To me, going by what this person from LA has said, there will be a KotOR III for sure. It's the closest thing to an official announcement. And my prediction about when it will come out will probably turn out to be quite accurate, as I'm predicting a late 2008/early 2009 release for the game, which is most likely when the game will come out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, as previously stated: Mr. Avellone had a third installment in mind when writing the story of KotOR II and stating several times that he wants to finish it. Also, Feargus has said that Obsidian are eager to make a KotOR III, they're just waiting for the green light from Lucasarts. Now ofcourse, would be the best time to start working on it, since NWN2 has just been finished
  10. It looks like you're running with software rendering. Are you sure that you got your graphics-drivers/directX properly installed?
  11. I think that this has to do with some universities being private in the US, compared to public in most of europe. When it's a private institution and the students are there on your (board of members) mercy + and everything there (facilities, books, computers, labs) are bought with private money, not public funding. This leads to a situation that learning and seeking of knowledge is a private property that needs to be protected by law enforcement. I found the very concept a bit hard to grasp.
  12. It doesn't. It emulates an Xbox, which already had some serious slowdowns at the Mandalorian camp. Emulation is considered the hardest thing to code in the gaming industry, and if the emulation isn't good enough, then we're at your situation.
  13. ...and we're up to build 0.7b7
  14. Bubble Bobble! (w00t)
  15. I wasn't implying that Gears of War combat == Mass Effect combat. I merely said that they were similar. And yes, i hope that it will not be the same as Bloodlines either.
  16. I don't know, trigger-happy combat which is similar to gears of war is a little bit a hit or miss IMO. Remember Bloodlines?
  17. Got the video to work for me though. Looks like the combat has become even more action-oriented.
  18. In reality, a large amount of area content (and some companion content -- poor Casavir) was cut. EDIT: Also, features. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is so sad to hear. If there was to be an expansion, would this stuff be brought back in? Or perhaps we need to rely on modders to restore it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had very same idea. Why not add it in an expansion? Especially the features.
  19. At this point i have no idea on when i will finish, still going slow and steady though.
  20. Funny, my pet peeve is people who look at Bill Hicks as their infallible, truth-speaking Lord God and Savior. People do that with John Lennon all the time too. It's all kinds of ironic, because I would have thought Bill Hicks would have detested anybody who didn't think for themselves. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now, now. I was joking, hence the smiley. Bill Hicks works great as an inspiration, but taking his words as a foundation for ones reality and point of views is insane. I though that the original message of thinking for yourself came through pretty on during his antics.
  21. "...or NWN decided to hate you from the start", meaning that his current setup and NWN2 aren't compatible. I didn't mean that there was a of code in NWN2 that said: if (computer.id == GetId.ToString(Roshan)) { initialize.RandomError = true; UnexplainedCrash(); } else { initialize.RunningPerfectly = true; } Every game has a lot of errors, i couldn't even run the original KotOR until patch 1.03 because of the memory-leaks.
  22. My girlfriend just started playing it on her computer. It has the following specs: Amd 64 3000+, 1 GB RAM and a Geforce 7600GS 512mb RAM. She played it on with the following settings: 1024x768 resolution, textures set to high, max viewing distance, 512 shadows per scene and water reflection set to off, and get this, the performance was good. No crashes, 30+ fps most of the time and loading times were no more than 20 seconds. Something is seriously wrong with your computer, or NWN2 decided to hate you from the start.
  23. The ones that i liked (anime only): Series: - Berserk (Fantasy, but without the magic. Ruthless and brutal) - Cowboy Bebop (Future Sci-fi) - Hellsing (If you want to see a anti-hero that is bad-ass beyond comprehension) - HunterXHunter (Adventure) - Escaflowne (A blend of fantasy, samurais, mechas and a little philosophy) - Full Metal Alchemist (The initial plot seems silly, but the characters makes you hooked) - Rurouni Kenshin (A story of a man named Kenshin, the legendary Hitikiri Battousai, who tries to find a new life in a world where the samurai-caste i abolished) - Samurai deeper Kyo (Same as Hellsing, but the story takes place in 17th-century japan, and ofcourse with samurais) - Samurai Champloo (Samurais again, but more of a comedy) - Neon Genesis Evangelion (I don't really find it great, but it's a must see nevertheless. Have fun figuring out the ending though) Some hit/or miss series: - Naruto (Ninjas! but only the first 135 episodes, the rest are bad, really bad. Wait until the anime starts following the manga again) - Bleach (It's about a 17 year old boy "accidently" becoming a Shinigami, a "death god" by japanese mythology, but very comical at times. The main story ends at episode 62, wait until it continues when they start to follow the manga again) Movies: - The Grave of Fireflies (This one can make even thoughest guy shed a tear, saddest movie of any spectrum) - Ninja Scroll (Very mature and dark movie about, well, Ninjas!) - Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (Very well drawn, it doesn't insult the viewer) Some of my favourite characters: Gatsu, Berserk Alucard, Hellsing Zakari Kenpachi, Bleach //EDIT: Except for maybe Hellsing and Cowboy Bebop, never, NEVER watch an dubbed anime. 99% of the times the story and characters are destroyed because of sloppy voice-overs. Watch the originals with japanese dubs and english subtitles.
  24. I've just played a couple of hours, but the story and the overall feel dances around the original NWN1 OC. I couldn't even finish the original OC, because i found it so incredibly boring. It seems like this: If you liked, no more like loved, NWN1, you will hate this game, since it feels and plays very differently than the original. But on the other hand, if you loathed or found NWN1 to be boring, chance are that you will probably like NWN2 (This doesn't apply to Volourn, mind you). I had the same thoughts about UT2003 when it was released, i expected the regular + better graphics, sound and new levels. But what i got was a completely different game (even in atmosphere), and loathed it, since i thought that UT99 was the perfect online-game.
