  1. Why the surprise? I'd have no problem with them using it even if it appears in AoC. In fact, one might say that this grants credibility to the outfit, which is in and of itself, not entirely original in the first place. Oriental-Style robes and the hairstyle have been seen in plenty of places, it's just less common to see them on a non-asian.
  2. Bad Tanuvein. No Carth-Atton escapades for you.
  3. One of the main issues I have about this isn't the lack of a "Gray Side Mastery", because in all honesty the stat boosts aren't extraordinarily substantial. Especially in KOTOR2 where your power level is through the roof no matter how you screw with your stats. No, the issue, for me at least, is that you can't qualify for a prestige class unless you're 75% committed to light or dark... Alas.
  4. No, I'm pretty sure you can't, though that head was already in the game files. They probably planned to put it in as a later influence-related event, but didn't have enough time to do it.
  5. Yah, as I said, I don't think Mira gives you any stat boosts.
  6. Woah. Good work, as usual, E.
  7. I'll go with option A.
  8. That's just you making assumptions. In fact I'm modding the game to put back in the level 20 cap, and adjust the XP-level table and PrC script to reflect that. That, so far. When I get some playtesting done I might get into some more serious rebalancing. That's not 'advanced' in any way, more like the opposite. You see, I'm not too hard to please. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I stuck to unmodded items with my Guardian/Weapon master and still swept through the game without breaking a sweat. And there were a few fights in K1 where you could actually die if you charged blindly (the trandoshan encounter in Yavin, for instance). There is no such risk in K2, as things are. But still, the item upgrades are part of the game, and as such, they should be taken into consideration as part of the game balance equation. Artificial gimping to make the game more challenging isn't any better than powergaming. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've finally read this thread, and I've gotta side with l337 on this issue. I want to think, not click. I recently sat down and reinstalled BG2 after beating KOTOR2 three times, and realizing that I could take on dark jedi and sith lords unarmed on the highest difficulty, without using anything other than force speed. I pretty much vowed that I wanted to play a hard game again. So I installed BG2 and Throne of Bhaal and downloaded all of the David Gaider content to buff up the five in ToB. Now that I'm trudging through SoA, I have to say, it's refreshing to think again. My character is a no-brains Paladin, but I still have to think about positioning and area effect spells from my casters as well as formations to block enemy movements, etc. Yeah, I've died a few times. And I like it. The enemies aren't grotesquely overpowered, they just have some excellent scripting. Basically I wish the difficulty slider in some way affected scripting rather than just raw stats and damage. I'm a thinker. I usually play mages, but in KOTOR2, the Consular was a joke. You don't need to be a thinker to play one, you just need to find force storm's icon and click on it repeatedly until the problem goes away. I'm not going to touch SWD20's system for Jedi and force users. They're still powerful, but yes, the Vitality Point loss for using powers means that you're at least a little more judicious than entering a room and using force lightning. Generally this is because force lightning is comparatively weak to a lightsaber, which I honestly believe should be the case. The emperor fried Luke several times with force lightning, but a single lightsaber swing would have killed him, this is most definitely not the case in KOTOR2. BTW, l337, if you come across a promising mod or want someone to playtest your difficulty mods or whatever, contact me. I'd be grateful for a challenge.
  9. Well, this is SW, remember? The place where a bunch of .5 meter teddy bears armed with spears and slings can defeat 'a whole legion of my best men'. Yeah, well. The same could be applied to the Jedi robes, but those you can even upgrade with assorted underlays to protect from stuff. Last time I checked, I couldn't upgrade my shirts with an asbestos underlay. Anyway, that doesn't explain why you consider Mira's *hawt* outfit 'terrible'. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> l337, I think we can rest assured that clearly Aurora is JEALOUS of t3h -hawtness- that is Mira's outfit. Also, I'm of the opinion that the whole endor battle with the ewoks was a SHAM. A conspiracy.
  10. Immature stupidity demands that I reply: w00t yeah! That T3 is one hott piece of durasteel. He sure has a fine set of... wheels? YEAH. T3 for life!1one. Yo.
  11. Another fan of the Jedi Academy theme here. I heard that and it really made me feel like I was returning to a place that my Light Sider had fond memories of, and that it was time for me to face my fears and speak to the council. Also, I liked some of the varied battle music on the different planets. That was one thing I noticed on my first playthrough, were the changes in the battle music, which kept things pretty fresh, as some of the tunes were memorable. But yeah, the low quality really detracted from the experience. Of course, the only place where I felt truly encompassed by the music (aside from late game at the ruins of the Jedi academy) was the launch menu. Which is, of course, the only time when the game's music is presented in stereo instead of mono.
  12. Best post. Ever.
  13. Playing the Dark Side initially made me feel pretty dirty in KOTOR1. The Ithorian getting taunted by the kids was a tough place for me, too. The toughest place by far for me was Kashyyk, though. I couldn't bring myself to side with that pitiful worm of a wookiee and sided with Zaalbar and fought for wookiee freedom. That was the only place where I got LSPs in the original. In Kotor2 it became a little easier to be evil and not feel like a terrible person, but I had played DS through KOTOR1 so many times that I had honestly become desensitized, I guess. I generally have a hard time trying to face Kavar. I honestly really like him. I thought he was a really cool guy and seemed like the only honorable Jedi left in the game. I especially liked his role as an advisor to the queen. It was fun to watch those cutscenes, reminds me of Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan in Episodes I and II. I'm thinking of playing through and just choosing what I feel at the time, I.E. not going in with a preconceived concept of "Oh, I wanna be Light/Dark". The problem is that my inner powergamer is worried that if I do this I'll probably end up slightly dark or light, but never get to a big enough extreme to qualify for a prestige class. My favorite Dark Side moments in KOTOR2, though: First time through, before I knew the story of Loortra on Nar Shadaa, I just waltzed into his room. "You picked the wrong room to break into, friend!" "You picked the wrong room to die in, friend." *Force Choke* Never felt any guilt until I went through as a lightsider and found out why he was there. The other one is on Dantooine when you're outside the Jedi Enclave and run into the scavenger group coming out. They ask you what you want. "You. Out of my way. Now." Then they get uppity and say something like: "Watch yourself, this isn't a fight that you can win." "You have greatly overestimated your pathetic abilities." Golden.
  14. I'm not sure if Mira has any stat boosts, actually. The only party members who can boost your stats, to my knowledge, are Hanharr, T3 and I think HK47 Though you certainly get miscellaneous boosts from other party members, Like Handmaiden gives you that Wisdom bonus to defense feat, Visas gives you force sight, etc. But yeah, I was disappointed when my two flavorite characters, Mandalore and Mira, didn't really get anything cool from influence, at least as far as giving stuff to your main character.
  15. I mourn the lack of a Mira romance. To me she struck me as the most normal and realistic of the female NPCs. I don't know, it just seems like they were trying way too hard to make you like Handmaiden and Visas to the point of making them ugh... I don't know. Unnatural? Mira seems a lot more natural and I felt like if I were the exile I'd be a lot more comfortable around her than these women who seem like their still going through puberty and trying to figure out their emotions. I know this is just me, because a lot of people have expressed their praise for Visas and Handmaiden and simultaneously their disgust and/or dislike for Mira because of her attitude and personality. I dunno. From my dating experiences, I'd definitely prefer Mira. A pity they didn't do a romance for her, and I do have to wonder why. If it's age, then that wasn't really well explained, as you never know her age or your character's age. It's safe to assume late 20's or early 30's for the exile, but the portraits that you have would've lead you to believe otherwise. I do wonder why it seems like the Developers went through the effort to make Mira appear "hot" but then not have her as a chooseable option. I wouldn't think that a collection of computer programmers would pick up the feminine tendency to "tease", assuming most of them were male (No offense intended, there are plenty of talented female programmers and I work with some, I just am unaware of very many working at Obsidian).
  16. Hahahaha.... The Haunted Ghetto Freighter. Contains spirits of Jedi who aren't quite dead yet! Yours for only 140,000 Credits!
  17. Yeah, I hate how the sith mask looks and still don't understand how you're supposed to see through it. I agree with what you do though. Especially for my DS characters, I grab a breath mask ASAP and toss that badboy onto whatever fugly mug I chose for that playthrough. With most of them, you'll look quite bad-arse with the breath mask. You actually look like a psychotic industrialist nazi sith!
  18. Godawful outfit!? That outfit is *hawt*! :D No, I'm sure you have legitimate reasons for thinking it's a terrible outfit, but as one of those rare guys with an interest in fashion, I'd be intrigued to hear why you think it's "godawful"?
  19. You know, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this issue at the Czerka Compound. You're absolutely right, this point of the game (Attack on the Czerka compound) is really terrible because of the party AI, regardless of how you set it.
  20. 1. Sion - The delivery of some of his lines in that voice just give me shivers... 2. Bao-Dur - Bao-Dur, yeah, he's just cool with stuff. Was interesting to hear him blow up at Mandalore (Who also did a decent job, just had NO LINES) 3. Kreia - Got the age perfect, incredible job.
  21. Flanking Bonuses. I agree. Over the course of the game, Kreia gives you a crapload of bonus force points. Reducing those would probably help. Though I'm a fan of DnD, I'm not sure how well any of the concepts from the wizard would transfer to a force user (Or how one could conceivably do it) I agree with what you're saying, though maybe you could give some examples of tactical fights? I agree completely. Rarely, if ever, is there a need for any of the other special techniques (Power Attack, Critical Strike), or if there is, it usually requires a character/saber built around it. Yeah, a total rewrite of the rules would be difficult to pull off anyway.
  22. I agree with you on the point of leveling speed. I wonder if the exp is in that same file where you set the multipliers for all the enemies stats. Not sure if you've seen it, but someone posted it up here not too long ago, a file that had a bunch of fields for stats, and what appeared to be multipliers based off of the main characters' stats. Like .7 BAB or something. Trying to remember where the exp would be found. Item Required Level... What item "broke" the game in such a way as to make you consider such a measure? The Biorestorative underlays?
  23. I have to agree with you there. Not to mention it's the only portrait with a full on beard instead of these wussy soul patches and goatees. Does make me wonder what the Jesus portrait looks like at 100% dark side. I'll have to check on that.
